Whats Blooming outside your door part 3

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I have a beautiful vine maple on my property that, for some reason, chose to stand up. And I have hundreds that want nothing more than to "vine". I would love them if they behaved. I know where you're coming from, Annie.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

If you get them out of the way of other trees so they are not fighting for the sun they will grow straight up. The vining is a result of a yearning for sunlight.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

That sounds good, but I have several that didn't get that memo. LOL

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

LOL, they are trainable, just like other trees...lol Sit, stay, stand...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Mine has been very cooperative, and the dog prunes it nicely under neath. she likes to scratch on the branches just her height.

Neo, will be glad to take some to Carla, as a time frame I have this week really sucks, Work Work is taking its toll, the only time for you to get them to me would be Thur. after 6pm I will be home. anyother night I get home at 10:30 pm. Or let me know what day you want to drop them off and I will let my DH now you are coming. O and don't forget me LOL

Found this large mushroom hiding out under the brussel sprouts. Sure a shame that these are not edible. I have had so many mushrooms this year. They look yummy..but I know better!
Want to live and enjoy my daughters & pets and garden of course!

Last for this evening, a beautiful pristine white cosmos with a white spider! Snapped this picture quickly! Need to get pretty close when shooting on macro setting! These little guys jump!

Great idea with the smokebush, Kathy. I have trumpet lilies in orange shades - African Queen, and some others, planted underneath my purple smoketrees for just the color effect you describe. Then, for summer I have tall double orange daylilies. They should be better this year than last year, I hope. Here's one of the lilies from last year. I had not thought of putting the euphorbia under them, but cool idea. I have a very tall orange one that I am more than happy to share with you. I think it's 'Dixter' but I'm not sure. It gets to be about 4-5 ft tall and the bright orange bracts come in mid spring. Let me know if you want some because I'm sure I'll be pulling out part of it later or it's going to encroach too far into the bed. I also have offspring from my smoke trees if you are interested. They are NOIDs but they are nice colors, and great fall color.

"half of what we do is moving what seemed like a good idea yesterday.." ROFLOL!! Truer words were never spoken! Is it too late? Can I move stuff now?? Like Heidi says, no plants has a true home until it's been moved at least three times.

Cocoa, glad you like the rose! Roses in Washington with no fungus? One word: Messenger. (Well, that and growing them on their own roots.) An awesome, organic product. In a cold wet spring like we have, I couldn't do without it. This year, even my spirea and my native snowberry have powdery mildew! But my roses don't. Should have sprayed everything in sight.

Bea, love the NOID Iris! And the sweetpea bush. Is that a baptisia? It's a nice looking plant.

Beautiful pics Bea, especially the all purple iris. How do you find those adorable little spiders? LOL

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

sally..Believe me, I don't go looking for spiders. They just find me.
I know some people love spiders, I am not a big fan. They creep me out! I respect them..give them their space..but that's as far as my relationships go with them.

About the only thing I have blooming right now is this little cat who seems to have decided to live in this container, between a tomato plant and a rosemary plant - sweet little thing, it's lived in the neighborhood longer than I have. I fear its owners have left (and it recognized a sucker long ago when it met me). It cries for attention - and has brought me gifts of rats, bunnies. Leaves them in the garage for me. I gave it a spoonful of cat food yesterday and it just scarfed it down.

My two cats (both indoor), Friday & Margie, are just enormously annoyed with this animal - and probably with me for paying attention to it! "It" has a name, actually (wears a little tag, but no address - I only know it lives on the lake) - Tinker.

Pixy.. I think my "sweetpea bush" could be baptisia or a podalyria calyptrata. Now I am leaning toward the baptisa due to the leaf shape. The color of mine is not like anything I can find on the net, but there seems to be many species. No tag on the plant and no receipt for this one in my file.
It does die back in the winter. Could be calling it a sweetpea bush as it's flower reminds me of sweet peas. Who knows?

Murmur..with the cold weather you have be having..kitty is just keeping your tomato plant warm. It may help! What ever it takes to get some tomatoes this year! Found a second tomato today. It is a cherry variety. About the size of a small pearl. We can only dream of a big juicy beefsteak right now.. Sun is out today..but only 47 deg
so far. Hope it is up in your area.

Pix - I get a better effect with the Grace combined with orange than I do with Royal Purple. I'm wondering if Royal Purple might look better with chartreuse (or lime green). The little Euphorbia polychromaI have from Heidi's is Bonfire. She has orange highlights, but she is still small. She needs sun to grow.

I'd love some Dixter. Thank you. As time goes on, I'm getting more and more partial to orange in the garden. So funny. I don't like orange in my carpet or on my countertops (but I guess that's PTSD from living through the 70's) . . .

Murmur, what a cutie pie kitty. I saw another post where there were four new kittens outside all curled up in a row in somebody's flower box (SCNewbie, I think). Must retain heat and look "special".

Bea - I'm a spider lover. I feel like they protect me from the ugly flying things by camping out like sentries around the house and setting up webs. Of course, I'm aggravated that they don't clean up after themselves. Anyway, you can call me for spider removal any time.

Katye's a big fan of baptisia. She has yellow. I got a purple one this year. I did think that your picture looked a little bit like it, but still think it might be different. Anyway, I love all flowers in the pea family (okay, maybe not vetch) - your blossoms are very pretty.

Beahive, Love you sun face.

Bea, I like spiders (and most other critters) in their element. In my house, it's spider beware. I love spider webs, especially when wet or after a freeze. But there's something attacking my roses that's in for a battle, one section on my favorite is almost lacy!

Murmur, from one sucker to another, thank you for looking after kitty. I don't know how people can just leave their pets but it happens all the time. I've had a stray living in my garage for a couple of years now. She's been spayed and wants attention but is too wild to bring in with my house cats. So she's my gardening buddy.

Katie59..More spiders on my evening photo stroll.
This one was hanging out with William Shakespeare. The rose of course..

Carole, you have a new found friend it loves you, Its there because it knows you have a kind spirit. Even tho your fur babies think differant.
If someone left it or it didnt like where it was living, I think you have a new kitty.
Hugs

Love the Pics, Bea
I have nothing yet, but there are coming, just don't know when. LOL

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Willowwind..the sun face is from a very exclusive gallery called "Rite-Aid"!! LOL. It's funny how you find the coolest things at the pharmacy sometimes. Go in for tylenol and come out with a garden
accessory.
Sally..I agree, in their element spiders are OK. Hope you find out what's eating your rose. Its been a tough rose season with all the cold and wet weather. I have some with black spot and some with mildew and some are just perfect. Make's you crazy..but I love my roses.
This is a new little CL iceberg starting her journey up the trelis with one single rose so far. She is so darling!

Had a great experience with another dragon fly tonight. I spotted him on a rock by the pond. Snapped a few shot until he flew around for a bit then landed on my first finger that was positioned on my camera to shoot the picture. What a dilema!!. A DF so close and I was bound and determined to get the shot. I slowly moved the camera from my right hand to left and he was still sitting on my finger. Well have you ever tried to do something with your non dominate hand. I suppose if I had a small pocket camera I may have had success. But my camera was to big, to reach my fingers
first to the focus lever and then shoot the picture. Trust me it does not work.Fingers can only stretch so far.. Anyway, I did get to see him up close and personal for a while. He is beautiful.
Here is a shot taken with my right hand!

That picture makes it look like porcelain. Really delicate. Should have a better name, the white fits, but iceberg makes me think of lettuce. :-)

Hey all, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of my "garden" family. Please greet Perry Podsworth. He is a good boy, a bit on the tall and lanky side and has a huge head..that we try to conseal under a beanie cap.

He has a twin brother Paul Podsworth who lives in the front yard near the side walk. I hope the daily walkers and gaukers notice him.
What a surprise they will have! The unexpected! I love being silly sometimes.

This is Perry

Good night Moon..

OMG, Bea. You crack me up. I love that. With all your beautiful flowers, people may not be anticipating your silly side. Perry and Paul will totally make them stop and smile. I love it. What creativity.

Okay, so tell me the purple rose is intoxicatingly fragrant. It's exquisite.

So pretty! Love your poppy people! If only they had little clothes.....

Carole, apparently the kitty lives at your house now. Poor little kitty. Glad you are feeding it. Your own kitties will learn to love it.

I love the garden spiders. But I can do without the wolf spiders that come into my house looking for mates in the late summer/fall. I've tried telling them that there isn't anything for them in my house, but apparently I do not speak fluent 'spider' as they continue to come. The rose spiders, though, are beautiful. They are the most delicate shades of cream and pink, and deadly as heck to their prey. Sort of a nice dichotomy

I have a nice Baptisia australis that is purple. I do love the plant. It goes completely dormant every year.
