Wrote a little story this evening, doesn't have a blooming thing to do with gardening but I thought you might enjoy it if you have time to look at it......and thanks again for letting me post my stories up here, the ones about gardening and the ones, well not......

Paul from Alabama
Hi folks...
Great story Paul, as always. You know I love your stories.
Alaska is wonderful....at the moment sun is brightly shining, as it did till the wee hours last night, never did get dark, just got dusky sometime for an hour or two.
This morning I helped Ava work on some things for Carol's memorial service which will be Saturday, and this afternoon she took me on another tour....Seward Alaska is not only beautiful, but is a very historic town. The old and new blend very well together and it is a town that nature by way of earthquakes and high floods has changed the face of.
I am not going to attach pictures yet, I have taken so many it is unreal, and I really need to get them on my computer and organized before I start posting....I plan to use so many of them in articles also...anyway, unless I figure a way to do it in some sort of orderly manner, pictures will just have to wait.
I am very tired, mostly because travelling 3000 miles took awhile, as some of you know, but also because I have been climbing every mountain, hill and grotto in sight...and yes, Betty, I have a few back pings, but so far so good....I really am being careful.
I will check in again tomorrow....Gita have a good trip....Judy, so glad to hear the cabin is OK, and there is so much I skimmed over, but will go back to read as soon as I have more time.
Love to you all..
Sharon
Shar so glad you are having a great time, under the circumstances. I see pictures of ALaska and it looks so darn different than almost anywhere in the US. Can't wait to see your pix.
Betty yippie a rose bloom. yes! I wouldn't talk to the guy either, he obviously doesn't want to, but I guess if he spoke first I'd probably say something sarcastic like, "Oh were speaking this morning, hmm. good morning to you". It probably doesn't even phase him like you said.
Hot and my plants are not liking this 104 bit.
Good morning all...Paul I'm just taking a sec this morning, will be in the city by noon and look forward to my morning smile..thanks for posting it here, gardening, not gardening, totally off the wall, that's what we all enjoy!! lol
Hi to that lovely wife of yours...
Oh Shar, we can wait, know you are taking it all it, the beauty of it all and of course as you said before it feels somewhat like you knew what it would be through Carole/ Ava's and the others who describe day to day happenings..know you are as bad as I, you will just keep motoring sore back and all and once you arrive home you'll feel the pain..what a wonderful experience you are having..
Dawn, was just about to send you the 'link' no news yet on DD?
Laura, today is your Thursday and our Wednesday so they will be inducing DD today and you'll have another grandchild to love..you truly are a giving and loving person, how lucky that newborn will be...
Now Dawn, that includes you as well..
Laura...see MY 1st roses...yippee
Well, slept in slightly so better get ready..have to get a few more paints out as I painted on 'maple leafs' yesterday and just needed a few more colors to brighten things up.talk when I get to the office..
Linda says hi and bye, we're off to the big city, Birmingham, told somebody else I hadn't seen more than 3 cars together in a couple of months.....Lord I just wasn't made for city's......Traffic, malls, red lights, 6 lane highways, well moveover I'm coming through........:)
You take care Sharon from the hills of KY.....thinking about ya......
Paul from Alabama

cat, must be catching up on sleep now that your company free for a while.
everyone have a good day
OMG Liz, was just talking to my son and told him about my trip and he reminded me that I might need a passport to cross the border..here I thought it was only for flights..not I'm panicking..MUST go on line right now and see if I must..if so I'll go Friday to the main office but sometimes it takes weeks/weeks .. well now I'm in a dither...
Paul enjoy your day!
Close call Liz/Judy read the info and IF I read it right I'm ok to cross until 2009 with just my birth certificate..better get myself a passport..
Just got back from camping. I t was very nice but have to go back and mow tomorrow. Thank God we got the rider fixed. I f I had to push it one more time I think it would do me in. No Betty I do not garden out there. Just put in some hosta to make things look better. Here they are out front. Hi all!! BEV
Hang on. I have to put them in the puter. Not awake yet. LOL
The butterfly had probably just come out of a cocoon. Their wings take a while to get stretched out and dried. And the reason I know this is I had just attended a butterfly hatching party in Danville, VA this past weekend. SO many lovely butterflies, many I had never seen before!
Took the grandchildren over to Buffalo last year and then did Niagara Falls with them, only place we didn't get to was the Butterfly building, had wished to do so but time didn't permit..when I spent winters in Ft. Myers just south of us was a large exhibit..OMG I just loved it...
betty, looks like a birth certificate and id is ok, better check with them though...
can you see it now we'd have to go rescue you at the border lol
like distracting them so you can medal to the pedal for a clean get away!!!!
will have to ask judy if she has a ski mask????
Good Morning!
Gosh, I am backed up again...
First, Shar, How wonderful your trip sounds already! Very excited to see your pictures. Read your post in the other thread...Had to giggle at the 2 hour ride turning into 6. But I can just imagine all the beauty to be seen on the road. You have a glorious day/night...ROFL, I am already confused on the time issue.
Paul, Read your Wedding Story! Made me smile at the days events. What a happy day. Hi to Linda...
Gita, The story of your family and the struggles. Well, so touching. I think all families should stick togethr like that. We must in order to survive. Also, I was so delighted to see that your cousins now have there Apartments. That is some fight to keep what has been in the family. I will read About Your country sometime today. I am now very curious. LOL, I am much the same as far as getting things done. Pack the last minute, but always have that mental list working. ROFL, actually mental note with everything I should do, for me it's getting the actuall start, started!
Carol, Oh my gosh, What lovelyLovey gardens! Oh and the Butterflies, wow, Beautiful, photos you were able to take. LOL I have come to terms, I won't have lovely blooms. The deer have now found my hosta bed off the deck and so I now have just shallow green stems.
So with that being said, I am most certainly enjoying all of your blooms. So peaceful to see each day.
Hiya Dawn...What you been up to? Still waiting to hear on the Grandbaby!
I am excited for you and Laura...Should be anytime now huh?
Betty, I am so Pouting with you!! It is so disappointing to hear that all your hard work is destroyed in travel. I know people in all the swaps want to enjoy your art...When you come I am going to send you home with all kinds of packing material! OH, Thank Goodness about the Birth Certificate to get ove the border. If you go to Florida again in the Winter then You might want to apply for the passport now then...Then you won't have to worry about it in the months ahead. LOL add that to your mental list.(cracked myself up there) heheh, it's early.
Ves, Truley enjoyed your garden display...My your gardens are really flourishing. One would never know how late Spring came to the Great Woods. Now i have got to say, I have Sweet William and well it never gets tall. Stays very low to the ground, like only 3/4 inches. and my blooms are only white. Do I see your are purple? Very Pretty.
Oh which reminds me, Carol...You called your Rose Josephs Coat. My baby rose is also Joseph's Coat but mine are White. Which of the roses in your photo is JC. If it in the back, I am wondering if it is actually Jacobs Ladder. Is it sort of tiedye...Only because, didn't think JC came in anyother color but White.
LOL, but I am no Rose expert eighther, just curious.
Hey, Ill be back in a bit...
enjoy the day in meantime.
Was thinking much the same..just forgot about going to get it..if it is not needed as yet think I might do it through the postal service then if it takes 3 or 4 months I'll have it for Christmas..
Couldn't you just see us in that 'skit' omg..too precious
Paul just read your story..OMG the office staff had to come in and see what I was laughing about..I can't imagine sitting there taking the butt of Don Rinkles jokes...absolutely hilarious...
Keep thinking how many more stories could Paul from Alabama possibly have..guess I'll find out...
Went to Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto to a show, country and western singer back then Carl..can't for thelife of me remember his last name, but he took a purse from a lady in the audience and made fun of the contents, was funny but thought perhaps it was someone they had put in the audience..but perhaps not, maybe she got shown to the large big table out in front...keep them coming..
Bev, sounds as though you need a lot of energy looking after the 2 places..lots of grass to cut..did the people who purchased your 2nd lot move a trailer in? can't build a cottage there can they?
Although cold, I see blue sky, calling for rain later today..let's hope the rain ends by Friday aft...could do a lot of projects this weekend outside..
keep putting off putting the muskoka chair back together and foot stool that I need to do about 5 hrs. of homework on, better get at it..class is in 2 weeks..
Another QUIET day in the office lol..but I went downstairs for coffee and said, 'coffe anyone' Paul and Suzanne answered but not my Wayne...oh well his loss..
Hahah, Liz...Don't have a ski mask, LOL we would have to use stockings, holy that would be a hysterical site.
i can picture a Laverne and Shirley episode outta that one...
Quick you Charm the guy at the border and I'll wave betty Past.
ROFL...we could be armed and dangerous with Garden Utensils...
what was the saying, Up your nose with a rubberhose kind of threat. Will have to tie the guy to the Arm that goes up and down., give him a ride until he lets our Betty pass.
Good Morning everyone! It is a beautiful day here in Virginia. Actually kinda cool! Very low humidity!
I'm home today with DS. He has a severe ear infection - innner and outer ear - and is in a lot of pain. I have got to get back in the swing of getting the drops in their ears after swimming to dry up the water!! I have to do this with the dog too!! I have tot ake the dog to the vet this afternoon for what looks like an eye infection (from the lake). So the boy and the dog asleep on the sofa!!
So....yesterday I got to sit in the front row of an event here at work. Our guest speaker? Peyton Manning! OMG!!! I was 20' away from him. He walked right by me when he came down the aisle. I comtemplated throwing myself at his feet but thought better of it since I probably would have ended up on Sports Center PLUS have been fired! He is a very funny guy and just listening to him and his sweet southern drawl was a thrill! A lot of funny stories from his life, his work, etc. We were told no cameras so I didn't bring mine but people had them so I'm kicking myself!! Hopefully, I can get a picture from someone who got them. Anyway, it was a nice treat!!
Sharon, I am SO jealous of your trip to Alaska! I can't wait to see your pictures!!! Enjoy your time there (as I know you will!)
Well, off to check on the boy!
Hugs for now!
J
If anyone sees the Moon tonight and it looks strange, it's a Moon Illusion: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/16jun_moonillusion.htm?list914996
Just laughing at you Jeannine, you getting all ga/ga over a star..Suzanne and I were just talking this morning as the news announcer said Paul 'Beetles' turning 66 today..were saying we couldn't imagine any star that we'd act agog over..and here you are saying it could be "Peyton Manning" lol..bet your son was waiting at the door to hear of your adventure..now did your family know which star was coming..shucks, you should have brought a camera 'just in case'..am sure others will share..
Oh, sky turning black again..and what's it like in your neck of the woods...
So gllllaaddd some of your are able to keep me company today...
Might have an afternoon nap as I'm back to teaching tonight..
Dragon, thanks for the link, have the girls tonight but might have to take a break to check out the 'moon illusion'
What major city is near South Boston, tried to locate to mark you down on my 'office DG friends' map but couldn't see it?
Just found it, not that far from Gita, Gardengirl, Tropicanna...just might later August take 4 or 5 days and travel over that way..
Sure Betty - would love to see you! I'm actually in the county, about 12 miles west of South Boston. The middle of nowhere, 2 hours southwest of Richmond, VA and 1 1/2 hours north of Durham, NC, LOL!.
Have that travelling bug..lol..
Enjoy yourself Sharon..in the big A. Envy all who could take a trip anywhere...
Doing great here Liz. How about yourself?
How many more weeks now, Betty? I bet there'll be tears and hugs and more hugs when you all get to meet.
Paul, Skeet must be enjoying the 'zoo' above with Don Rickles the gamekeeper!
Have a good day everyone.
Blessings galore,
Jaye
Oh Betty - that would be fun! I'm gone the last week of Aug so come before then!!! :)
Jaye, will be leaving 3 weeks from today but Liz will be arriving 3 or 4 days earlier, so they'll perhaps use up all their eneregy before the 'old' lady gets there...
Was just thinking that after using a few days I'll have about 3 more, so if included in a weekend, I could probably scrounge 5 or 6 days..we have 2 1/2 weeks off at Christmas when we close but I normally use it for Florida..(hoping to go again this year..maybe Aunt Muriel needs a ride) lol
Awwww now that's the life, what more could someone want...out in the sun not a care in the world...how old is 'Blue and Snug'
Bev, are these yearly rental fee lots or is it a park like we have where you purchase the land and paymaintenance fees? think you said you sold it, so you must own it...it's wondeful that you are so close to the park theat you can go back and forth..
Bev was that a 'type 0' or is it '20' OMG that's quite an age, rarely happens for dogs to live that long? Oh look at those Canada Geese, are they ready to fly my way???? April to Nov. wow, our parks here open from May to our Thanksgiving which is mid October...by end of Nov. we could be having snow..lol..no fun camping then..
Is it time to go home yet? Surely it is..nope another 1 3/4 hrs to go..I'm feeling so very heavy and uncomfortable today that I don't know where to put myself...think I'll just snuggle into this office chair and have a snooze..
Just a quick check in to say hi. It's hot again here today but more storms tomorrow. Hope you are all having a good day
No guys she still has over 2 months to go and we need to have her baby shower still. Laura you must be excited though.
Betty is it normal for mail to take a long time to get from Ontario to here? We ordered something from Ebay and have been waiting 13 days so far.
I see gopher activity and ant larva killing my plants, I lost some butterfly bushes, ggrrrr. I see a hollyhock tipped too, so I need to see why.
Hot hot hot
Ants have been eating my flowers off at ground level. My coneflowers and Blk eye susans. I took and sprayed the bottom of them and the rest with ant killer??? BEV
