RC, that Beni fuji is incredible! Trying to follow along until I have some photos to share - in the meantime I'm really enjoying everyone's photos :)

great shots RC....

Victor the big allium are still standing... actually fading now but still up

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks. Isn't that just amazing. I have not a clue as to why it has come out like that. I'm definitely open to thoughts and suggestions. And, it's actually only like that on one side of the tree. The other side is the deep pink that it's supposed to be.

Love the Dogwood tree's RC.

RedChic:

Anna and I purchased 'Little Lanterns' from Home Depot last season. It's doubled in both girth and height since last year.

Celeste:
Thank you for the 'leads' on the name of the Columbine. I'll look them both up in the PlantFiles.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

The tall blue Columbine is definitely not 'Black Barlow', but it just might be 'Black Magic'. Once again, Celeste, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

This was a nice surprise this morning when I got home from work...it's one of my martagons...not sure which one.

Beautiful Thom! Lucky you!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

OOOOOOOOOOOOH Thom
I just planted Backhouse Martagons and I would dream they look like yours when they decide to bloom in a few years.
Yours are beautiful.
I also have the deep red ones from American Meadows but don't think I'll see anything until 2009 or10 from what people tell me.
All of them are planted in the Hostas I want to see them riseing up and attracting Hummers.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

I have 4 different varieties planted, 3 are coming up, not sure if the contorted filbert covered the other one, or if a rogue rabbit ate it. Long story short...fellow gardening friend who is a major bulb a holic (literally about 1-2K a year at Brent and Beckys alone!) surprised me 2 years ago with 4 of the martagons from Brent and Beckys as a b-day gift. This is the 2nd time the one in the pic bloomed, it will be a first for the others. They should be blooming either later on today or tomorrow. Will post when they bloom!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Allison. Great shots, Shelly. Nice Satomi shots. That certainly looks like Grace to me.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My Backhouse is from Brent and B's.
I had heard the bulbs take a few years to bloom so I'll be patient.
All bulbs were planted a month age and no sign of the Marts from either b&B or Amer Med.
I ordered a bunch of bulbs when B&B had their sale so they may not bloom this year either, some Lilium trumpets ans Orienpets. They have just popped up last week ,doubt I'll see blooms in July but there is always hope.
Your friend w/ the 1K orders from B&B must have acres to cover. I couldn't garden like that for two reasons, not that much $ and too old.

Thanks for the link RC - I feel better now. As i said mine is in full sun and is white with a tinge of dirty pink

Well Bill, at least your dogwood looks healthy! Hopefully it really is what it says it is and it changes colors next year.

I wouldn't hold my breath about that Beni Fuji though, I'm pretty darn sure that tree is having a sort freakish moment. The other half of the tree is the color that it's supposed to be! Nice deep pink without stripes. Wouldn't that be cool though!

Love the visitor Victor.... oh, and the plant too!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I don't remember who had the Dr.Seuss hydrengea a month ago but mine kept the small leaves near the tops of the stems and the new growth from the bottom covers most of it. Also going to bust out with blooms.

It is a never ending list Victor:) I'm looking to have grass paths not a lawn. Glad I bought the 33" wide mower last year. It helps me figure out how wide the paths should be.

Planted 4 clems today and moved another. JM ugi has a home as does JM carnival. And took down some of the hickory tree without taking out my peonie bed. Tied a huge piece off with ropes - wife thought i was crazy to think rope would not break - came down perfect. bragging rights for a day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

4 clems as in 4 for 3 sale, Bill??

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor--- When I asked about training clems into shrubs you mentioned Type 2 and Type 3.
What did you mean?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Pruning type. Type 3 gets pruned hard every spring - almost to the ground. 2's, once established, get a light pruning - just to the topmost buds. However, it's good to prune them hard the first couple of years to get a bushier plant.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Do we know what type they are when we buy them?
Is the nursery tag saying so?
Or is this just a system you invented.

Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

I have a question. (When don't I have a question?)
When I went to work Friday my Paradise rose bush had one bud that had been open for about 2 days, one bud that was just opening and one bud that yet had to open. This bush was put in this year.
When I came home Friday after noon ALL of the buds were GONE! I mean bitten off.
Now I'm not an expect on roses. What do you think did this dasterlly dead? Do squirrels eat roses? It and one chipmunk are the only things around that I think might have done it.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm guessing deer, Chuck. Flower buds are like bonbons to them.

Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

The only dear around here is the one I'm married to! No can't be deer, I'm too close to downtown.
Chuck

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

How sweet, Chuck. You're a good man.
Don't know what got your roses, then.
