Kim those are wacky peacock heads I got on clearance at home depot on wednesday for 3 bucks each. When I saw them in the garden I wish I had bought them all and put some out front in the front beds. They make me laugh.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Louise I was thinking the same about yours!! Lovely : )

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

They are funny....I bet my HD won't have any but I sure will check!!

Aw, shucks you precious Hotties... You are ALL so welcome.. Indeed, Linda Kay I will NEVER forget! Kim! lol ..."her Hotness" LOL.. I was composing those cards at work last week, while I was carrying on here, it was fun to address each of you on an individual level! I love you all! Anjl, I got my new gloves dirty, today.. they ARE very nice! Audrey, where's them pics you were trying to post... All us Hotties LOVE the pics! Lorraine, so glad you joined us over here on #7. They seem to burst with growth sometimes, and you wonder why you were so impatient! Louise, I wondered if that begonia was the one you mentioned was similar to a fucshia. I like how lacy they look and the bright orange bells, too. Here's a couple more gonias and a venosum tymphonium.

Hello hotties. I know I haven't posted in quite a while but have been very busy trying to get my "dungeon" craft/sewing room finished. DS is putting real pressure on me now. Tried to keep upo with the 3 swaps I am finishing too. I have been reading the coming and goings every day. Peg so sorry to hear about your hubby's pending surgery. Yeap, big--no huge--babies. Ah but we love them even more I think!! I did.

My babies are doing fine. Well 3 of them are, I think one got over wet during our last downpour and it isn't feeling you to it's usual self. Somehow it got pushed where it really got a huge amount of the rain. Think maybe a kitty pushed the pot and I didn't notice it soon enough. Trying to nurse it back to health.

Oh the card was so thoughtful Bonnie. I showed it to my DD about the "Hot Ross" and the excitement, the tears and the huge smile --wish I had captured it to show you. She still has bad days but then so do I. Really, really looking forward to his arrival. Her?

Sorry I can't recall all on here now. Have a wonderful weekend. I have to make a quick trip to Gainesville tomorrow and will return Monday. Then the pressure will really be on as it will be time to help hang the sheetrock. When this is finished, my life will be gardening full time!!!

Lavender, I just love them, so tropical and offers a sharp contrast. They are very low maintenance, die back in fall and store as a bulb in the basement. I got them a few years ago at the Wichita Garden Show.

Ha that tin shed is the bane of my life!!! It is a garage, a biggggg garage that backs up my whole back yard. I saw a magazine where a lady took her eyesore shed and painted it blue with clouds like the sky and added some decorative pillars. I really want to try that this fall. I figure if I screw it up I can always paint it some other color lol. I hate looking at that shed all the time.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Marion!! Louise go for it... sounds like a lovely idea.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

This is my jasmine. Well I have two, one is a sambac that blooms all the time and the really big one is a star jasmine. Blooms predominately in the spring and sporadically until about august. Star jasmine is the easiest to grow. I have it in a big square cheap pot and cut it back in the fall to about 8-9 inches tall and it grows to about 2x3 feet...fast! If left alone it would vine to about 25 feet (clipping keeps it shrubby). Winter, dark corner hardly any water. In feb it starts to leaf out and bud. I bought it three years or so ago at walmart in a five gallon pot. They usually have them in the spring in bloom. It smells heavenly. You can see it still has flowers on it.

Marion!!! Thanks for stopping in to catch us up on what you are getting accomplished. It will be nice to have some plant time and nice to have a craft room! I shed some happy tears when I wrote them out. I've been calling that Hot Ross him. The little cutting is pushing out bright green new leaves and he's going to get potted up tomorrow and when he's establish some nice healthy roots and it's cooler, he will be traveling to you Marion. I think it's appropriate for you to have one. And I'm so glad that branch got broken off! :)

Trying again! I can't find it!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

AuntB thats HOT!!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Louise, my goodness. I have that jasmine I think. I have it wrapped all around and through a little 3 ft trellis. I've never really cut it back... I think I want to! I want it to look like yours! That is gorgeous! See that? I learn right back from you Hotties! I am still amazed you cut it back to 9 inches!

Hey everyone. I just came back in from repotting "stuff"! It was so hot here this afternoon, I waited until later to go out and start. And then had to fight mosquitoes! Oh well, I potted until I ran out of dirt. Will get more tomorrow afternoon.

Joyce, Oriental lilies are the ones with the wonderful smell. Asiatic are a little brighter colored but they don't smell as strong. Shihtzumom just finished a lily coop. I'l have extras this fall if you want to try some. I have Stargazer and a white one blooming on the deck in pots right now. And oh the smell when you walk out the door!

Those of you who have had Oriental lilies & brugs both, which one smells the best? I've never even seen a brug bloom, much less smelled one

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

:) Kim, he is brilliant out there in the all the green. I have most of my hibs on the deck where I can see their blooms through the French Door.. I don't miss a one on that Hottie Hibiscus. The blooms last 2 days, too.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

L4E, ;) I have to say, I couldn't choose between the two. They are different in there own respect, but just as sweet as one another. I'm SO anxious for you to get blooms.

(Cathy), MO

LOL. So am I!!! My little pods are getting bigger every day

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Soooo who's gonna say which smells the best???

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Audrey, we will keep chatting while you get it posted. It's just so exciting, Cat. Don't they grow fast once you find them? Until we're waiting for the unfurling part. lol

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Kim, you say. Do you think the LILY smells better?

(Cathy), MO

How long will it take to open once the pod starts? Approximately!

What about mock oranges? Has anyone smelled them?? Delicious!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

The branch breaking was an omen Bonnie. It was just meant to be another Hot Ross would come into my life!! LOL We will anxiously await his arrival!! Much love and care will be waiting for him.

Hello Kim the exotic!!! I am getting concerned about my one brug that got so wet but hopefully it will recover. It does look some better but still not completely. I'll keep watching and talking with it to see if it helps. I loved the peek over your garden gate.

Hopefully next year I will have some things to show. Trying hard to get the yard established and so far I am very pleased with what is happening.

I am not sure my jasmine is the exact kind but I do have some. Blooms profusely about March and it can be smelled over the entire neighborhood. Really sweet aroma. I have to really keep it trimmed back or it will take over the entire backyard--such as it is!!! I actually think it is worse than ivy!!

Well I am tired, busy day shopping with GDs for back to school supplies. Fun but tiring!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cat, it will take ALMOST forEVER! LOL

(Cathy), MO

LOL, it will probably seem like it!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Ok here's the deal, when the lilies are in bloom they smell the best...then when the angels are in bloom they smell the best ; } thats my story and i'm sticking to it!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Can you say: Diplomat?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

But Cat they are sooo worth the wait!!!

(Cathy), MO

Kim have you smelled mock orange bushes? Heavenly!

I just hope while the pod is getting bigger, the rest of the plant will too! It seems too small to be able to hold up much of a bloom

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes and I love them too...lady down the street from me may give me a cutting..but I don't like the thorns.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

It's weird how sometimes the bloom is almost as big as the plant..my MEM has a bud unfurling close to the ground.

(Cathy), MO

The ones I have don't have thorns thank goodness. When we first bought this old place, the side road was lined with thorny locusts. We like to never got rid of them all. Other than roses and blackberries, I don't want any more thorny stuff!

(Cathy), MO

MEM???

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I think orange jasmine smells the best. They have a dwarf for pots I want to get. Jasmine sambac smells great too. My night blooming jasmine hasn't bloomed yet. Still only a foot tall right now. Not bad growth since I got it in a 2" pot this spring.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Miss Emily Mckensie. I have the night blooming jasmine no blooms yet and hardy jasmine no blooms either.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

When the brugs and the lilies bloom at the same time it is almost overwhelming sweet!

What beautiful gardens everyone has. Beautiful to see pics.
Kimarj, love the potted head. I have a friend Theresa that is doing a whole section of her garden in potted heads. I found a little pot the other day made in England and the face looked like an old smiling English man.

I live in the country on 3 acres. The gardens keep growing and space is not a problem except there is too much space. Weeding becomes a huge problem! It is easy to plant and lovey to play in and impossible to keep the weeds under control....LOL

I have lilies, brugs, hibiscus hardy and non-hardy, coneflowers, roses, butterfly bush, mums, hostas, blanket flowers, daisies, day lilies, cannas, liatris, spider plants, calla lilies in bloom. Just need bigger plots of them I think so they show up better. I am edging the entire garden in day lilies.

It is so darn dark at my house at night, I don't know with a flash light if I can see anything or not. I will try, just need to say up another hour or so.
