Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #50

I thank the Lord for all your friendship today...Thread #50..many who posted on #1 are still with us, many drop in from time to time, and many of found us interesting enough to take on the challenge of joining us..we're a proud group, all having stories of our own that we are dealing with, but ALL are there to support, to edge on, the share with each other...all have become good friends...I'd like to think if we met each other, we'd be as close which I am sure we would...

So I start this #50, knowing that I am blessed to have you all as my cyberspace 'sisters' you truly are amazing people (you must be to keep letting me gab about the little things in life that make me happy)!

It's going to rain here today, probably in a few hours, so heavy and on the cool side...I actually slept in till 6:30 this morning and now I'm waiting for Dianne to spend the day with me..I've lots of paint and she the flowered mat so we're in business..let the rain come...

Shar, I'm fine with waiting till Sept. - tell me now, do you think you could have left it on the plane, could those gorgeous pilots find it..do so hope you had my name, telephone number and kind remarks in it..lol..

I had Liz..her gift did not arrive in good shape, so purchased a second of the same and for my 2nd gift. well knowing we'd meet up at Judy's decided to bring it along with me..so she'll have a few surprises...

Mine was Laura and she went to the extrememe...my beautiful rose book..since getting it, I've now 3 no make that 4 rose bushes in bloom have never done well with them, but they are gorgeous this year..maybe they finally feel they are loved, thanks to you all..now one did not fare so well, dug it up, no a leaf on it, took it and put it in an area on it's own, well hidden so it can rest and grow..I hope..

Not sure what I did with the rose tags, thought I left them on, will have to uncover some of the earth perhaps that's where they are...

Storm trampled all the tall flowers to the ground..do hope they can stand tall again...

Well between a few hours Sat. night and my going out about every hours yesterday I've manage to remove the grass in what will be my DG Friendship garden, a place to sit and think of you all...


The left side will host a variety of shrubs and plants and will hide a little seating area behind it..

Then to the right much the same...hides my garbage area..lol

Then it will turn to the right, and between the birdhouses up to the back arbor to the hidden garden I'll have the signage posts and fill with beautiful flowers...don't look, know I have to repaint insert and bench to meet your standards...lol...

This very back area has had no love or care except for having the grass cut so it will be a challenge...

When Dianne leave this aft. I'll try and start with the top soil, at least get that accomplished and then it will be shop/shop for shrubs and plants..in the meantime I'll work on making the plain old storage shed look a little more country..so over the summer, let's see how OUR garden progresses...

Better get some toast into me, Dianne should be here any time..

district mgr was so happy! now thats done for a year!!! sept is inventory that will be sad to see then we will know how much the theif really took... so are you ready for the big visit???

Liz, shipping boxes..now what do you have planned, please tell, I'm driving so I may have some of the things you need and could bring them...shaking my head as to how we are going to do crafts, visit Chicago, go to the cottage for the evening in order to get up to Vicki's..lordy, better take my vitamins..all my friends here who have dropped in over the past week keep saying surely you are not driving ALONE???? but am, I'm a big girl now...lol

lol betty, i had dh drill the ice cream glass and i drilled glass peices but she can work on that whenever she wants...
sent her the drilled peices for a clay pot person
bringing a octagon cement stone mold
her next door neighbor has rubarb she wants to make 1 or two leaves
we should be done with that before you get there lol
then i might nosey around and see whats in the wood pile lol
dont know if she was interested in cutting glass for dragonfly i'll let you show her that lol
im such a brat!
that should all be done by wed 1 pot of coffee i'll be ready to pull weeds in her garden in back lol

Although I am still new to this family, I feel that I am much a part of all of you wonderful fun loving people. I have laughed with you and cryed with you and love each and everyone of you. Ruby sweet lady you are a good guesser. Glad you liked what I sent. I enjoy giving people things. I try to send things that fit in with thier likes and personality. Cat, I couldn't even guess who mine was but you know you couldn't have done any better than my hostas. They have a special place in my gardens. I will take some pics and show you how they are doing. Thank you so much. Paul you are going to have to join this one day. It is fine with me to wait until Sept. Sharon. Thank you all for letting me be a part of this. I'm glad you enjoyed it Bev. I did a little "searching" and found a post somewhere where you talked about this wonderful (and your favorite) place to buy hostas. So I figured that might be something you actually used!! LOL. Besides, I could be sneaky that way. I told them to not put my name on the certificate! :-)

Dianne just left..am so laughing, just before she came I made 2 batches of muffins, thought while I was at it I'd have some for breakfast and work treats..almost done, Dianne arrives says oh look at your gardens, so we did the walk, the ou's and oh's and you guessed it, 2 cooks and burnt muffins..will I ever learn..

Dianne managed to finish her floorcloth, she brought lunch so that was nice..I ended up because of it being humid and drying time a factor played with an old floorcloth I had started about 3 years ago, worked on a muskoka back chair and remembered I had a footstool in the back storage area so am painting it as well..

Went out to say goodbye and it's sunshine, 1 3/4 hrs. left to answer telephone and then I'm off duty till Wedn.so much I can still accomplish...

Let's start with you Judy, OMG/OMG what a transformation, you must be on cloud nine..they've done a wonderful job, bet you are smiling from thetime you get up till bedtime, even then bet you sleep with a smile..I'm truly excited for you...well worth the pain right?

Jeannine, oh look at those sweeties, now wouldn't you want the two of them? Do you name your dog or does the owner name them..forget what Sharon does, do know though she screens the owners more than children's aid when you want to adopt...yours did the same I'm sure...bet the family is very excited...how's Murphy going to take having to share the attention?


Liz, I have a stepping stone mold out of fibreglass, if you want I can bring it, saves you shipping and/or trying to pack it...you are down to a week now..lordy no containing you..you must be driving poor hubby NUTS...and I would imagine Judy is doing the same...

Know you are further south, who knows, maybe another few days added onto a weekend and I just might feel like visiting again...

Bev - Cat gives good gifts. I believe it was her that sent me a wonderfully unusual set of citrusy smelling candles and a candle holder. The first time that we did the exchange, Rachel I think is the name of the person who sent me a beautiful sun catcher with with an inspirational saying on it. Where is she?????

Well, my friend finally had her baby, A girl and she is a whopper!! 10lbs some odd oz. 22 in tall. Yow. Beautiful tho.

So had a little bit of bad news last week. Remember my brother had an accident and cut his fingers off? Well last week he had to have one removed. It got badly infected so they had to remove it. Of course beings the nut I am said well, you weren't using it anyway. He is ok with it,better his finger then the whole handful.
So he is recovering from that.

The wedding was simply beautiful and our young couple flew off to Jamaca this morning.

We have had lots of rain this past week so, nothing much going on but the weeds, which the deer are loving since they ate everything else.

Betty, your parade looked wonderful, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Bev, So glad you are going fishing. Hope you catch a big one.

This is so Funny, I too have been thinking about Rachael. Also Tropicanna crossed my mind just yesterday, so I do hope they are both well.

LOL, Excitement is bubbling over here. DH finally realized the enormity of of or gathering, now we are hustling about trying to get some air matresses, so you are not sleeping on the floor. Sabrina, has offered her room for the DG Dorm.
Also, he is stressing because we wanted to get a new big screen house, He has one in mind but You know he is worse on timing then I am! So, Hoping to find the one he wanted today. We do have one that will have to do, but I am not crazy on the small size of it. Looked all over yesterday with no luck on what he wants.

Now i got a list from Liz on stuff i will need, like pots! can't wait to make my pot person and breenie to, says she wants to help make it! I have a feeling my kids are going to be sticking close to home with all our crafting! How fun.

Hey people! Need prayers for my bum knee. Several years ago it used to go out on me and I would rotate it and would go back in place. A couple of hours ago it went out and won't go back and hurts like the dickins. I won't have it operated on! Iwon't I won't. I will put up with the pain. I can take a lot. I have so much to do let alone take care of Scotty. There is no one else so this knee has to get better. Hope all is well with all you. Have to fix supper and get out and take some pics of my hostas that are blooming. Thanks and HUGS BEV

Bev, will certainly say prayers for your poor 'knee' you must be in so much pain..guess it is hard to stay put..is Scotty mobile to any degree? Do you have friends or family in the area who could possibly drop in and help out for a day or so??? wish I was closer...d..n...wish I was...that's the only drawback with me being ill (if I was seriously ill) is living alone..guess I'd have to find a place to live if and when it happens....Scotty must be frantic...

Carol, your garden just overwhelms me..I want every component here..lol..how long have you worked on your gardens, PLEASE don't tell me a few years..so beautiful..your gardens I'm sure are like walking the garden of Eden...the beauty must take you aback at times...

You should take photo's and have them sent to a gardening magazine...they perhaps would do a spread on them...

Yes..they are window frames from a big old home..I think they were storm windows..
They were selling them at a yard sale. I had to go get my son with hsi truck to pick them up.
Some of the panes of glass were broken. I took all the glass out by scraping away the putty.
They have wood stakes hammered into the ground front and back for support..and also I have that hanging basket pole attached for support at the top on one side..and a metal trellis that you probably can't see on the other one.

I have been working on the Secret Garden for ten years....
Now I don't show you the edges..LOL..I have neighbours with trailers along one side..but there are spruce trees and shrubs that are slowly growing big enough to block them out..and of course the apple trees. Where I have the Secret garden was an old apple orchard when we bought the extra property at the back of the original 100' by 150'.
Just before my last husband passed away. My property is an acre now. I add a little something every year...
But I am not making any more gardens to look after..it is getting too much to care for..

You have done wonders for only a couple of years....it all takes time...

Something to look forward to then..lol...long process getting gardens such as yours...you have my 'dream' garden..know it's mega work but eventually it will come..

Thank you Betty but there is no one. The good Lord will see us through as he always does. I know someone is praying because it feels better than it did an hour ago. We will see in the morning when I have to go to town. It doesn't ache like it did! I went on out and took some photos and got that done.

Scotty and I stayed at the camper last night and I forgot our meds,and people were riding thier four wheelers and shooting firecrackers and scaring Blue till all hours so we didn't sleep too well and couldn't go fishing. I am going to bed early like Scotty does tonight.
Oh! Betty I didn't answer your ?? Scotty is very lucky he just can't take care of his toilet dutys and is very limited with his right arm and hand and is right leg is very week so have to help him up and down and watch himso he won't fall. He has fell several times, once breacking his arm. When we walk or go up and down stairs I hold to the back of his belt and lift for support.
