This a beauty - I don't know the name but it almost died the first year - the fragrance is heavenly!

Betty looks to be very healthy

A few wide shots, Jen! Not the best shots since they were taken at midday, but that's when I remembered. These are all in the back. This is looking toward the bench and arbor, which is covered with New Dawn rose and The President clematis. The bed is a combo of geranium, crape, DL's, Russian sage, Golden Jubilee agastache and the peach tree.

Next - looking up from near that bed.

Newly expanded shade bed - also under construction. This is where I planted the three JM's this spring. Been filling in with fern, hostas and ginger so far.

Last shot - my favorite grass - Karl Foerster.

1/2 acre - every plant/tree/perennial known to man - apparently a lawn - and space for new construction?? hard to believe. is this an "internet" garden:) I need to get that garden shoe horn - where did you say you found it?

Caldwell, NJ(Zone 6a)

I have had Cornus Kousa Satomi for years and although it blooms it has just a very light edge of the pink to the bracks, and that not very pronounced. Do you think I don't have the real plant, or could it be something in the cultivation and/or soil?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

where did you buy the tree - i have the same problem from one bought last year at home depot.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The shoe horn is a tightly held secret! Here is Happy Returns.

Some shots from the front. Have a few invasives in the front - chameleon, gooseneck loosestrife, Northern sea oats (grass) and Eupatorium Chocolate.

Under the large JM. This is where I planted six dwarf JM's last fall. One has bitten the dust and will have to be replaced. Also have hosta, hellebore, forsythia Kumson, gold hydrangeas and heuchera (and chameleon!).

Please note, I think, maybe not, but I do think I saw A Weed in one of Victor's garden pictures ! What's up with that, Victor? Patti

Patti i saw more than one weed - he did say earlier this is when he gets lazy - lthough I walked through my yard today and saw some big ones and i'd just weeded over a week ago.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Actually, the only real weeds in the last bunch of photos is the chameleon.

Edited to say I do have plenty in my garden!

Wow....what amazing eye candy catching up through all these threads! Gorgeous shots, everyone! Victor - thanks for the tour of your shoehorn. Very elastic......and simply beautiful!

Chuck - great shots of the baby wrens!

Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

Victor, in the front picture. How long did that take to fill in. i'm trying to get a rough idea from everyones picture how old the gardens are.
Chuck

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did the babies eat that bug, Chuck??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well I have changed things out a few times, but about five to seven years, Chuck.

Victor- Your gardens are amazing. So full & beautiful. You do such a wonderful job of spacing everything out. I get impatient & plant too densely. They are all just lovely!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you very much. Dense is good! Best remedy for weeds. If I had the money to plant more and bigger, I would have. But it is fun to see it develop over years. Just wish the invasives never happened.

The baby birds are a sad story. The parents appear to have abandoned the nest. I watched for about 3 hours yesterday with no sign of either parent. They both gather food like there were twenty birds instead of three. I did some research and it is not uncommon for the female to start another clutch of eggs before the chicks are fledged in another nest. When this happens the male will usually take over single parenting and continue to feed the birds. There is no sign of either. I am a firm believer in the way that nauture works in these cases , but I did feel bad for them and tried to see if they could be fed in the nest. I tried the ant you see, but they receeded far into the nest when I tried so I guess that I won't become Daddy Bird.
Chuck

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wait, Chuck, who is gathering food for twenty birds?
