Wow - so many great shots since yesterday!

Here is the final Martagon...no idea which one it is.

I had a plant homicide today, totally intentional, one of my favorite sub trees/large shrubs--Physocarpus 'Diablo'--developed a really nasty fungus. It ended up getting covered in white in less than 3 days. This plant was almost 9' tall, and was one of the first ones I planted on my property. I hacked it done to the stumps :-( If it comes back, coolio...if not...oye...

Atleast I had the Martagon in bloom to make me smile :-)

I'm jealous of the DL's everyone has out--I have 1 blooming--the others are budded, but nothing yet! Hot cocoa rose was a beauty, & amy, your flowers are really doing well! I have a rose that is supposed to be Dr. Walter Van Fleet--does anyone know what it looks like? Here is what mine looks like, but I don't know for sure what it is.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Um, I have Hot Cocoa, but I don't like it.

Thomaston, CT

My computer is misbehaving again--not letting me print, even though I've been doing it the same way! Maybe tomorrow! Deb--why don't you like the Hot Cocoa?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was given Chocolate Cherry Dream because of the same reaction, "not so special"
If Hot Cocoa is in the brown family maybe they all have the same "so what" factor.
Mine is a first year and don't know if I willsee a bloom.
I wonder if they are paired with another plant with high color ,they would come off better. I hate to see plants fail in the beauty department.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh my, I am loving everyone's blooms so much!

I have to stop and wave a hello to Willie B in WNY. Hi, Willie. I'm Jan in Wheatfield. I enjoyed seeing your memory garden.

Thom, my condolences on the demise of your beloved Physocarpus. It's always a shame to lose a nice shrub like that.

Dyane, I really like the color of your Geranium 'Perfect Storm'. I thought I would get a dark purple when I bought 'New Hampshire Purple', but it is pretty much pink.

Hello everyone I have been away for a little bit. Have been fighting the weed battles and losing more often than not. Here are a couple of pics of what's blooming around the garden now.

I love 'Hot Cocoa'. I have it in my rose garden with orange, red and yellow roses. Here's the best shot I have right now. It changes color with the weather.

Great shots, all! Been busy the past few days and have not taken any photos. I'll try to get outside later. Celeste - that's an expensive bud - what did the whole rose cost?!^_^

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Grampapa: Love that orange color in your pic. How is the disease resistance? Does it get more orange in the warmer weather or tend to be more dull and brownish? I am trying to catch up with all these gorgeous pics and garden paths that you all are posting. Really nice !

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

ngam, me, too. great color on the hollyhocks. are they Creme de Cassis?

pixie, love the striped carnation...do they smell wonderful?

Hi, Victor!

Here's Sea Holly 'Blue Lace'. DH is still convinced it's a weed. I wintersowed it last year. Only got one to germinate, but it actually survived the winter and here it is blooming...yay!

Hi Jan! Great to see you posting. Your rose garden must be wonderful. Are you happy with it this year? Nice Sea Holly shot. I had one variety once but it was invasive so I got rid of it.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Pretty sea holly, you can see where they got the name. No the hollyhock isn't CdC. No ID , they are an oldie that has been hanging around for many years. I thought they had gone two years ago but the original plants had self seeded and a few survived the crazy winter weather that year and summer drought and now are blooming in the garden once more.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

ngam, it's usually darker in cooler weather, oranger when it's hotter. I wouldn't say the color has ever been brown and dull. disease resistence has been pretty good. I got it in spring '07 so I've only had it one full season.

willie, caught your wave ;0)
