Oh, Sharon!
Your dark red Daylilies are the same ones I dug up and shared and re-planted in my Garden from my neighbor's house last fall--knowing that they might have gone to waste!
They must be an OLD variety--if your Grandmother had them!
Mine are growing tall and strong. No blooms yet--but will post any day now. I planted them in 4 different places.....
There is one clump left that i did not dig up. Didn't want to seem "piggy".....I told the new people to leave it alone! it is beautiful!
Gita
This is a picture of them from last year.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #46 visit with friends...
bev, nice meeting you, I too come from a long line of boggled minds....and though my family is famous for them, I'm King of the Boggles if you don't mind me saying.....:)
Betty, thanks for the nice welcome, Yes you are a chatty bunch, but I still think I might teach you a trick or two about being chatty......:) But you'll need no lessons from me about being a caring bunch or having each others interest at heart from what I've read and heard so far I reckon you got that covered.....
lizrainey.....Been less than a day and loving it already, and thanks for the welcome.....
abbisgranma.....nice meeting you also...and you're right cancer is a life changer for sure.....I had some bad with it and remarkably gotten some good out of it too, if that makes sense, I know you know what I mean....
ves522...I'm happy you like'em so much, thanks for telling me.....and I feel I can always write my little stories about some of the goofy things I do, cause it seems to be a never ending supply of goofy things I do......mighty convenient that......:)
rubyw...your Emily is a 'real gift' too.....
Gee Sharran, would it hurt you for ONCE to say something nice about me.......:)
I reckon Sharran I need adoption and to be kept on the straight and narrow, and it looks like you're right, I came to the right place...I might have a chance of getting away with something with ya'll, Linda is wise to all my tricks now.....:)
Gitagal.....thanks I appreciate that.....
I need to finish one thing on my wife's 'Honey Do' list.....see you folks later on.......
Paul from Alabama
Evening everyone! Simple trip into town turned into a total day of "running" around in this horrible heat. DD was with me, complained of not being able to see with new contacts--back to Doc's office--given her the wrong 'cript. Bad enough she is adjusting to bifocals but wrong ones? To much!
Dental was a breeze! Then to Walmart for some necessary things for humans and animals. Almost home, realized didn't have enough bags--yeap they had forgotten to put them in the cart--sitting on floor behind bag roll around.
Betty, glad you came through the procedure okay and Gitagirl is absolutely right. Should be checked out! DLH has some removed and they turned out to be nothing. Good sleeping tonight I bet, it took for ever for me to get over the meds. Were the KK's good? Bet they were.
Oh my ! love all the flowers posted. I am working on getting some but with the amount of shade in my yard it is a real challange. Making progress tho.
Sharran, my sentiments exactly on garage sales. Like going but not doing them. I just don't like people wandering all around my yard and house!!! Good luck anyways. Will be looking for your stories.
Oh my what a beautiful granddaughter. Such nice pictures! Tried to get some of my youngest 3rd birthday but she is at the age all she wants to do is clown around! Has it down to an art form!!!!
Paul, what part of the state is Piedmont? So are you having the hot, humid weather that seems to hanging over us?
Sorry, if I missed anyone. Get you next post!
abbisgranma.....I'm conveniently located in that part of the state between Hxxl and Hades or it was yesterday and today, Lord have mercy it was tad warm.....but I live betwixt and between Anniston and Gadsden....in the north/central/eastern part of the state......about 15 miles from the Georgia line like you were going to Atlanta, but I ain't never going to Hotlanta again, so I don't care where the highway goes to.......:)
Paul from Alabama
Can relate to the Hotlantic thing! Ouch. Go up 3 times a year with my DD who is on the Ga. Board of Foreign Language Teachers--vacation for me--work for her. The heat the last time--not to even mention traffic--was just way to much for this lady.
Hot enough here and traffic a plenty.
Hey all!!! I am back. We didn't go camping. Went to Carlinville to have Scotty's hearing checked because he wears two aids and has just had one for a while now and I got tired of us screaming at each other all the time and tired of hearing the tv across the street. Had to come in here to my puter to get away from the noise. Well the trip ended up costing $2300.00 but at least he will be able to hear in about two weeks, but I have to watch what I say about him when I come back to my puter from then on!!!!!! Stoped and got us a sandwich and loaded up the lawn mower and went to the camper to mow. I got so hot and tired I couldn't finish so we came home for me to recoup. Vess I did get your pics of the hostas under the drip line of the leantoo out there. Will put them on the puter and post them later. Hi Ruby,& Sharen & Paul & all the rest. Rest that sounds good what is that? I will be back in a little bit.
Yeah Betty, peace of mind.
Pollips can turn into something but most of the time are benign and they just remove them. That means you will probably see the specialist who is a surgeon or he will tell you nothing and order more tests. More waiting.
You guys sure have spring when you have spring. I still have limited blooms here and there. My first day lily just bloomed and my cannas are just growing, spreading petunias are so pretty, hollyhocks in only three similar families of color, some roses are reblooming and a lot of wildflowers but not all lush like you guys' gardens. ho hum.
Family just left, came and did a 'check' before I'm off to bed... enjoyed lazying around..not concerned with polyps, and the nurse did say I'd end up needed to do this more frequently..just not sure any of the results will come up with why I can go from size 12/14 to a size 24 within 5 minutes of eating..THAT I'm more interested in finding out why, unless he comes up with a finding when I go back to visit him, can't see that the polyps is the answer to the problem...
But then, I'm not a doctor right?
They were all extrememly kind..
Was a little upsetting though, the room in which my DH was in when he fell in was across the hall, brought back memories of walking those halls..no longer is it for terminal patients, it's for in-out patients..
But other than that, I'll be heading to the city as normal, ready to take on another day...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...Betty!
Intestinal blockage comes to mind..................Don't take any of this lightly!
I am NO Dr. either.....just a guess......Hope I am wrong!
Gita
nice lattice Bev
hey heavenscape!! got the fabric and its lovely!! thankyou... and so is the little gift you poppedc in, thankyu so much, dont worry, all the fabric is going into the quilt no matter what....
wave to you all!
Morning everyone, dull day but promised to get sunny...waiting for Suzanne to call, think today I am to drive myself to the city, should have called her last night..will give her a 1/2 hr. and then leave...
As I cancelled my painting class last Wedn. to last night, the with the error in which day I was to get my test had to call them and cancel last night, who knows if they'll show up tonight..lol..we nice if they didn't, would give me another evening to put my feet up..a person could get used to that...
Pretty Bev, you've quite a lot of land to contend with (another word for designing planting and enjoying) lol..
Well off I go, talk when I get to work...
Back out to the camper this morning to finish up the mowing. Got my first tick embeded in my belly this morning. Last year I had 35 of those little suckers. The chiggers oh my and the mosquitoes are going to be bad. They all just love me. Yuck!!!! I spend three months just itching and scratching. I put all kinds of stuff on me but they ignore it, Any one else a magnet for these critters? Well we have had two days without the rain but will be here again tomorrow night so here we go again or I should say still. I am not going to complain too loud because there are a lot of people in worse shape. Praying for them every day!! Well I am gone will check back in later. All have a nice day. HUGS BEV
Bev thanks for the pictures. It's got me thinking now. I know some hostas get really big and those I don't want. I can see those mini ones over there and some slightly larger with rocks and flowers mixed in. A couple of shrubs on the north side on the east end of the arborvitae. I have a primrose lilac I can put there plus a white one.Kind of a hidden garden area. I forgot to talk to DH about it. You watch those skeeters. I got lymes a few years back and it took along time to get over it.
Last night even tho DH and I had sprayed they were coming after us. Not fun. Had a good hour of daylight left.
Good Morning,
Betty, was very glad to see you had a ride and family came to check up on you. You have made a brave start! The worst always seems to be the start. No one like medical tests. So now, make your second step and call the specialist.
Lets pray they are just pollips that are annoying and can be treated. Hope you are feeling ok today.
Yippee last day of school for the my big/lil guy.
Girls have been out.
My Sabrina is 15 this beautiful day.
Shar, I love the idea of your AK journal to Aunt Bett. I think she will indeed enjoy being with you every step of the way.
Well I have got to run, (different hours) so will post as soon as I can.
well, the fabric is slowly arriving.... got a dmail that more is on the way.
im really looking forward to making what i call the 'friendship quilt'. something to hug on the hard days so if your sending your piece of fabric to be included, make sure you send hugs and kisses with it!
i think i forgot to tell you that my SP also sent me a netting butterlfy and its wings are painted in the peacock design! gorgous! I love the butterfly that came and its body was made of gold bells... it tinkles!! gorgous!
pulled some muscles in my back and its been giving me heck! (is that a bad word over there?) hope not... hubby massaing at night which helps and i have a wheat pack.
hey paul, in case u missed it, i am into quilting at them moment and cant wait to show you all what i have done so far. its my first one.
being that i am so far away from you all, and i really miss it at times, i thought maybe i could ask all those who would like to, to send some fabric to include in the friendship quuilt, then i could cuddle it when i need a hug.. selfish a little but the girls were keen to be involved and i am so grateful.... and excited about it. so if you want to, yuo can be involved too, after all, your one of the gang now. we have been looking into pinks and lemons... we have some with pale colours and a lovely one of birds and a garden... i thnk i might do a block if i can of each one that comes or something like that, i will have to think about it some more. so , if you want to, your welcome.
im so happy to be a part of this family... i am slowly getting to know you all, believe me , i read all your posts. though some may not know me too well, i do come out of my highdie hole from time to time... coming out of a rough time but doing ok... i have you guys! so keep on chatting, sharing your lives, gardens, ups and downs.. we are all here for each other..... helps us to stay grounded...
hugs across the water!
xx

Liz none of the real bad weather is hitting us. It is all further south. Just getting a bit too much rain. Which I would send to who needs it if I could! Have a good day at work!
Good morning everyone. I skimmed the posts as it'll take too long to get caught up. Hi Paul and welcome. Betty, I had polyps and they never caused me to swell up like that. Then again there may be different kinds. Hope they figure out what's going on.
Have a super day everyone.
Didn't have to drive myself in this morning so that's a plus..
Judy, sending Sabrina a birthday wish via your d-mail, think it's Herbie's birthday as well..must send him one as well...are you back to yourself now that gums are healed? Takes some time..remember my first set of dentures at about 22 yrs. of age (lost teeth due to illness) they pulled them out and right in the new ones went..not sure I'd recommend that though, quite painfull, on my 3rd. set (not bad for almost 40 years) never had problems so hopefully you won't either, you just have to persevere at the beginning...so funny, just after they gave me meds to sleep yesterday and the doctor walked in, asked me how I was feeling, know I said they 'stole my teeth' HATE it when you have to go toothless...lol now that's a sight...making humour here.....
Liz, wish I was at the Chicago airport watching you and Judy officially meet for the first time...but, won't get there till Thursday morning, so get your mischief done before I get there to keep you in line...what kind of things are going to the garage sale??? not all those antiques you keep within your kitchen/living room etc. - is it just what you have stored in the garage? can't see you could store much in there because of all the halloween decorations...
Gita, will certainly google 'polyps' however I'm not very confident that finding these have anything to do with my daily 'add water and grow 10 sizes' lol...but will do as I'm told...not to worry..feel sorry for all your 'pretties' that heat can play hell with them..for a few years we've had water bands on, so you would walk up and down the street and see all the gardens near death and yet one yard beautifully green..wonder if it had anything to do with midnight watering...
Cat, what have you been doing of late to keep you out of mischief?
Paul, going over to read your blog..need my 'smile' of the day! it's now a must...so glad you are taking a seat in this comfy room filled with friends...
Laura, sorry to hear about the back..nice to have DH to give massages..lucky you..no baby yet? Bet you are getting nervous..think sometimes it's harder on the grandma's then the mom's...because we know the responsibility that comes with raising a child..sooo you've decided which pattern you will do your friendship quilt in..and all by hand? know you did the teddies by hand and the blocks but the entire quilt? your poor fingers will certainly be tender..
OMG Bev, having ticks can be deadly...a few years ago Greg was quite ill, went to the doctor's and they cut out a piece of flesh to send for a biopsy and lordy, as Dr. was talking to Greg he went to get the miniscule piece to send away and it was moving..tick, had to book him in and take quite a chunk as they can breed within..doctor said he could have been paralyzed...so, maybe you should go get it cut out if it's within the flesh..a day at the trailer...wish I was there with you...
Aren't I terrible, we only work 1/2 day on Fridays so will try to book my appt. witht he specialist for the 27th. that way I can make a long/long weekend out of it...our Canada Day is July 1st. it's a must to have it on that particular day, so I'd get Fri/Sat/Sun work Mon. off Tues. - many of us are asking for the Mon. as a 'holiday day' but that would mean no staff, of course I could work it as I'll be leaving on the Wedn. to go to visit with Judy and Liz...we'll see...
Just lurking here and wanted to post a comment. Betty, I swell up also and it's usually after I've eaten carbs for some reason. I started noticing that after I had been on the Atkins diet for 3 months. I only lost 5 lbs total but I went down 2 pant's sizes. Then I started eating bread and white potatoes again and my waists on my pants would get too tight, especially after eating out. I think it might be an allergic reaction of some kind, maybe to wheat? I admit I haven't read all the posts but have you been tested for allergies?
Terri
Hey Betty. Been meeting myself coming and going, as usual. I'm gonna slow down one of these days, really I am! Just seems that work is crazy anymore. Had company all last week. And more came in last night! No rest for the weary! :-)
BUT, who says I'm staying out of mischief?? LOL
bev, im with you on the wheat thing! i swell to narrowed it down to that...
betty, lots of in between collectables something from every room! i finally got sick and tired of never finding anything so out it go's decided to have it in two days so i can watch and monitor things better, ok will try to mis behave before thursday...
With your collectable and my loving 'country' look I'd be in trouble if I could make your garage sale..I'd have to tell you just to pack it in the back seat of my behicle and take it all (maybe a truck) so thank goodness I'm not close...lol..
Just called the specialist office, soonest I could get in (taking into account time for results to get back would be the Thurs. I'd be leaving for Judy's and that won't happen, so booked it for July 16th..results I'm sure can wait 1 more week...
Actually the allergy idea may be something to explore. Normally polyps don't cause you to explode. LOL I to have been that route and all mine came back negative. Not my favorite test, but the drugs are great! And my dr is a hottie, I'm old, not dead!
I have an appt for a heart stress test next week, my feet were swelling like crazy and I ended up on crutches because my balance was so lousy. Gaining weight in spite of being very careful what I eat, so here we go. I'm still not feeling good and he's still leaning toward fibromialgia (which means he ain't got a clue) did put on lyrica and that does help manage the pain. Sheesh, I hate talking about my med problems.........It's ticking me off since it's affecting my ability to play in my garden among other things.......but I just putter along. I still have a bunch of perennials to get in, but DH hasn't finished the new bed, so hopefully this weekend we can get them in. We've had this really intense heat and then nasty thunderstorms in the evenings. Wish the good Lord would save some of those for July and August. :)
Well, got to go take a dog to the vet, I'll catch ya'll later.
WonderDownUnder, that quilt sounds like a fine idea....I've heard my wife's mother talk about them before......friendship quilts.....
Liz, yes I did finish the list from yesterday......at the present moment, I'm scared to look at the list for today......:)
Howdy cat, nice to meet you......
Betty, taking a seat with you folks for a bit....been cutting in half my Ryan's Pink chrysanthemums and my Georgia asters so the ain't so leggy this fall....watered my containers, my roses, my bird baths, my astilbes (lord them things need water everyday in this weather) and now I'm ready to sit......:)
Oh Doc, sorry to hear you are not at your best..think they do give prognosis as fibromialgia when they have no idea as to what is causing the pain..same here, it's not what I eat that is putting on the weight I'm sure, but being un-active Monday thru Friday..weekends I never stop..going to have to remind Greg (DS) that I want my bike tire repaired so I can bike the trails on the weekends and a few evenings...
weather is playing havoc with everyone..although it's quite waarm out, is gloomy, rain perhaps here in the city..ouch..dog at the vet's, that can be costly..
Sounds as though Paul you have your gardens well tended..astilbe..I have an Aunt who has them next to her house..for the past few years she's had me over to dig them up as they are about 4' wide and 5' tall..have done so, brought them home and divided them, following year, hers is back to same size, did it again, must go for a visit shortly as she says it must be taken out..they are red and some white..amazing, I've planted them in the shade and they've done well, in sun/shade and they've also done well..even have a few in direct sun and they are thriving so it seems you just can't kill them....now watch me go home and they are wilting..lol
Liz, That is an Eastern Bluebird. They built and then the sparrows scared them away so I tore out the nest and they came back but I didn't see them when I mowed out there this morning. WOW!!! glad that is done. I just can't hardly take that sun and the pushing anymore. Can't find anyone to do it for me for less than a mint. Hey 53 I am 62 and how are you? Glad to see you over here. You all take care. I never have time to talk to everyone, Shame on me I know. Gotta get out and put slug stuff arround my 300 or so hostas this evening. Wonder, What kind of material was that? Well my mind went blank!!! Just got some plants from a DG er and need to get them in too. Two of them are hostas!! Talk later love & hugs BEV
Terri, welcome, saw the post and thought it was Bev...pay attention Betty! lol ..nope they haven't tested me for allergies, just started with the most obvious I guess...2 pant sizes and only -5 lbs. - got to do something with only being 5' (lying, don't quite make the 5') any excess weight really plays havoc with the back...going to get into an excercise regime..might even get back to line dancing..both enjoyment and excersize in 1..taught it for years and don't know if I can remember the steps, worth a try..
Wow!, Y'all have been busy!
Betty, glad everything went ok - sorry you had to endure the needle pricking! I give the techs ONE chance to poke me and they better get right! I had a polyp the first time I had my procedure. I actually didn't know I had had one till the lab called to say it was benign. Second time, no polyps, just diverticulosus (not diverticulitis yet). So I'm just supposed to eat lots of "ruffage".
Paul, welcome to the group!
The heat has FINALLY broken! We made the CNN top 5 temps on Sunday by hitting 101! We had a cold front come thru last night and although there was lightning everywhere, not a drop of rain on us (I didn't even hear any thunder!). It's in the high 80's today but lowere humidity so it's nice!
DS "graduates" from 5th grade tomorrow so I have to go out and get him a dress shirt and tie. I really want to rebell and let him wear shorts, a tee shirt and a Spiderman tie! I will be SO glad when he leaves this elementary school. The principal leaves a lot to be desired!
Well, I came home from school last night and I have committed to losing 20 lbs before our vacation at the end of August. I am not a diet person so this is not going to be easy. I'm just going to watch my calories and walk 2 miles a day. My DH has lost 55 lbs since Jan and looks great! But it's easy for guys! He also has the willpower once he's in the "zone". Anyway, I'm writing down everything I'm eating so I can track it so we'll see!
OH! Good news! We FINALLY got our bed yesterday!!!!! Of course I had completely forgotten what it looked like so I was surprised! I'll try to remember to take a picture tonight and post it! I am so glad to close that chapter!!
Well, off to the cafeteria for lunch (probably a salad). I'll chat later!
J
lol wow that took what, almost 1 year..at least you managed to get it..did they not start bankruptcy process? 55 lbs. how wonderful..maybe we should challenge each other here on the thread, well NOT challenge let's say support each other.. I remember once going on the cabbage soup diet and Roger lost about 30 lbs. so quickly and I was lucky if I lost 2 or 3 and was so dedicated to it...should get that recipe out and try it again..must do something..wouldn't mind losing 30 lbs. before meeting Liz and Judy...am so laughing, that's in 3 weeks, actually 3 weeks today I'll be setting out after work..perhaps the boss will feel sorry for me driving in the evening and let me leave at lunch hour..hint/hint, Jeannine, what type of diet is DH on? or is he just cutting back.. know when Paul (BOSS) was on weight watchers he lost quite a bit, noticed he's back out eating at restaurants...but then so am I..better start cooking I'd say..
Nothing worse than not having faith in the school your children are going to...now your elementary school goes to grade 8 does it not? Have you scheduled your holidays Jeannine, renting a place as you did last year??? I get holidays I believe in August, might head to your side of the coast...if I get ambitious..lol
Question... when taking on tasks do you promise yourself a 'treat' if you accomplish it within said time???
Nope, no treats for me. I think that's one of my problems. I'm not a goal-setting kind of person! ;-)
DH is just staying around 1400 calories a day and he tries to walk around our block twice each day which is 2 miles total. We think he has that addiction chemical in him that literally makes him addicted to food. He says he feels like an alcoholic when he's not in "his zone". Me on the other hand: I don't over eat, I just don't eat the right stuff PLUS my dang thyroid stopped working after DS was born! Having the thyroid prob makes it difficult to lose weight. Luckily, I don't gain it unless I really pig out. I am also a firm believer that you shouldn't deprive yourself of something you want. Just eat in moderation (except after a colonoscopy when 1 dz Krispy Kreme is a must!). What I really need is someone here to cook me healthy meals and I'll eat them. I hate trying to create stuff that is not only healthy but that the kids will like. I really feel guilty with them cause our eating habits are not good and it shows in them. I don't want what I'm doing to be a "diet". I want this to be what is right and healthy for all of us. I've done good today. Can I just tell you how much I HATE fat free Raspberry vinaigrette??? YUCK! I'm a bleu cheese kinda girl!
Not fond of rasberry vinigrette either..yuk..thyroid makes you all unbalanced weight wise doesn't it? lordy, I've been sneezing to beat the devil all morning, head is congested, surely I didn't catch something at the hospital I hope..haven't had a cold ALL winter, would hate to get one now...
Gardengirl, I am hypothyroid too and have a hard time losing weight. I am out almost every day in the garden, digging or carrying heavy stuff and have not lost anything except for the 5 lbs of water I sweated out - I am 2 hours southwest of you and we got the over 100 temps this past week too!
It was so hot, I didn't even eat much, just a yogurt for breakfast, lots of unsweet tea, cucumber salad (only veggies in the house til I go shopping) and one or two hotdogs at night. I still weigh the same!
With your thyroid problem, do you find that meds take a long time to leave your system? I can take an Advil before I go to bed and not have any pain until the next afternoon. That's the only advantage to being hypo, for me, LOL!
Hi 62 and everyone, nice to meet y'all!
Terri, will have to add you to my 'office' map, lordy if I ever travel Virginia I'll have a few 'tea' stops..lol...
Just on msn...got the following from my girlfriend Elizabeth..just goes to show you that we must live each and every day to the fullest..one never knows what tomorrow will bring:
Liz says:
Hi there I got very bad news today, Janet has got cancer
bpauze@rogers.com (E-mail address not verified) says:
Oh no, where does she have it, my goodness she's young isn't she..
Liz says:
I was going to try and call you later it is a terrible shock
bpauze@rogers.com (E-mail address not verified) says:
I bet it is, can she have chemo
Liz says:
she is in her 40s it is in her lungs and stomach, they have given her 9 months with treatment.. I only heard a couple of hours ago I am very upset they want to be left alone to work things out but it must be terrible for them I wish I could help but only they can do that at the moment
Liz says:
he said with Chemo it would be about nine months, it is so bad..young family and all..
