For anyone who likes daylilies with eyezones, I planted this last year and this was the first bloom this season. It is Siloam Bo Peep from Oakes.
June Pics Continued
I love the Lilies and especially like the look of the Lavender planted with them.
Wow, Debbie! That arisaesima is stunning! Have you seen the photo of the monster one at Plant Delights? Hmmm, now I'm not finding it. I saw it last year and it was huge.
Pretty daylililes, Wisdom. That Night Beacon is gorgeous. Claypa, that lily Royal Sunset is beautiful.
Sure are beautiful lilies posted here already. wisdomskr, that looks so pretty!
Here's what I found today- A red, andnew double bloom from Ruby and John. I had this right one labeld Golden Accent, and the left one Ruffled Apricot, but it looks like I switched labels! This double is the fancest DL I have now.
hart, it's hard to tell from the picture, but that Arisaema is at least 3' tall! The stem was huge coming out of the ground this year - about the size of a silver dollar!
I love this Yucca 'Color Guard' for its bright foliage year round in the garden, but this year I finally get to see it bloom - I think I'm going to have to prune the lower branches of the tree!
Although I have this plant in our gardens mine doesn't look anywhere near as nice as this one. Took this over the weekend at my best friend's - she's a newbie gardener and I'm so proud of her :) Scutellaria ovata - it's hard to see from the picture but the foliage has a silver sheen to it and it blooms for a long time.
All- Beautiful lillies!!!! Some of my glads are just starting to bloom.
I'd love to spend today in the garden but I have 4 Commisison quilts that I must get to work on. So this weekend will be spent in the dark & dreary basement. I will open the back door and let some fresh air in.
You all have a great day gardening - looks like wonderful weather.
RCN: Those photos are lovely! I had never heard of the Geranium "Patricia" (if that is what it is), but I love it now. I can't wait for you to post the new thread of the plants you just got.
Found RCN's new thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/866340/
Beauteeeeefuuullll!
Ditto- I bet Shirley has one gorgeous yard.
I love that "Cappuchino Tango". I had equal numbers of bright pink, orange, & yellow Als. Now, this year I have over 20 of the pink and just a couple orange & yellow. The pink are tall and the others short. Not a clue what happened. They are around the back side of a garden so all in the same environment.
AAMills WalMart has pots with @10 cannas for $10. A pot of short yelllows followed me home!!!! I already have a patch of tall reds - not yet blooming.
Time to go turn off the front sprinkler. Figure if I watered this AM it would surely rain this evening!!!! I have a ton of quilting to get through so I'll be indoors today (as I was most of yesterday).
Happy Gardening!!!!
Before my husband and I moved into this house, we lived in an apartment where I had a fairly large container garden on the deck. I had mostly veggies and herbs, roses & mini-roses, and various perennials planted. I also had three daylilies-- Hyperion, Strawberry Candy, and Rainbow Candy. Strawberry Candy died before we moved; I remember that very clearly. So, when we got here, I had two containers of daylilies that I planted first in a nursery bed and later transplanted to my new perennial bed. I remember Rainbow Candy blooming last year, but not the one that I assumed to be Hyperion. Hyperion had bloomed on the apartment balcony, though, so I knew it was labeled correctly. I just assumed that the shock of transplanting last year kept it from flowering.
Well, fast forward to this morning when the supposed Hyperion bloomed. Um... it's purpley-red. Definitely not Hyperion. So the great mystery is... where the heck did this lily come from and what is its name? And where did Hyperion go? Gardening is weird sometimes. :-)
Qwilter- it was pretty hot today, you didn't miss much!
Kubileya- what a nice surprise, beautiful colr
I found this today- the first ever bloom for me on a geranium Pratense- grew them from seed, horribly abused them as babies but with DG conscienciousness ~and alot of rain~they are going gangbusters this year. It's darker than the pic appears but I couldn't wait for dusk.
ladyg- So far my geranium has nice strong stemmed leaves, kind of a n open plant. I'll try to get you a full frontal tomorrow. I think claypa has a G pratense, or somebody I think mentioned it. Edited- My seed came from Pinetree. I just looked thru the catalog and it is now a last chance variety. They only say G pratense, no cultivar. I'll sure try to save seed.
Now How do you grow foxglove volunteers that blow away the ones I've had for several years??? I grew these from seed also, had them one place for a couple years, moved them to this spot which ic part shade, the sun gets over to them some in the afternoon, nothing in back to make it a hot place though. No problems with tree roots there. Sandy soil can be dry esp the last few years. What do they like?

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments.
stormyla: My Asiatic, "Cappuchino Tango" grows on the South side of my house in full sun for easily 12 hrs a day. That could be why the colors are so vibrant and deep.
Sally: Congratulations on growing your geranium Pratense from seed. Very pretty!
Chris: Love your waterlily, Texas Dawn. Beautiful!
