Hi Dianne, I fear you would be disapointed with my tiny garden, it would take 5 minutes to see the lot!!!!!! Is your daughter working or coming over on holiday?
Sounds like you had a good day with the family on the 4th.
The tennis was brilliant and I spent most of the weekend in front of the tv watching it!
Back to work tomorrow. Here's some sweet scabious for one of the tables.
Have a good week all!
The FLOWERPOT Cafe' XI
Hi all!
Terri, the frog was just hiding in box along with some other stuff, now I just need to find my blue ceramic bowl...it would be so perfect for flower arranging now that I have the frog! BTW, I really like your scabious and the different levels you gave to the arrangment, it gives the impession of a topiary and also replicates the design on the vase, very nice!
Starlight, thankyou for the compliments, your fresh veggies look sooooo good!
Hi Traci, nice to meet you too :) I'm glad you like my delphinum, I've had it for 12 years so its quite special since alot of the time they're very short lived or don't comeback at all.
The buds have opened on the lillies so now the vase is hidden underneath the blooms! I shall try to get another photo!
Haighr, thankyou :) I will be sure to keep the frog in a safe place :)
Steven
Traci that is one nice batch of flowers you got there from the last hurrah! Hope you had a blast for the 4th. you deserve!
Star you may not have much in the way of flowers but those veggies make up for it. They will serve you twice, once in the gathering and again in the eatin!
Mittsy that is a pretty spread you have there. I had no idea you could eat them. How is the taste? Sweet, bitter or just right?
Terri I doubt anyone would be disappointed in seeing your gardens and I bet we could all spend a lot more than 5 minutes browsing.
Diann the cabin is about 45 minutes west of us in the mountains. Lots of hunting and fishing and when we aren't working there we do get a bit of R&R. Is your daughter taking this trip as a vacation or work? You should hurry and grab yourself a ticket over there!
Good eye Steven, I was so busy looking at the flowers I didn't even notice the vase and similarities. I went back and took a second look!
Terri and Candee - my daughter is going to London and Paris for vacation. She graduated from college in December and is getting some traveling in before joining the workforce. I am going on a separate trip to Europe later this summer so I have to save my $$ for that ;)). A cabin in the mountains sounds good today - we are expecting over 100 degree days for the next few days here.
Terri - I grew some scabosia a few years ago and was disappointed at it for use as a cut flower because of it's weak stem. You have found a great way to rectify that problem by bundling the stems up. What a great idea!! Now I am sad that I let the scabosia die......
Hi everyone!
We are having a power cut at the cafe, ice cream is off the menu today!
Steven, Thanks! Glad you noticed the topiary effect, thats what I was trying to achieve! I like to bring the container into play whenever the opportunity arises! It would be interesting to see how the lily arrangement looked when the buds
opened. Has that blue ceramic bowl turned up yet?!!!
Dianne, It seems there are quite a lot of garden flowers with floppy stems! Wiring them together is always an option!
I'd better go and light a fire, to put the kettle on! Anyone got spare candles?, we might need them at the cafe later this evening.
I can't believe there is no ice cream what with the high temps and humidity? Can't you call the power company, or perhaps we need to get a generator?
Diann, it can get pretty hot in the mountains as well and we just have a window AC in the kitchen, rest of the time just fans. We do take a lot of cool showers after working outside all day!
WOW, well I know where you get your ideas, you are just an artistic genius, but where do you find the time?
Thank you!
I had the afternoon off work today! But like I always say, it's the ideas that take the time, the 'arrangements' are quick to make!
Oh, last one in, please blow the candles out!
Goodnight all.
Hello all, lovely stuff! Take me too long to give you each a message.
I am back from a beautiful holiday, but came home with a head cold and am sick, sick, sick!
Hubby makin Tea for me, and I going to bed now! *coff, coff, sniff, sniff*
Better wipe the keyboard first!
Sue
Sue.. Sorry to her ya sick, but yes, please wipe the keyboard, then cyber germs are heck on a body. hehehehehe ; ) Hope ya had a good time.
terri. really cute candle arrangement. Not gonan blow the candle out, need to keep it burning for all the night owls. Is that Daylily buds stuck in there?
Well Helllllllllllo Sue!
Sorry to hear you are not well, I think Candee has the same bug, those cyber bugs get everywhere!
Nice Hubby looking after you, make the most of it LOL! I reckon you have been burning the candle at both ends on that beautiful holiday!!!!! Get well soon, keep warm, it's winter for you now eh?
Hi Star, Thanks! They are day lily buds, hadn't really thought of using buds untiI I saw Stevens arrangement with the buds and Candees pods for candles. Hope we get some more candles for tonight or the cafe will be in darkness!!!!
Well at least there are just clouds outside and no rain today so there is some light in the cafe. Guess folks were just to scared to wander in there with the lights off and just a few candles on the tables, perhaps they thought they would see arrangers from the dark lagoon sitting at the tables, hovering over their drinks with spindly fingers clasping each flowery cup of java.
We really should call the power company and get plenty of candles together just incase it is still haunting this evening.
Sue sorry you are under the weather, but hope you do post trip pics when feeling better.
Terri, forgot to tell you - I am just the opposite, I get ideas all the time and some good ones, but putting them together is the tough part for me, making all the pieces fit takes me some time.

Good News Everyone! The electricity will be back on tomorrow. Just a mix up with the bill, Traci forgot to pay it!!!!!!
But it's ok, we forgive her.
Hi Candee, we only need to get through one night with candles! If we have candles on all 25 tables, I'm sure it will look inviting and cosy tonight.
The 'mechanics'of arranging take time to learn, the more you make the quicker it takes!
Ideas are the most difficult bit and not easy for some! Sometimes I run out of ideas completely!!!!!!!
Luckily we all have each other to learn with.
Well I'll just have to get more of those themes in my head coming. I was just waiting for a few more additions to the "twins" before I came up with another.
Traci, I understand how you may have forgotten and I don't mind, I like candelight, just hope there is enough so folks aren't scared to drop by.
Hi Dianne, Happy Birthday!
Are you going out to celebrate tonight? Hope you have a lovely time whatever you're doing. Thank you for the candle arrangement! what a good idea. Only I of my red hot pokers flowered this year, yours look lovely, especially with those palm? leaves.
Sorry I don't have 55 candles on the cake! Happy Birthday to you!
Terri, thanks for the compliments! It seems I've started a bit of a trend with lily buds :) hehehe
I really like your 'lily tower' as well, do you have a pic with the buds open? I finally got a picture of mine, its a little...err..past its prime but still looks good in the photo :)
soilsandup, very nice arrangment! Is that sago with the hot poker? great combination!
Steven
Oh Dianne happy day to you!!!!!!!!! Hope you enjoy don't stick around this cafe all evening now, go have some fun with the youngsters. Thanks for the light, I can see you walking out the door as we speak!
Hey Steven, very nice lilies you got there, that brightens up one table.
Terri, you put that bright one on an inside table away from the window, we don't want people peeking in to see what we are doing at the windows.
Here is a contribution for a couple tables from me, they are quite bright, but not sure how long the one on the right will stay lit!
happy brithday
i hope you have a good one like i did

Hi Elle, hope there is enough light for you to see in here! 10 quarts of pickle beets better post some for the cafe, we could eat a few of those!. So good to hear from you.
Woo Hoo would you look at those! Gorgeous arrangements Candee! Yay we have light tonight! so inventive with your candelabras and all,. thanks so much. fantastic job!
Hi Steven, no sorry ! I haven't got a picture with the buds, I've taken it apart already and used the buds for something else. Thanks for posting your bud flowering it sure is huge!
Hi there elle, chillax and take a break with us!!
If anyone would like a snack, we have some fresh fruit salad tonight.
Sue you need vitamin c to get rid of those bugs!!
Happy Birthday soilsandup! Thats my kinda candles!
Its so bright in here I'm blinded! Blinded by your creativity also.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I've spent the morning in bed and waited till the temps reached at least 12 degrees celcius before venturing out. It's snowing in various places to the west and South, and its cold and windy. I did a smidge of weeding and mulching aswell as selling 7 bales of sugar cane at the gate.
I have to go into town soon to pick up underwater photos, but realy don't feel up to a drive. Still snotty, ears blocked, coughing up lungs, and my nose is soooooo sore!
My holiday was the best, and I made a thread in the bromeliad forum about a garden I went to visit, but as yet, haven't made another. I will try to get one up today, but we'll see.

Sue
Hi Everyone - thanks so much for all the birthday wishes and the delicious cake and goodies. I just got back from a lovely dinner with my kids, and will have more cake soon.
Certainly not a shortage of candles for the cafe anymore with Terri's and Candee's great additions. My regular red hot pokers did not bloom this year either. The one in the photograph was taken last December. I went to a plant show and show a red hot poker named "Christmas Cheer". The blooming time is December, and I do indeed get some blooms at Christmas. It was a great addition to my winter flower garden. Steven - yes, the leaves are from a cycad - common name of Sago Palm.
I have two of those cycads, but rarely do I get the chance to use them in arrangements because they are so big and overwhelms everything unless I have something huge.
Elle - I love pickle beets. And Sue - it is so hard to imagine you in 12 degrees C while I am wilting here in 108 degrees F (too late in the evening for me to try to convert to Celsius).
Good night all. Dianne

I've been working on another new thread about my Cairns trip. this is the link.
Technical difficulty this morning as I can see the posts but no photos from yesterday? Guess it is on my end. Am sure the snacks were scrumptious even though I cannot see what they are, or is it because they have all been eaten???
Terri, I see how you get so much accomplished - you stay up 22 hours a day!
Sue - sorry forgot to tell everyone to bring their sunglasses, you probably don't have yours handy what with the weather you are experiencing. Guess it will be a reverse roles for us in a few months, we'll be watchin the snow fall and you'll be out in the garden. Can't wait to see your underwater photos! We you at the barrier reef? Put some vaseline on that sore nose and get some rest and hope you are much better soon. I'll pop over to your links a bit later, somethin to look forward to.
Dianne - I put in red hot pokers this year and they are supposed to be giants, we shall see. Wonder why yours did not bloom? Should I do something special with mine, hope not, no time, I can't stay up 22 hours a day LOL!
Elle, hope you had a chance to stop in even if it was while we were all sleeping, we shall see you soon, don't work too hard.
Speaking of work, I better get to it, catch ya later.
Oh come on Candee it's at least 23! give me a break!!!!!! LoL!
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the links to your holiday Sue, it looks a great place to go! Hope you shake off that cold soon.
Dianne, do you feel different now you're 55?!! Glad you had a nice Birthday with your kids.
Pleased to say, the electricity is back on. Thanks for the fun with the candles!
Put the candles in a safe place, you never know when Traci may forget to pay the bill again? Don't ask me to put them away cause I'll never remember where they are!
Enjoyed my visit through your eyes Sue to Cairn looks lovely there.
