Good morning everyone. I can't wait to get off work and get home to dig that one pot out of the mess!
AuntB, your opinion please? Should I wait to repot the one that is budding? It's only in a 1 gallon pot!
She's about to ....#6 : )
Morning, everyone! Ok, I've got my Starbucks and am on until about 1pm CST so I can catch up with all of your posts! :)
One thing I must say - DG is an incredible website. I really enjoy the ability to learn from you guys about my plants and you are awesome!! Thank you for all of your advice and help.
Oops, Melissa, Santeelady, we hope you are feeling better and can join us again real soon! Amanda, we learn from you, too! It is pretty incredible.. 10 years ago I was justing learning about yahoo and instant messaging! lol Then I research a passiflora vine and the rest is history... opened the door to a whole new world! DG is a learning place and almost everyone is so helpful and sharing. I wouldn't venture to identify your Snowbank, but the leaves look like mine when I had it in part sun...once it gets some new leaves and we can see the variegation, I'd be more sure it's snowbank... but the crispy edged leaves are almost enough to confirm.. Can you move that guy so he's shaded? Might have to pot him up like Joyce and I do all of ours....so you can get him totally out direct sun. Cat, unless it's drying out completely during the day to the point of the buds dropping off, I'd let it flower, first... NO way would I want to chance sacrificing those blooms. Once you get to see them and they are almost spent, you can pot up then... it MAY not bother them now, but I wouldn't want to chance losing them, either.
Good morning sunshines! Sorry I've been MIA for a wee bit. lol. Was too busy packaging some babiez to a special hottie sis. and other things....lol. But I'm here and still mesmerize over my brugs' development. lol. Congrats to Clemen with the variegata's blooms, and to Cat's for her 'Okra' thingy on her brugs.
Clemen, the Variegatas appear to be compact brugs. I've one just like it, let's keep touch and compare their growth, yours and mine?
Lavender4ever, I'm learning alot from you as well. That's what so much fun at DG. We continually learning new thing about our plant from sharing our own experience.
Hiya Kim from Pa., Jaye, Peck and Beck Linda Kay and everyone else that I may have missed.
The double yello should open in a day or two. will most definately share pics...
Lady Baltimore is beautiful. Can't believe how big they are.
Linda Kay
I had a pregnant onion that I wanted to know more about, and one of my highschool alumni gave me this site! The rest is history! Best thing I ever did, was open that page!!
Mornin Glories!!... I am just now kinda waking up.. (I know I am BAD...hehe).. oh I have been up almost an hour.. so maybe that will sound a lil better!!
Kimbob.. sooo glad you are back!! Lady Baltimore.. huh?? I have one just like it.. just didn't know her name..TY.. I LOVE the hardy Hibiscus and Confederate Roses !!
Bonnie.... aww.. don't be soo hard on yourself..lol it does make you want to jerk ANY MAN up cause most are sooo hard headed!! Peg knows exactly what you mean!!
ALRIGHT... missy Melissa... I already know you are feeling better.. better come on in and tell the girls you are getting better..hehe.. She's getting ready for a com con... I'll let her explain!!
Ok, I have to confess I skimmed and hit "skip to new" I'll go back later and see what's up. !!! Been finishing up the growbag co op, so haven't been able to visit.!!!
Got a box from Happy today!!!!!! BRUUUUUGGGGG.!!! It's a whole plant!. I was looking for just a stem to root and this one has lots of roots. I'm so excited!!! I know you aren't supposed to thank people for plants, so I won't say THANK YOU!!!
Do ya'll have a lot of brug co ops come up.? I can't order now, but sure would like to later. If none of ya'll do one, tell me when the time is to do one and I'll get us one going. Maybe just us, and a few "friends" Or does the girl doing this co op do them often.?
Ok, gotta go plant my wittle angel "Happy" brug. That's it's name, Happy Angel. lol
A com con? Do we all want one? Lissa? Mother Rainey, do you know what a com con is? I do love all hibiscus. I should plant more hardy ones.. next year. :) Kimbob, thanks for checking in, somethin special, eh? Well if it's comin from you, I know it is. I love the color of that double trop. hibiscus! Pretty! Thanks, Becky;). Audrey, are you feeling better today?
I think it's the first coop for Kenboy/maggiedo (they grow the brugs), but I think Jeri has done co-ops, maybe not always brugs. I really shouldn't be interested.... the basement can hold NO more.... well, a couple little ones, maybe! Lorraine, that is a PERFECT name, prettier than my JMW.. (Joyce's Monster White) Actually, in the garden, when it's just me and the plants, I call her Joyce!
Hello Hotties!!!
All betters now....my tummy ache went away ;o) Oh good lord I thought I was gonna die...UGH I haven't been sick like that in I don't know how long. Aw, thanks Bonnie for worryin' about me ;o) Like Becky says, I'm getting ready for Comic-Con, so I will be MIA most of next week.
My baby brugies are very happy on the north side of my house. Two of them are even showing new leaves....whoo hooo, I'm actually doing a potted plant right!?!?! Okay, now I feed all my flowers on Fridays, so what should I feed the brugs?? I think I've asked this before, forgive me, I got sick ;o) MG is all I have on hand, is that okay? Oh and I have it in liquid feeder form and in the dissolvable crystal form.
Okay...off to check up on the rest of the gals.....
*smootches* ~melissa
LOL!!! I guess I need to explain Comic-Con huh?? I don't think everyone wants one of these....hee hee hee
Comic-Con is the world's largest comic book convention. It is held annually here in San Diego at the convention center, downtown. We (Todd, Christopher & I) go every year. DH works, well volunteers there, so he's there Sunday thru Sunday and DS and I are down there Wed. night thru Sunday. It's not a huge flea market of comic book sellers either....Basically it's a bunch of dorks who get together for movies screenings, tv show panels (where all the stars of a tv show are on stage and they disscuss the show and answer questions) Simpson's, Family Guy. All the major tv networks for carttons nd such...Disney, Neckelodeon, SciFi Channel, so many more.... tons of comic book artists and writers. Movie stars from big action or "comic book" type movies....like since Batman is coming out right now, there will be stars from the Batman movies there. You get a chance to see all kinds of people dressed up in costume too. It's alot of fun and we are so tired each day when we come home, but get up and do it all over again the next day!! YAY!! It's almost here, oh I'm so excited :-O Keanu Reeves will be there this year OMG!! He's sexy...hee hee hee
That's not even half of it..but you get the point. Oh and there is a bunch of people always dressed up like Star Wars and Star Trek characters, so, yes, you could say I'm a Trekie..LOL!!!
I can attest to quality of Kenboys plants. I did a trade with them and the plants were all in really good shape and growing like crazy now
Glad to have you back Melissa. Okay, how do you get ready for a Comic-Con? Are you a stand-up comedian? Beck threw it out there, I'm nosey, like her ;) Here's a pic from when I was younger, my 1st or 2nd year with brugs... (no gray hairs!) This is Pink Beauty, she grew as tall as the house that year. I'm 5 ft, (seems like such a long time ago, I may have been taller, then lol)...
"1st or 2nd year"??? How long have you been into brugs AuntB?
My daughter would love that Melissa! (she's Melissa, too) I hear they got all "made-up" to attend the pre-showing of the Batman movie last night. She is into movies, big time. How fun for you all... I agree, Keanu is rather a HahaHottie! Nice sexy voice, too! We will miss you while you're there. It's great they take a whole week!
Since spring of 2000, I think, Cat. I was looking around on a gardening forum and wondered what 'brugmansia' was, I'd never heard of it... Well once a flower lover sees the bloom, you know you're hooked! lol
WooHoo! That is great Audrey.. it's your pretties! Aw, cute! You keep posting pics till you get the one you want to show us.. I'm running to the P.O. and try to find something healthy for lunch.
Wow, AuntB, your brugs are huge. I can't wait to get mine to bloom. Mine are doing very well, even the wilted sticks I got from ebay. They are finally getting little leaves on them. I will keep them in pots for this year, but I am working on the new section in the front yard, for the new brug garden. I just gotta figure out how to get them in the shade, because the front yard will put them in all sun, all day long. Maybe some trellis or something?
Linda Kay
Well, Bonnie, I will keep her in mind then, do we spell our names the same??? I love y name...so feminine, yet I'm not so my name adds some femininity to my personallity!!! I may be able to get some cool stuff autographed "personally" no promises but I will do my best. Oh we need to get her on the mailing list, so she can see what it's all about. Even if she can't attend, she can "tell" me what she wants, believe me we DO GO EVERY YEAR...hee hee hee. I'm pretty much on my own this year, between Todd working, and Christopher is bringing friend this year, so I get lots a free time to roam around at MY pace!!!
Bonnie, you could not make me mad if you tried! LOL... DH is really not in much pain so has not taken any of the narcs they prescribed yet... but he is soo bored, and worried about the surgery. Beck, thanks for worrying about our finances, but we should be okay. Working construction, you have to keep emergency funds back, and I'm still working, so he just gets a long vacation that he was not planning on. Thanks everybody for your support and thoughts.
Clem, hope you had fun meeting your DG friend. We are all going to do that one of these days... :))
Everybody's brugs look great. Mine need a kick or something...The "Pink Marble"that came rooted is doing real good, but the others cannot decide what to do. I have 3 others potted with little green stubs all over them, but they have been that way for a week now.
I love the hardy hibiscus and have just started those this year but my FIL has several so he is sharing. :)
Melissa and Audrey, hope you both are feeling better. It's no fun being sick when you want to be watching your plants.
Naptime for me. Talk to ya later. Peg
You did it! LOL. Now you can post all kinds of flower pictures!!! :-)
Yeah, if I had all kinds of flowers!! None of mine are blooming except my 2 roses, and one of them is about over for the month!
I have so many I can't keep up with them! Can't even get them in the ground, so several are still in pots! Want some? I'll share!
Tee hee hee! Love some! Where are you? what part of the state are you in? I'll come and get some!! I'm right across the river from the bootheel!
Seriously, it's a little to hot to mail them right now!!
I'm way on the other side of the state! About half way up.
You should join the fall plant swap. They are taking sign ups now. And I'll tell her I want your name so I can send plants but don't want any back! :-) (I'm only half joking!!!)
I have to be carefull about postage right now! I'm in to many things! Where do you sign up for the fall swap?
Audrey... GO to the RU... plant swap.. OHHHHHH you will have a ball.. and get sooooo many plants!!! OH.. I swear.. when I saw the lil pic of you I thought I knew you...lol.. nope ... you ain't "her".. but you are pretty though... I am going to get my old camera out and see if the thing works...DH says it will take the pics that I can download..and since my 14..!! year old DGson is still here.. I will get him to teach me how.. Lordy.. what the kids know how to do today...
You know... even though it is getting hot.. it really isn't that bad on the plants IF you make sure you have the roots well covered in damp/wet paper towels.. and then put in a baggie.... cuttings the same way... ok..lol.. anybody want to trade??? hehe Noooooo for now I am kidding... LOL.. BUT when I get all these plants in the ground I will be ready again....whoo hooo.... I just can't help myself...
Yeah cat.. right... hehehe. there's ALWAYS ONE more spot for a plant or two... right??
Bonnie... still purty as ever.... OH MY... IF ONLY... MAN it's BIG.. and Tall... One day... I know Patience...(sticking tongue out!!)
Peg... sooo glad he isn't in pain!! That is a good sign... at least you will be able to live with him...hehe.. My DH isn't a "titty baby" either.. most of the times that is.. Just don't work too hard... guess now isn't a time you can think about retiring... and just be able to play in the yard all day... oh well.. that's life .. right??
Here you go!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/874876/
I guess I better not, I don't have much room to plant in.
I joined but I really do think I'm going to ask the hostess to assign me someone who doesn't have much to send!
That would be me! I'd have to go buy some to send!!
Good pic! You're a very pretty girl!
IU've always been shy of sending pics of me, too! I don't take good pics!
I have anjtoher Brug question for all of you pros out there ... I'm wanting my seedlings to grow fast and well ... they're not. Now this is the first time I've grown a Brug from seed, but they are about 2 feet tall and I'm hoping to get them much larger before the fall/winter set in. I'm fertilizing often and know that really helps but I wanted to ask - would it be a good idea to stake them? Would that possibly help them grow quicker?
