Beautiful Patti

My 1st gilia bloom - they are so tiny none of the pictures are very good. But the flowers are very pretty! These came from bonus seeds sent by Celeste, giver of many good things...

Thanks, onewish, nice containers. I love 'Lolly Pop' . Rabbits got my first ones a few years ago but this year they are great.

Amy, I just planted some zinnias that I started from seed. I will be lucky if they bloom by Sept. Nice color. Gifted seeds and plants are my favorites always. I don't know that plant . I will look in Plantfiles.

OK, I know this is a weed to most, but I love it. DH took issue with its intrusion into the garden and said it is out of scale. He is right, but I will let it bloom then yank it out. Doubt it will be easy. Patti

O, we had 2 of those last year! Some kind of mullien, right? None this year, go figure.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Amy, yes. Verbascum thapsus. It is a bi-annual. First year they are small with no spike and the second year they bloom. My DS, now 27, loved them as a kid and so do the gold finches. Patti

WOW Patti your garden paths are beautiful, makes me want to take down all the trees in my shade garden and start over.
Speaking of pictures I surely hope there will be one thread devoted to the RU. Iam so sorry I cant come t o meet everyone.
I want lots and lots of pictures of happy gardeners chatting and exchanging plants, and eating.

Wow, I have a lot to read through today when I get up. but for now, I just have time to post a few and then off to bed for a while.

I found this for the first time today as I was finding my way to the river (barely avoiding falling in!) to look for signs of the orchids. Still none, but I have hope.

Hot cocoa rose, thinking about opening. I would bet a lot that after a day of 90 deg today, that it will be open by this evening. unfortunately it is supposed to be the cooler weather that brings about the more brown tones (the color I like) and hotter weather makes it redder. Oh well, I like it.

my orchids are just coming up from a new planting I did earlier this spring. I'm very excited to see how they do. Here's a night shot from last night. I'd seen Victor and WC's night shots and thought I'd give it a try..amazing how the blooms glow! It's a Rudbeckia that keeps coming back. Al gave me the seed which was wintersown two years ago.

I think that this little hosta bloom will be open as well.

Wow Anita, you're right.... your Rudbeckia is glowing! That's a really good shot, especially if you haven't done many of them before!! What kind of orchids did you plant?? I haven't had much chance to try many night shots as I need to get the flash fixed on my camera, which involves leaving it somewhere for a while and I'm not ready to part with it yet! :-p I love Rudbeckia's I need to get some more of the hardy ones. the last couple of years I have got a few, by mistake, of the ones that weren't as hardy as the tag said implied they were. I do think a couple of them reseeded though.

Just a pulmonaria leaf, but the light was just right so even the hairs were reflecting some.

a slightly confused Monarda! I like it though. it's going to be curious to see how the flowers turn out compared to the others.

ohhhh.... christmas!!! a couple maybe? I would Love that! Is it too hot now to send you the hosta's and stuff we talked about earlier? Or do you want to wait until fall? I'm not worried about packing them to survive, just a matter of if you want to plant. I FINALLY have a day off today (first day in 4 or 5 weeks) with only one appt and can get around to digging stuff!!!!

Whatta weed!!

Thanks bbrookrd! and ......

As you requested, here is a slant shot of the cacti table upon which most of my 150 or so cacti and succulents reside. The main characters here are my pachycereus cuttings.

When you think of 150 plants, you think "whew," but that isn't even the tip of the iceberg called "My Wish List." Anyone have any donations??!!?? :-) :-)

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

Beautiful shots bbrookrd and redchic! So much fun to see these beautiful gardens week after week.
I am trying to deal with the wreckage caused by thousands of pounds of roofing material being dropped around my house onto my flower beds and shrubs. Partly my fault for not protecting them better but it still makes me a bit queasy when I go out and survey the damage. The roofer said go down to the nursery and pick out a few hundred bucks in plants which is nice but some things that were damaged were not what you get at the local nursery. Trying to focus on all the beauty that remains in the garden today.
