June, Blooms 3
I don't blame you for getting excited, Dimmer! I never have too many of those pretty cloth bags..Nice one at that!
Awesome Pictures Everyone (as usual)........Gail I just love that Fancy Pants :) SOOO Pretty!
Kim, what a cute bag and so very you :) What a sweetheart that Miss Susan is :) I love those bags..........carry them around until they bust and just can't take anymore *lol* You should see the foolish thing I'm carrying right now *lol* Fake leather that is peeling everywhere *lol* Too funny.
All that's in it is my knitting and all kinds of information I printed off on how to grow gessies *lol* Too wicked funny. What a pretty one :)
Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing Sunday :) Red Sox are on and knitting needles in hand (when I'm not typing *lol*).
XO
Kim
what an adorable bag, lucky you.
bonnie
This forum has to be just the best one in this garden! Such caring and kindness shared here!
Dimmer/Kim, your flamingo bag is absolutely adorable! That's a nice size, looks like it will hold a lot of stuff. I love cloth tote bags and have a couple, with Cats all over them!
I don't know if y'all use the Plant ID forum or not but I saw this where Admin. is trying to get folks to check to see if they have any threads they forgot to close after receiving an ID for their plants.
I checked my info and found two plants that I had gotten correct ID's on but had not closed the thread.

It's late and I'm heading to bed but wanted to say Nice To See you Joining Us Kim! ^_^ .. glad your healing up fast and feeling up to posting! Your pictures were great! Ness's Jesse is beautiful!
Gail your streps are awesome as usual along with your begonias! Love that hoya too! Don't know what is up with that big ol' strep baby of yours with no bloom!!
Lin, you'll be happy to know that I had a friend come by yesterday with her 7 year old daughter and they were pleased to adopt some violets from me!! They have awesome big windows sills at their house and the violets I have given them always look so much better there than they ever do for me. LOL
I took some pictures this weekend and here is one of my favorites, this is Bristol's Swamp Thang! This came to me in a sellers choice package from Rob's Violet Barn last summer and it is just now putting on it's first blooms after dying back to a nub last fall ....
~Brenda
I didn't even realize Rob had a sellers choice.........might do that!
Swamp Thang is awesome as are all of Rob's plants
How Beautiful Brenda!
Those pings are so cute, I've never seen them before. You are doing awesome with them!
Love Fernwood's Morning Sunrise, what a pretty face :)
Just lovely ;)
Great start to a Great Day :)
Kim
Oh Brenda, that is SO awesome! I have NEVER seen that one bloom so please be sure to post a picture when the flowers open :)
Congratulations! She looks SO happy with you :)
Totally makes my day :)
Woo Hoo, that's GREAT!
Kim
Yeah, I find Streaker to be a little fussy too.
Yours looks GREAT!
Good Job!
Kim
Hello Kim and Brenda..........I love the white Russian......let me think of her name and I believe she is Ian Selena. If her blooms get pinker she is probably one of my all time favorites........Rozovyi Zhemchug
Gail she is the Rozovyi Zhemchug! I have the name written on the cup but just can't remember the spelling sitting here at my desk. LOL
I had a feeling she might get pinker as I can see the blush of the pink through out the bloom, I'll look forward to the more mature blooms!!
The other Russian I have from you is Lubimaia Dochka (had to bring the cup in here to get the spelling!) but she hasn't bloomed yet. Do you have a picture of her bloom??
These are two of the few violets I am keeping.....
~Brenda
I just took 4 blooms off of Lubimaia Dochka last night but I have a picture of her bloom. They are the biggest blooms on any av I have.
I think this may be the right picture.........but not positive.......but can tell you she isn't much different than this bloom.........
I think this one maybe a different Russian..........but Lubimaia is just as pretty....
I have the Russian violet called "Wild Orchid." I will get a pic. when the flowers open.
That is a pretty one Gail and I love all of the pictures.
Hi everyone,I have alot of catching up to do again.Beautiful pictures!
Kim,your mothers day sinningia is awesome.I bought seeds twice for that sinningia and both times none of them grew.Glad to see you back.
Gail,Beautiful as always. Those orchids are growing well for you.
Kim,Great bag.
Brenda,your streps are awesome.
Sally,beautiful Av's.
Jannich, it's SO wonderful to see YOU! I have missed you too :)
I'm going to have seeds (2 pods forming so far) so we will have lots to play with OK?
Kim
Here is a Russian baby blooming today. It was a gift from my Secret Santa (who is dear to my heart ^_^).
It's very hard to capture the fantasy markings on this beauty but in real life she is a real pretty mixture of white/purple/pink.
Presenting:
Kurtizanka
This is kind of a neat plant. It's called Chrysothemis "Black Flamingo".
The flowers are pretty small and look like "monkey flowers".
I have been trying to "self" every flower that opens but so far I don't see any pregnancy going on :(
It's a pretty yellow and combined with the orange calyx's makes a bold statement.
You know how there are plants that just "speak" to you. Their blooms touch your heart for a certain reason?
Well, with all the streps I have, Blue Mars is a real "speaker" to my heart.
I just love the color, the throat, the frillyness and the person who sent it to me. Brenda, I'm thinking of you and thanking you again for Blue Mars. She really brightens my day when she blooms :)
Lately I have been so focused on the things that are dying that I have been forgetting to appreciate the things that are thriving.
Being obsessive/compulsive isn't easy. It's so hard to not sweat the small stuff for me as I really take it to heart. I know "they are just plants" but when things are dying it really just has an effect on me. I'm trying to get better with it and not mourn the losses but focus on the triumphs :)
So this morning, these little faces were smiling at me and I appreciated each and every one of them.
I'm going to wrap up this morning's "tour of blooms" with an all time favorite of mine.
This little plant is constantly in bloom. Even if there is only one or two flowers at a time, it is always blooming. No matter how much I cut it to root cuttings, it just grows faster and fuller. I no sooner get cuttings rooted and I have to take more. I just love her.
X-Codonanthus "Vista"
Here's Episcia Pink Dreams...
(having trouble getting the image to work)

Celene, welcome and thank you for sharing your beautiful episcia picture.
Congratulations on the bloom too, how pretty!
I have only managed to keep one episcia alive (kee wee) and really appreciate pictures of well grown episcia as they have been little buggers for me.
Very Pretty!
Kim
Although I am not at home what a nice way to start the day with all these pictures! Celene, love your episcia and Kim!!! Don't every say you are not growing big time. Those are the healthiest and prettiest plants I have seen. You are making me jealous with your blooms from Vista.
Thanks to you, I might have blooms on mine someday. You sent enough cuttings that maybe she willl bloom before the year is over.
Kim, I am intrigued by that odd named plant....Chyro.......It is magnificent looking!
Kim: What a great bunch of Beauties you have growing! Wow! Those Strep's are Awesome! You really grow, girl! I Love that Chrysothemis ... I almost bought one of those to try a year or so ago, I think it was The Violet Barn that had it for sale. Is that an easy Gessie to grow?
Gail: Here's the info on Plant Files for the Chrysothemis: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/72716/
and info from Toptropicals: http://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/Chrysothemis_pulchella.htm
Celene: That is a lovely Episcia! I have grown to like the Episcia a lot because they seem to do well for me ... not like the Strep's which seem to only live for a week and then kick the bucket! All of my Episcia's came from trades here on DG. I have had most of mine for over a year and the only one that seems to bloom continuously is E. Pink Panther. I recently got E. Aloha Mauna Loa in trade and it has it's first bloom and I love it!
Well Hello Again Friends :)
I'm at work, working hard *lol*
Thank you both for the compliments *blushin' a little*. Of course we always show the pictures of the things that are doing well but keep the sick, dying stuff in the background far beyond the cameras shutter *lol*
So far I have found the Chrysothemis quite easy to grow. I do find it likes the water though that is why I have it on a wick. Yep, you heard it ladies, I have had to start wicking as I just couldn't keep up to watering everything individually anymore and it was stressing me right out. So even though I said I would never wick as I don't like the looks of it, you will notice that the Chrysothemis is on a little glass chubby jar with a string dangling from it's bottom *lol*
Hopefully I will have good luck rooting the 2 "arms" this fall :)
Hopefully there will be more bloom pictures to follow soon :)
Kim
