with a hand saw, I cut the old 4x4 gate post in half to make 2 posts. used another old 4x4 for a third post.
cut the fence length in half....

gate was put back into the rubble pile for now :o)

Job Well Done Anjl!! I've been off the computer for a while (too tired after spring clean up) and am amazed at how much you accomplished. I'm sure you mother will enjoy her new garden for a long time.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

I was working on this 'project' after the pine tree 'trim' and while waiting for the gravel to be delivered.

used an old 2 x 6 to put 'feet' on the fence posts...

posts are laying on the ground behind the upheld fence piece.

please excuse that horrible lady in that picture...its NOT the REAL me! lol! Its my the tired, dirty, hot and sweaty evil twin! lol!

and moms new 'country garden fence corner' is standing on its own! :o)

fence is painted with white barn paint and placed in its new home :o)

While I was painting, the 'boys' were hard at work spreading the pea gravel on moms garden paths :o)

oops! fogot the 'sawing' shot! lol!
this would have been a much easier project had I been at home with DH's workshop at hand :o)
all those power tools...etc. Instead, just using good ole elbow grease and old fashioned hammer instead of a automatic nail gun! :o(

Absolutely AWESOME job by you and the family, Anjl! I love it! I know your mother is tickled to pieces with what a beautiful garden she now has. I hope you will post any future photos of your mom's garden as she shares them with you!

Y'all did an unbelievable job! Big pat on the back for a job well done!!! Be safe driving home!

Wow Anjl, Are you making a Texas stop next?

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Brings tears to my eyes - such wonderful family love . . .

Anjl, please move to the PNW as soon as you can - we want you here!!

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Is your family great or what? YES you are!!! WOW

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

AnjL- AWESOME!! What an accomplishment, I feel so proud for your whole family. You truely are an Angel ;o), You are all Angels!! I'm sure you can't wait to move out Cali now...hee hee hee. You know I'll be right behind you!! Just 7 more years of school and we're outta here!!LOL!!

Again though, WOWSA.....I'm amazed at what one family who can come together can do in such a short time. Thank you for all the pics along the way. And I hope to see more soon of the progress. You know us "Nuts" have lots of bulbs and seeds to pass along if your momma needs any to fill in the gaps ;o)

Sonoita, AZ(Zone 8a)

OK, I have taken pics of my plans etc. I will post them on a new thread. I welcome coments, opinions and advise! Here is the link, if I've done it right http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/869888/
If not, I have posted it in Beginner Landscaping Forum

About the plans - all you need is to scan them to a file - jpg or otherwise and have them emailed to you or saved to some sort of external memory device - chip, thumb drive, CD. I think Kinko's could probably do that. Then just take the CD or drive with you to the machine you use to log onto Dave's. Save the file somewhere you can access it (maybe the desktop) and then attach it like any other picture.

Or, like you just did, Sonoita, you can take a picture and transfer that file to your computer to post. I'll check out your link!!

Anjl - incredible job. You are so handy. The woman who does it all, bears children, drives long distances by herself, does carpentry, digs, hauls. What is it you don't do? I love the final result.

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto, to everything else already said.

Gosh, I too had tears in my eyes as I opened up the final pictures...while I stared in disbelief. You've done an amazing job. You should be proud of yourselves. And what an example you've been to your son too! I'm sure he will never forget the gift of time and muscle he's given to his grandmother =)

You are my hero, girl!!!!!

God's speed on your trip home
Phyl
ps. where did you get all the thyme from?
