here's one of the bushes. my landscaper used to come and trim them earlier in the spring and cut off all the outside buds. I have banned him from trimming any shrubs.

Hi, V. The rose garden is heaven. I love pulling weeds because the perfume from the roses is so wonderful I could sit in there all day. Some of the bigger bushes are really coming into their own. Next year should be fabulous. Don't tell me sea holly is invasive:( It took me 2 years to get one seedling big enough to survive. Does it spread by seed?

this is 'Polareis'. the first flush of blooms was totally white, but the cooler weather turned the next ones pink. you never know.

'Daybreaker'

Daybreaker is gorgeous, Jan. If I remember correctly (been a few years), it did spread by seed, though the spread was confined, so I'm guessing the seeds must not be very small.

I really liked the way these 2 lavenders showed up against the house to see the difference in the colors. the left is 'Munstead' and the right is 'Hidcote'. I really like 'Hidcote' for the dark purple blooms.

V, I'll keep my eye on it. I would like a few more if it self seeds.

'Janice Tellian', a very tiny miniature rose

I think the main reason I didn't like Hot Cocoa was it clashed with a magenta clematis. I moved 2 roses last fall, one a no id greenish tinted one, that I really liked, and the Hot Cocoa. Only one survived, I was hoping it was the other one. It was Hot Cocoa. It actually looks better away from the clem.

Nice foxglove! I have Hidcote and like it a lot.

I had both Hidecote and Munstead, not sure which I have left - another move...

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Garmpapa. I love the color of Perfect Storm too. Today I bought a Zebrina Hollyhock to go behind it after I saw Onewish's beautiful photo from the last post. The colors look so pretty together.

Venosa Violacea in red twig dogwood. Not so obvious here, but I like the way the white in the clem matched the variegation.

Your DL looks like i'd hoped my "Always Afternoon" would look, but the colors on mine are a bit duller...
(Victor's got all the good stuff!)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Amy. That doesn't ring a bell. I'll have to try to find the tag or a record of the purchase. I really like the pinks and purple DL's. Way too many yellows, creams, etc.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Great pics everyone!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

OMG - everyone has amazing blooms. Thom, I planted a martagon this year. I can't wait until it's mature enough to bloom.

Redchic, I planted Bletilla striata and Bletilla striata 'Alba'. I really hope they bloom. It also looks like my Crocosmia is starting to come up. ohhh...I get so excited!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Crocosmia YES.
The ones I planted didn't emerge until the hot humid weather in early June.
Hope they bloom this year,I've heard it takes two years sometimes.
It will probably be lonely here today with everyone off at Kassies.
Watchout on Sunday though, I will love the stories.

Well, we can each keep each other company today while everyone else is off sharing.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It's so drippy and humid I won't be going into the garden,so I'll be checking here regularly.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good morning! I'm here and hope to take some pics later before it gets too hot.

At home or at Kassia's Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Home - I am not going to the RU. Have a good time, Sherrie.
