Happy Birthday, Liz and best wishes for many more!! ;)
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #48
That is so neat!
Now Scott who is on the 'special drug task force' for the Army was spending the day with Bernie, Scott tried to get me on his bike, but I passed, one thing at a time..was invited to Bernie's for a b.b.q. tomorrow at which time Scott said he'd take me biking..might be a reason to stay home...
Now back to my gardening...
turning into an all day task...
Oh my Betty, I should send you both of my wrist braces and then you can just be "One hot biker Mom!!"" LOL Enjoy your gardening--trying to pack to go visit my Mom but really don't want to leave my plant babies!! Oh well, Mom comes first!! Always!!!!
Bev, am I ever glad I read about the hostas. Geez and to think I almost did the same thing with mine. Talk about being upset? After all these years of wanting them and finally having some grow--I would have been devastated to say the least. If I were closer I would definitely buy some, burned or not.
Hello everyone. Just been lurking around this week, enjoying the thread and learning as I go. Keep up the flow of information.
Has Laura's grandbaby arrived yet? Did I miss it?
Have a great weekend everyone, come on Betty one more ride! Be safe.
OMG Betty..your boys have all the toys....I can imagine that going on the three wheeler was great fun.
Bet you had a lot of eyes looking your way.
Did you wave at all the people? LOL
I would be a bit nervous on the two wheeler when they turn corners..
LOL
Happy Birthday Liz..hope your day is full of surprises and happiness.
Bev..good luck with the Hosta sale..what a deal...
Early this monring my friend Sheila callled and asked to borrow my electric edger..so off she goes..and she got her small lawn edged.
When she brought it back..she suggested she help me do mine..boy what a big job! I am exhausted! It sure looks nice though.
Going to my sons for dinner tonight and to see their vacation photos.
Need a nap first..LOL
I gotta buddy who has a trike, he built it from a kit with his Harley....It's beautiful too, like yours....nice paint job, chrome and all.....You're braver than me Betty, I ain't getting on that thing.....:)

Hi Everyone!
Wow what a glorious Day.
Beautiful sunshine 75 and gues who hasn't done a stitch of anything but CHAT all day on the phone.
Wow, havent done that in absolute ages...
So off i go to work in the yard...Got to get my fire going soon.
Betty, aren't you just adorable on the bike. Glad it was a nice ride.
Bev, was bummed to see you had a problem with your hosta. made have a little pout for you.
Good luck seeling the babies. How fun to have a whole community garage sale.
hehe, I best get something in my hands!
Quiet here today so Cheers to enjoying a beautiful day!
Storm blew through all of 5 minutes, and now it's one of the nicest of days..cooking supper, Jeff/Greg out boating with friends so didn't put anything on to make supper for them, am sure they'll eat at the Town Dock..glad it's not raining, DS Jeff rarely get to come up and enjoy..
I'm already in my p.j.'s, worked in the garden and sure needed a bath so why get dressed again..now I'm looking around trying to determine if I want to JUST laze around or find a project to work on...
Bev, how did you make out at the hosta sale? are your babies all gone?
Judy, sometimes you just have to sit and make all the telephone calls, our lives get so busy that we start drifting so time to re-group and call the family and friends..
A young woman from up the street dropped by and asked if she could come and see my back garden...says she and daughter often walk by and wonder what's behind the house so gave her a tour...she lives at the upper end of the street, has teens..she'd love a similar yard but first she must have the energy to cut her front lawn...I rarely see it cut..lol
Ohh Carol, how much hedge do you have? was a nice day for it, bit hit I would guess doing it..
Paul, brother has 3 of these 3 wheelers, 2 harley's, antique truck, jeep, atv...loves the toys...he invited me tomorrow for a 'pot roast' luncheon, we'll see..I have things to do around here..he tells me that he'll teach me to drive one of the trikes so he/his wife and I can go riding..not bloody likely..lol...or I truly would have a story to tell..
afternoon all,
thank you for all your warm wishes dont worry paul its ok the big 50 lol
stopped in for a minute just got back from a bbq at the inlaws, had a nice time dh's aunt and uncle came by to it was fun now to rest for a hour and make way for another group with my family im tired already! and the heat just horrible today!
betty, omg lol how fun does that look!
ok judy see betty will get on that and i'll jump from the sky now we need to get you to do some kind of daring thing lol
will try to be back later to chat..
Bev...sorry! thought it was this weekend...might take my camera Bev down the street to the couple's house that gave me some plants this morning, they had a 'blue hosta' my goodness, I've never seen such a large hosta, had to stand maybe 3' or more and about 4' wide..huge/huge leaves...
Liz, maybe the blue/purple/orange hair dying when we get there might do the trick?
Do hope you are enjoying your birthday...
better make up your mind lol perm or fashion colors?? :o
Daring? Hmmm, you are talking to biggest scaredy cat.
...Um, Once I jumped from the cliffs in Jamaca, LOL thats about as daring as I get.
Steve and I sat watching and saying how we should do it. Well we had to have a beer over it
found I love Red Stripe! So, we met up with some people from Niles, thats next door to us!
Well they talked about jumping as well. So, I said lets just do it! We'll never have to say that we only thought of it.
So, there I stood on the Cliff jutting out over the Deepest Bluest water, I have ever seen in my life.
Legs wobbling, my mind screeming at me that I was nuts. I whole heartedly agreed but yelled what they hey,
What a rush!! Next thing I knew I was pulling myself up from way beneath the water. I did it!! was all I could say
was that was incredibly COOL! Have no desire to ever do it again though......
Also went over a 20 foot drop in raft, wowah, talk about scared, I was beyond scared! Begged to be let out before, Was willing to walk the rest of the way. Nope they had me captured in a rubber raft. Holloring for me to steer the back straight and hang on.
Every ounce of blood left my body. Just kept saying I don't want to do this, pure white...the rapids took our raft straight off in plunged to the water pool below, I screamed the entire way and it was Quick. When we hit bottom, people were literally thrown from the rafts. Not me, man I was hanging on for dear life. praying, crying laughing and swearing up a storm at how they made do this. LOL...After that, I never rafted again for 6 years. But I can proudly say I DID IT. It was the year of a drought so that 20 foot water fall, was but a trickle, we were insane, young and stupid!
So...Lets see my idea of Daring these days, Transplanting baby roses!
LOL...
I jumped off them cliffs seedtosser in 1969 in Negril....Would I jump today? If I had a life preserver, a football helmet on and a blind fold, well heck yea I'd jump again........:)
Paul from Alabama
haha Paul, Not to mention a bathing suit that don't give a Water Wedgie!!
OH GOSH that was awful...But Negril, If I ever go back I am heading straight there, and I am going to to Camp.
Happy Birthday Liz. Hope you have had a wonderful day
wow thank you all for your wishes...
had a nice time at both places was a nice calm day! was nice to come home and just soak my feet in the pool! will try to catch up in the morning
hello all,
Well ther news is...................................................................................
Its a girl, weighing 7lbs and arrived at 8.04am on the 22nd of june 2008.
mother and baby are doing well though grandma is exhausted! lol. She had a bit of a rough time as it was a fast delivery and has a large amount of bruising and a few stitiches but that will all heal fast. she is in good spirits.
she hadnt slept in 5 days as she had niggling pains that kept her awake... but full hard labour for six hours. She was so shocked as it wasnt like she thought but its done now.
Isabelle Rose welcome little one...
will post a pic later, its been like 40 hours since i last slept.....
x
Congratulations to you Grandma, best wishes to Mom and the little one. Looking forward to pictures! Being a Nana is hard work (wink) LOL
Congratulations Nana/Grandma,..how wonderful..and such a beautiful name ..Isabelle Rose..maybe she will become a gardener one day.
Now what do children call their Grandmothers there..any special names? I am called Nana by my grandchildren.
My close neighbour and friend is called Grandma by her grandchildren.
Betty..I was referring to a lawn edger..when I mentioned that my friend Sheila helped me with this job. This electric machine cuts a slice into the edge of the lawn where it meets the driveway., but then you still have to dig out the clump of earth and grass. It sure was nice to have Sheila's help. I bought this machine last year..but had never done the whole of the driveway as It was just too big a job to do by myself.
Here it is all done..nice and neat.
Congratulations to you and the newest member of your family and the mom and all of you.......
Paul from Alabama
Congrats on that new grandbaby ! BEV
This is a close-up..
What a difference it makes.
Now If I can just keep it up. LOL
It will edge flower beds too.
Liz..last night when at my sons seeing their photos of their trip to see the Grand Canyon, Death Valley Hoover dam, Las Vegas etc..they were explaining how the dry heat is so different to our heat here with humidity. They flew from Las vegas in a small plane ..then got into a helicopter that took them down into the Canyon and then onto a boat ride on the Colorado River. They loved it.
They had fabulous photos..
On their last day, Scott ..who loves cars and racing..went to the Mario Andretti race track and got to do 6 laps.
He was in his glory.
good morning all,
laura, congrads to your new grandbaby, glad dd is doing good.
carol, how fun would that be! loved the grand canyon when i was married to my first husband i wanted to take the hillocoptor ride and go down the hill on the burrows he just flipped he had some issues on how dangerous it was.. made me so mad!ahhhh and then death valley the most interesting place to see my favorite desert area, hoover dam no thanks i got out of the car looked down immediatly returned to the car for some reason that just scared me to death lol. did they take lots of pics?
to tired this morning, waiting for another roof estimate then dh's cousin has 5 trained border collies that are just incredible in agility and tricks he has made it to california to the alemeda fair grounds so were off to go see him and the dog show. still pricing garage sale things feel like i'll never get done!
well you all have a wonderful day...
Greetings and Happy sunday to everyone. Betty, what a fun life you lead. I loved the bikes. A person never knows what we will find Betty doing when we open this thread. ha-ha You go girl!!
Congratulations on Isabelle Rose. That is a beautiful name. Get some rest Laura.
Not sure what I will find myself in to today. My older son called an hour or so ago and said the he, Nikki and the baby were going to stop by at some point today. So, get to see Miss Em again!!!! Yippie!!!
I need to water my houseplants that are spending the summer on the screen porch in a little bit. The plants that are still inside need a good drink too. Am going to fix a pot of spaghetti shortly too and after that probably veg out on sofa for the afternoon.
It was good to have a weekend where I could stay at home and not have to be somewhere. Feels good. I turned the air conditioner on earlier today than usual. It feel so good that I may just stay inside and let John water the plants on porch.
Anyway, I hope that everyone else is having a good Sunday. Talk to you folks later on. Oh yeah, stay out of trouble Paul. ha-ha
Ruby
Morning, oh it's just shy of afternoon isn't it? What a storm we had last night, but it's passed and now it's another gorgeous day out...
Laura, welcome Isabelle Rose, what a lovely name, sounds so 'delicate' is she named after anyone in particular or a chosen name..can imagine how tired you must be, and it's Monday there isn't it.. will look forward to photo's..
Started my morning with Bernice calling at 7:00 to see if she could borrow 2 eggs, was making a desert for a due today and realized she had no eggs, knowing I'm up about 5 on weekend mornings she called, brought over the eggs and Cliff told me he had a bike in his garage that if I wanted to use it I could .. such beautiful trails our municipality have built..some right along the lake..so, quickly downed my coffee and out to the trails I went..I AM out of shape, so will add miles as I go out, got off the main trail down near son Greg's, Melanie/Kyle and Noah were away until late this morning so I biked over..imagine, beautiful day and 9am they are still sleeping, NOT, got them up..had coffee with them sitting near the pool while Greg cleaned it after our storm, complain, complain, complain...lol..Jeff is more like me, easy going (at times) so Mother had to give a sermon, Greg said he'd better start going to 'my' church then as I'm getting near perfect (brat he is)..Jeff said Greg's glass is 1/2 full, his 3/4 and mine 90%...lol...boy they take after their mother, here I'm trying to SIT, feet up lounging near the pool, made it about 4 or 5 minutes at a time, I must have said I was leaving at least a doz. times as I had work to do, GOT sat down, lol, then Greg's trying NOT to do things, difficult, Jeff's prancing around, he can't do sitting very well either, so finally we decide to come here..as I leave on the bike they tell me to be careful, I tell them that I've double insurance if I go accidentally lol so they tell me it's better to drive in the middle of the road and if I can't go from side to side, the cars will move..do so enjoy all our cabitzing .. they truly love me as I love them..oh, Jeff walked in the yard and said "mom it's so beautiful with all the flowers" and I shook my head 'right Jeff, you said it was junky' but as he said, when he saw it before it was just items, no flower growth, now the junk art is lost amongst the plants...can't win for losing...
It's large object pick up this week, so they helped me carry all I wanted to get rid of to the roadside for pick up, now Greg is off to Noah's baseball game then boating, Jeff just left for the city, golfing and supper and mom, we'll mom's trying to decided what to do..need to put that Muskoka Chair together so I can do my homework on it, gardens are up to snuff, so could also take some painting projects outside to work on..lol
Oppps someone is here..off I go
Hello everyone. And congratulations Laura! Being a grandmother is wonderful. They say we get to spoil them and then send them home, but it's always seemed to be the other way around for me!!! :-) My grandkids have always minded me better than their parents.
Have a good day all
Carol, meant to comment on the good looking man with the car..lol..he's a hunk...how much fun is that..
Your yard is so manicured, beautifully done..sorry, don't know why I thought it was an hedger..sure hope you are enjoying the kind of day I'm having..for a day they called for rain, I'll take this...
Can't believe the day is passing so quickly and not really a thing done that I had on my 'to do' list..Kyle was at the door earlier, wanted me to walk down to the baseball field and watch Noah play baseball so off I went..
Got home, took the Muskoka Chair box out, put all the parts on the ground to take downstairs to put together and Greg's in-laws came for a view of the gardens with Greg, so funny the look on his face when his MIL was ooh ing and awe ing and loved the secret garden, wanted just about everything in my yard...only took me a sec to say 'see Greg' NOT JUNKY!
No sooner were they gone, Bernice dropped by with a pineapple cake for me, yummy yummy enough for all of us..wish you were all closer..then in comes Michelle, it's large object pick up and she had picked a few antiques she thought I'd like, had to say "NO" one was a large trunk..toooo big for me, one an old fashion suitcase, again mint but where would I put it..and then a white wicker floral holder..much too tall and you know, I just had to say no even though it was lovely she thought of me...so now it's at the roadside for someone else to perhaps think it's a treasure and pick it up...
One more time I'm going to TRY and get that chair and footstool put together even though I may not get my homework done, at least I'll get it ready, so off for one more attempt...
Just had to take a picture, most people have cookbooks with family recipe's to cook from on Sundays..but your friend Betty, she takes out her recipe book, find the 'St.Nicholas Face' recipe and is gung ho to make the faces needed for fall for our '1 day on line, St.Nicholas Workshop'..lol..nothing like being ahead of the game...
I'll be teaching about 4 workshops so do need about 100 faces, yuk, have to start now in order to have them done...girlfriend just reminded me I have 150 wine glasses to paint..I'll leave that for next weekend...
Chair has 1st coat of woodfiller, will re-fill screw holes in another hour once they are dry, then sand and put my pattern on..so finally I'm feeling productive...
Hi All!!! Hope everyone is having a nice day. I did get out and divided a couple of hosta. I spread two wheelbarrows of mulch arround but sun was too hot. Betty I need some of your energy, and why do you always show something yummy to eat in your photos. Trying to make everyone hungrey? LOL You go girl at least you get done with some of your projects. I get started and something else comes along and before you know it I have forgotten about the first one. Hugs BEV
