No, those plants are not new, Gail. Just new pictures. They keep growing and I get new pictures.
Oh, maybe you mean the new shelves coming this week.
June Blooms 2
I was just teasing you as I see you are falling in love with african violets! My friend from Houston is bringing me two more shelves for existing plant stands in the house. I am loving sinningias and streps.
Yes, the AV's are my favorite for sure. I have a few others like Streps, but the leaves and forms of AV's are just YUMMY! ha. Great about your new shelves.
My new ones are due any day!
Here is one that I havebeen groing scent last year and it the first time that it has bloomed Its called Crystal Beauty and You guessed it , Its a Strep Still growing my AV they are doing pretty good I am thinking about moving my Newest shelf to the Patio Door its a double so I only use 1 side anyway we will see
Dimmer
Been Working Hard and have a day off thursday
Crystal Beauty is such a pretty soft color, Dimmer. Sorry you are working so hard in this heat!
I have a weird strep baby called Crystal Dawn.........let me show you her leaves........she hasn't bloomed yet........I need to look her up on the STrep site and find out what she is supposed to look like.
Thats pretty cool leaves looks like me Tall and skinny HAHA
Dimmer
I looked her up and her foliage is beautiful but the bloom is nothing to write home about! (LOL)
You probably are a tall lanky lady..........people like me are jealous!
Your Crystal Beauty is a little beauty Dimmer!
Gail I have one of the Dibley's Crystal series .... Crystal Ice .... and her leaves are just like the ones in your picture! It's one of the things I like about her the most. ^_^ The smaller growing, tall thin leaves! Just a whole new look for a strep and a compact grower to boot!
She has filled out more since this last picture too...
~Brenda
Wow, Brenda, yours is a looker for sure. I have decided that using my fertilizer all the time doesn't get my foliage that nice dark green look that you have. What do you feed yours inbetween using the one that I have...........
Good ol' VF 11 is my standby for both gessies and hoyas. So far so good with an extra shot of your fertilizer for the gessies and the beer fertilizer for the hoyas every month or so.
Last Tuesday we had four inches of fresh snow and this week my grandkids went to the lake our town is built around, we actually had 74 degrees! LOL!
All three are coming here today so time to get busy....
~Brenda
Y'all realize how much you make me drool over those Strep and Sinn pictures, right?? LOL Love those Crystal Streps! The long, narrow leaves remind me of Strep. kentaniensis. Wonder if it's somewhere in the background? And that makes me wonder if there's a place to find out what plants are in the lineage of each of the Streps...
Anyway, I've been piddling around outside lately, and wanted to show a picture of something that makes me smile everytime I see them. I'm sure several of you remember 1gardengram, Diane. She passed away last June. A couple years before that, she had sent me tons of Hydrangea cuttings. I killed many of them, being my first time trying to root them, but a few lived, and they're blooming beautifully now. Just wanted to share a picture of them, because Diane spent a good amount of time on the AV board and those who remember her might enjoy it. ^_^
That is is sweet. Wish you had a way to contact her daughter and show her that gorgeous picture!
Thanks, Brenda.....I do have plenty of the Eleanor's fertilizer and will start using it some.......
Forgot to say to Brenda ........you live in God's country.......mountains and a lake! We are jealous. Those grands are having a blast with the pretty weather.
Hi All,
Have been coming home from work and just dropping... The animals won this week... Plus the change of the weather it is taking its toll on my body.... I got my order today from Brennea's and will try to post pictures later and I also got a pretty good picture of my Roulette Cherry and Roulette Azur together.. It is very pretty....
Ok off to get something to eat and thank God my son Mike is here so he can drive as my moter is on low at this time...

Susan

I have just fallen in love with sinningias............I still have about 5 times as many streps but working on propagating these sinningias.
I saw that Alissa in a picture and she is just too beautiful with her darker yellow throat...........In fact, I was making a 'pretend' order to Lyndon Lyons tonight.........and I do believe the first offering was Alissa but she is sold out so she must be very popular...........
I can't post without a picture of something............let me run and get my camera!
Oh, I am confused. I kept several leaves of Ice Pink Flamingo but when the plant didn't have much variegation, I forgot about her. Now when I look at her blooms, she has to be Iced Pink Flamingo.
Oh Gail Iced Pink Flamingo is Gorgeous! Do you think maybe the warmer temps down your way is what makes the variegation fade?..I heard that can happen....who cares tho that bloom is to die for..LOL..
Just getting a chance to pop in and look at all these beautiful blooms today! You ladies sure can grow em!
Gail ... I Love that statement about a "Pretend" order!! LOL. I have never purchased from LL or Brennan's but have oohed and aahed over some y'all have shown in photo's and have visited their websites a couple of times just to look. I hope maybe next spring to buy a couple of mini sinningia's. I just don't have the room for many large leaf plants. I am down to two light stands so space is at a minimum.
Work is very slooow going on our pool and deck area. They started the job last Thursday so it's been one week and not much progress. Seems like two guys show up @ 10 a.m. if we are lucky and work for about an hour and a half and then are gone for the day! Arrrgh! What ever happened to workers who came to a job site and got the job done in a timely manner? My husband has had calls into the owner of the company and he finally returned a call this morning and told my husband it should all be completed by mid week, next week ... Ha! I will believe it when I see it. You wouldn't believe the way those guys worked, sloppy and intermittent. They ground out cracks in the deck and filled them with whatever the stuff is they use before they cement over the entire deck. We found one crack they just completely missed filling and they were gone so my DH mixed up the concoction and got the last crack filled. They troweled over the entire deck with a thin coat of cement today and I was out there this evening and couldn't believe the edges and places they missed. The owner tells us it will look beautiful when it's all done. I sure hope so! So far we have not been impressed with the quality or quantity of work done.
Thank goodness the new roof went quickly and the job was perfect. The inspector still hasn't returned to do his final inspection, I noticed the papers for him are still hanging on a nail out on the front of the house but I imagine he will be by for that next week sometime. Still waiting on a call back from the air conditioning company regarding their guy having his foot go through the ceiling when he was looking for the freon leak last week! My husband repaired and plastered both holes in the garage ceiling (one from the guys foot and the other a square he had to cut to make the repairs once he found where the leak was!)
Seems to be one thing after another sometimes when you are a homeowner, huh? Sure will be nice when it's all done and things are back to normal. I am getting real antsy to get my plants and furniture all back inside the pool enclosure and on the wood deck. I have a huge rattan etegere (sp) that holds many of my birdhouse collection, sitting out in the back driveway along with a plastic plant stand and a lot of potted plants. I was told I have to either cover everything out there or move it to a different location when they begin mixing the coating and coloring for the deck next Tuesday. I moved so many plants out into the backyard under the trees and behind the shed in the shade ... I think I will just cover all the ones sitting on the cement driveway with old sheets to protect them.
I hope everyone is having a great week. I ran up to Wal-Mart today and they had a table full of Olgevee Strep's for $4.97 each. Yep, you guessed it. I bought two. One is named Midas and the other is 'Zoe'. They have blooms but I need to groom them and cut off a lot of the dead and dying flowers. I will take a picture tomorrow. ^_^ Better get a photo before they kick the bucket in a week or two! I have absolutely NO LUCK with these things ... can't believe I bought them! Well, they were so pretty, and I was weak ... what can I say?! I do on occasion buy cut flower bouquets that only last about a week and I figured these two plants cost the same as a bunch of cut flowers, so why not? ... I could blame it on all of y'all for posting all the gorgeous Strep photo's! ^_^
Have a good night everyone!
Lin I bet you will be sooo happy when all the work is finished..I am sure it seems like it will never end..hoping everything goes smoothly the rest of the way...oo you bought 2 streps!! LOL.You just wait one of these days you will surprise yourself and be growing them like crazy..hope they do well for you..can't wait to see your pics : )
Hi Ladies,
I am sorry this is so late but has been a day.. I am going to post a couple of pictures... I don't know the name of the purple one with the double bloom in the middle but she is a beauty.... I love my streps and I got another new stand today just like the other one so I will have plenty of room for spacing my plants the way I like... I love to wake up in the morning to see who bloomed this beautiful morning and today it was Muse...
Ok I am off to bed after this.. My MIL's twin sister is coming tomorrow so I am hoping to be able to post in the next days to come but if not I am alive and just stressed and busy...LOL... This is Roulette Cherry and Roulette Azur.

Apparently the yellow flowering one is actually Chirita 'lutea' shown here: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.gesneriads.ca/Images4/1847s.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.gesneriads.ca/genchiri.htm&h=100&w=98&sz=4&hl=en&start=13&um=1&tbnid=jSopla4Tg3aI2M:&tbnh=82&tbnw=80&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimages%2Bof%2Bchirita%2Beburnea%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX
and here: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.gesneriads.ca/Images4/1847s.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.gesneriads.ca/genchiri.htm&h=100&w=98&sz=4&hl=en&start=13&um=1&tbnid=jSopla4Tg3aI2M:&tbnh=82&tbnw=80&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimages%2Bof%2Bchirita%2Beburnea%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX

Well, I guess it won't let me copy and paste each individual photo. If you scroll down to Eubernea you can see what it says and it actually has blue flowers and scroll down the page farther and you will see the one called Lutea with yellow flowers.

Everyone's pictures are so much fun to look at!
So many people have posted since I was on and I don't have a memory like some of you to comment on what everyone has posted.............except that I love looking at them!
Nancy,
Love that yellow strep. Is that a seed pod see? I'm all out of trading things but Ido have a 31 year old son who always remembers Mothers day, birthdays, X-mas.I could send him your way for a few days to work around your house for just one or two seed, hee, hee,
Beautiful streps Susan! R. Cherry and Azur are awesome!
Mis Lin.Your streps an episcia are beautiful.I wish my walmart would sell streps.Do you happen to remember if they were selling Cassandra??
Hi Jan:
Nope, the only two they had were Midas and Zoe. Now I gotta go look up and see what Cassandra looks like ... love the name!
I love Midas!!! She was the very first strep I ever had and Rain sent her to me.
LOL..Jan..I won't need your son to clean my house..LOL..If the seed pod develops its yours..you have much better luck growing from seed than I do...
