June Blooms 2

We're coming from here - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/856814/

You all know how I fuss about not being able to grow AVs. Well, I still can't. :oP LOL However, every once in a while, I come across one that is determined to grow and bloom in spite of me. Here's a mini NOID that Gail sent me some time last year. Imagine my surprise when I saw this pretty face smiling at me! ^_^

I may have posted this one before. In fact, I'm sure I have, but it's been a while. LOL

Sinningia 'Flair'

I posted this picture on the thread about my Violet Barn order, but not everyone saw that thread, so here it is again. ;o)

Lovely pictures, Rain!!! Precious violet! Violets are what I love for sure. I have four streps, two big Chirita's and one smaller one that do very well, lots of Episcia too. I love how soft and gorgeous AV's are.

I am going to order a new IGS shelf. I just feel too awful today, nausea. Can't even order a new one. Hope I can tomorrow. My standards are getting so big and I don't like them to touch each other, so I have to get a new shelf. IGS sure works well for me.

I love your little violet. I can't get enough variegation...

Thumbnail by Sallysblooms

That's beautiful, Sally! Almost as pretty as 'Sunlit Sugar Plum' if I'm remembering that name correctly. I honestly think if I could grow ONE AV well, I would choose 'SSP'. LOL

South, TX

Oh, I know. I could have 50 of the Sunlit Sugar Plum! It is COVERED with blooms right now. I wish I felt good enough to take new photos!!! This was taken last month. This girl keeps growing!

Thumbnail by Sallysblooms

I simply love that one! I honestly wouldn't care if it ever bloomed. LOL I'd be growing it for foliage alone!

I hope you feel better soon. ^_^

South, TX

I agree, the foliage is stunning and huge. The leaves are SO big.

Oh, how did I miss this new thread? Amy, that is a beautiful noid AV! Love the pink in those leaves and the white bloom really stands out against that pretty foliage too! I Love, Love, Love all plants with variegated foliage! Had no idea until joining DG that AV's came with variegated foliage.

Sally: Your AV's are just so pretty! Your photo's really are done well too ... love how you have the names on the pic's and, oh that Sunlit Sugarplum with the jeweled heart looks awesome!

Bonnie: I love that one called Mac's Luxurious Leisure ... gotta go see if I can google a pic of that one with the bloom to see what color the flower is!

:( I don't have any gessie's blooming right now. Hopefully soon though - I think I noticed a couple of buds on Chirita Aiko and maybe one other.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Everyone loves variegated foliage, don't we! Both Sally and Bonnie have some really pretty ones. I took a picture of the first bloom of Sinningia 'Touch of Spice' yesterday.

Brenda that is so incredible..Snow in June..wow that cooled me down in a hurry..lol..don't think I will be complaining about our hot temps anymore...
Kim I imagine how hot it gets hot with your job and know I could never survive work like that for sure anymore!

(Zone 1)

Ok, Nancy: Y'all can come to Florida and endure this awful heat - I'm going to Brenda's where it's a lot cooler! Wow! Snow in June!*%! I never had any idea it snowed anywhere in the U.S. in June! That's pretty cool! ( No pun intended!) ^_^

Our new roof is on and looks great! Now, who knows how long it will take the pool guys to get done. Two guys came on Thursday and hooked up a pump and then left ... the 16,000 or so gallons of water was drained within a couple of hours. They never came back on. Then Friday about 10 a.m. two guys showed up, began a bit of sanding and grinding on the cement inside the pool ... were gone before noon - I thought maybe for lunch but hubby noticed they had taken all of their tools - never came back! My husband called the owner of the company and left a message for him to call us. Apparently while speaking to the two (workers?) who were here, there was some confusion as to the way the pool deck was going to be done. The owner told us one thing and the workers told my husband something entirely different. So, I guess they figured they weren't going to do any more work until it gets straightened out as to what is going on. Supposedly the owner of the company is going to be here first thing Monday morning with the workers to go over the process with us. We may end up having a different company do the deck than is doing the pool. Whew! I will just be glad when all is done and I can clean that area and move whatever plants back onto the deck. We need to paint the aluminum panels of the pool enclosure and may tackle that tomorrow. I am hoping the pool and deck will all be done so I can arrange plants and furniture by the end of this month! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
