My ghostly white from last summer. This was out of the Sunrise Mixed.
In person, the texture was like crepe paper

Morning Glories 2008 #06
Wow, seconds from me. That one is a real nice white one. Karen
Jackie - Wow! Almost looks like an I. alba except for the leaves. Very pretty!!!!
Here is a new blooming vine for me. Not sure what it is. It has bright, large flowers. Anyone know what it is? I got the seeds from Derek and it was labeled JMG Comercial Super Colorful Mix. I need to grow out the other seeds from that baggie. I wonder if there are some other colors as well. This is really pretty in real life.
Added to say. This one looks like Fuji Hot Pink except the blooms are HUGE!

Thanks Joseph, Karen and Becky.
Becky, Gorgeous blooms. The Kohkan is really impressive.
Jackie - Thank you!
I only plant one seed of each cultivar at a time. That Kohkan vine is from ONE seed! It is covering the left side of the arbor beautifully! It is exactly what I was looking for in an MG! It has soooo many vines coming off the main roots that I am constantly winding new vines up the trellis which is becoming very think with foliage. I love it!! When I put in those new beds I amended the soil and it is now paying off BIG time! And I am sure the fertilizer doesn't hurt either! LOL!
Becky, I lost my Kohkan but have a few more sds to try. I've had some melt
down like A had. I have lost 15-20 new seedlings and I think it was the
Baccto light potting soil I used. I have at least 10 more looking like goners, so I"m going to repot in Fertilome potting mix today and try to save them.
In the meantime, I can enjoy your blooms. lol
Still not a single bloom here. :(
Jackie - {{{Hugs}}} I am so sorry that happened to you! :-( Do ya need anymore seeds? I can get some sent out to you tomorrow if you like.
That is the main reason I only grow one single seed of each cultivar. I've had my whole grow-out destroyed in the past and learned a disappointing lesson. The good thing about MGs though ... they grow really FAST!!! :-) Sorta like a bad haircut ... it will grow out eventually. LOL!
Thanks Becky, I'm fine on seeds. I've always held back seeds too so I can
re-plant if necessary. Looks like this is one of those times. If I can plant in
the next week or so, I have plenty of time for blooms and seed production.
My Drac is growing and Blue Asagao willow is finally growing too.
The anticipation is killing me I'm telling you. lol
This shot was taken this morning before the sun was shining on them. Looks like it should be a painting, doesn't it? I may just have to print this one out as an 8 X 10 glossy, frame it, and hang it on my wall. Looking at it seems to have a calming effect. This vine seems to be a gentle giant. The blooms are large. Thanks again, A, for sharing this Rabenda X P. Bush cross with me! It's a keeper!
This isn't a MG, but I have been patiently waiting 2 year to see a bloom. This is a rain lily (Zephyranthes something or other ...) I planted a bunch of bulbs under my large Oak tree in the garden bed. There is creeping Lavender Lantana in this bed with all these rain lily bulbs. I've been fertilizing the heck outta this bed to get these babies to bloom! Finally!!! Can you see all that pollen in that bloom. Whoo Hoo! I hope to get lots of seeds! :-) These are one day bloomers, too.
Becky, You did a great job growing out A's crosses. Love the 10-10
and the rain lily too. Thanx for sharing them with us.
Hi Becky,
I would also like to know about the Ensign plants. I planted some (in a hanging basket as you did) and not one single flower! Nothing.... the seeds germinated, grew a bit, and that was it! Not more than an inch high. Definitely not worth the trouble ....
Elsa
Jackie nice white bloom!! We'll get flowers soon won't we!!
Great blooms Becky!! Ditto on the ensign not worth growing, three seasons with no flowers and I give up!!! I recall one of Beth's photos had some beautiful blue blooms though last year, maybe it's not hopeless for you yet!
I thought my NOID Yaguruma was winding down on it's life cycle ... apparently I am mistaken as it threw out a nice flush of blooms again today! No pollen still but the bees are all over this vine every morning! LOL! I am no longer marking the blooms with what I am crossing them with. Just too many to keep track of. So for those of you who get seeds of this ... there is NO telling what you're gonna get! But I can guarantee the blooms will be beautiful and abundant!
The squirrels are using this trellis to climb in and out of my yard which is why the vine looks a little torn up. But it certainly hasn't stop this vine from growing and blooming. Such a champ!
The vines along my picket fence are just beautiful right now, but they are gonna be a nightmare when collecting seeds. I don't know why I thought I could keep them separated. I managed to do that last year in the rectangular containers, but they are growing so much more joyfully in the ground that ... I better get some straws QUICK!!! LOL!
Oh, Becky! Your MG are definitely something to feel very proud of. I thought I had great ones last year, but boy, they don't come close! Please keep me in mind should you have enough seeds to share.
Elsa
oh wow.. becky, you got some great looking flowers there. I wish I had planted more now.
mine are almost all the same and several lookalikes .. That kohkan is very impressive, it reminds me of those giant swirl lolipops that Shirley Temple used to have in her movie.. on the Goodship Lolipop... you are probably too young to remember that..
here is a Split Personality that reseeded in a pot..
Becky - I really like what your Kohkan is doing today!
A - be glad you can take pictures! The wind here has been bad for the last few weeks. It has been so long since I've been able to take a good picture. The vines I have on my front porch have been knocked over twice, and the canopy we had gotten for the backyard last month was finally knocked over by the wint!
I was suprised to see so many blooms this morning . . . took the best pic I could under the circumstances . . .
Thanks Ronnie and yes we will have our blooms. Trying to be patient here.
More gorgeous blooms Becky.
A, love both the Split Personality and Fuji No Monet. My Split Personality
never had such deep splits, yours is extra nice.
Very pretty blooms Nichole.
Elsa - We will definitely do a seed trade after this growing season!!! :-)
A - Love both vines/blooms you shared here! That Fuji no Monet is soooo pretty! I do remember Shirley Temple. I'm an oldie goldie! LOL!
Nichole - Lovely lavender blooms! Sorry to hear the wind is wrecking havoc on your flowers! We've had some wind here too. My yard is kinda buffered from heavy winds because of all the trees in the vacant lots around me. Plus I have the privacy fence which also helps. But the breeze I do get is much welcomed. It's been sooooo dang hot here. I can't believe it is just the beginning of June. I don't remember it being this hot so early. I am afraid of the temps in August and September. I am already wishing for winter again. LOL! This also means the Atlantic ocean will be warmer. Not good. Hurricanes thrive in warm water. I'm a little apprehensive about this hurricane season. After what I went through in 2004, it has left a lasting effect on my family. I don't want to go through that again ... ever!
Thanks Jackie! I can't wait to see what blooms for you this MG season. What are your temps currently? I used to say I never wanted to live in a colder zone, but I am starting to re-think that notion. LOL!
Becky, those Kohkan blooms are spectacular! I could go for a pink and white combo next year...hint, hint. LOL
Judith - If I get seeds from Kohkan, I will certainly share some with you and anyone else wanting some. I have to agree 100% with you ... the Kohkan vines are just perfect in every way! And the blooms are huge. I'm wondering if the blooms will continue to change possibly showing more of the cross. Don't ya just love what open pollination can do! :-)
Becky, it's hitting around 89-93 here now. But May was strange, the first half was cool, in the 70's. The last half we had a few 80's but now has jumped to the 90's . It's almost like we skipped the 80's entirely.
I wonder if Beth got the nice Ensign blooms because of her cooler Oregon temps
and she grew a Convolvulacea shrub that bloomed really well for her.
You wouldn't like it here in the winter. Day after day of temps in the 30's. .LOL
Jackie - Oh my! I can't believe that you are already getting those hot temps too! This Global Warming situation isn't one bit funny is it? I need to fertilize my MGs again. Probably this weekend. I am hoping that the fertilizer will eventually get those Ensigns to bloom. Right now cold weather sounds good to me! LOL! I know I wouldn't like snow all the time and 30's, but I had no winter really to speak of here in 10a zone this past year, so I am definitely ready for some colder temps. LOL! Here it is just the beginning of summer. And I am already looking forward to winter. What's wrong with this picture??? LOL!
Becky, I froze all winter so I'm ready for some warm temps. I don't think I
could handle your summertime temps.
You guys need to be here!! Average temps for NC in June are in the mid 80's. Today it was 102. All my jmg have been moved to the shade. They still look like wet noodles. I just hope that they can withstand this heat.
