Both of these were bought at Wal-Mart and or Home depot and potted up and put on a heat mat under lights. This picture was taken last week.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 21
Looks good, Celeste! I think there is a heat mat co-op going on now, for anyone interested.
I looked at the co-op but they are higher priced than I paid for mine.
That's nice Pixie! You got a big head-start... really big! ☺
Well it was beautiful today 82 degrees, had some crazy wind gusts that had everyone holding down their plates of food. Stuffed ourselves, everything was pre cooked so all we had to do today were burgers and hot dogs if anyone wanted them.
Great day.
I planted caladiums from Lowes April2, and cannas from Brent &Bks a week later, it took 6 weeks to see caladiums and cannas ,put all outside May18th.
Do you mean to say I could have planted them in the ground May18 and had leaves by June?
I'ts been really cold here until two days ago.
Here is a canna I'm waiting for Rosydwm coleus should come today, fill ins.
Caladium want heat and rot very easily in cold soil so you're safer waiting for warmer weather,
68 and muggy. Rain in the forecast. Showers on and off in the AM and t-storms in the late afternoon and evening.
Low 70s here and feels even warmer than that due to the humidity. The sun is shining brightly and whatever rain we received was barely a trace. Maybe we'll get something this afternoon, but the radar looks clear, so far.
60's here, we got rain but the ground was dry under the trees so I am watering. Too many new plants not to give them what they need.
I was up at 6 Am so that I could water the gardens. Who cares if there are T-storms predicted for later in the day? With the way our luck runs, we won't get a drop of moisture, so it's safer to bet on the hose rather than the weather forecaster.
I had everything watered by 8 AM so that I could see little Taélar off to school on her bus. That was fun, as we don't get to do too much together in the morning. But, I still have one garden to go though, as I ran out of time to water before Little Miss "M" woke up and wanted her breakfast.
Did anyone else in my area lose power yesterday? We lost power for about four hours, but we kept on planting anyway. Not that we use power tools to plant. It would have been nice to use the watering hose, though, ya know?
This morning is beautiful and warm. It's 73° with a thin, high overcast. The winds have finally calmed down to a more manageable 8 MPH, and the wind direction is South-westerly. The humidity is getting higher at 61% with the dewpoint at 59°. So far, the barometric pressure is at 29.75 in. and steady, but I'm betting that will change as the storms that have been predicted for later this afternoon approach.
Happy gardening everyone!
New garden underneath the kitchen window
My garden is sad today!!!! I am not there!!!!
It's a very nice quiet day here. The ground is wet but we haven't had any showers since I woke up at 6 AM. I am looking forward to thunderstorms this afternoon - anything but sunshine. I can use the rest after yesterday's party for Jack. It was a happy day but a long one.
Hope he had a great day!
Cool and damp here,at least no rain.
Waiting for a package in the mail at 3, planting my Rosydawn coleus
He did. He went golfing with my son and my daughter made a big pot of chocolate fondue for his birthday dessert. We all had a great day, great barbecue and loads of fun. The best part (for me) was that they all wanted every one of my leftover plants! Happy ending!
The temp has not reached 55*
I have turned the heat on AGAIN.
80 here and the t-storms are about to hit!
The sun just came out.
Tomorrow should be warmer
Calling for a high of 64* and then 70's rest of the week.

Downpour!!!
same here - building an arc!
Load the JM's first - then the women and children!
it is not kansas now - sun is out.
Same here - after an incredible deluge, the sun came out. Now it's clouding up again. They started my patio today so now my back is all mud!!
Ther's a joke there somewhere.
Is a "muddy back "anything like a "razorback"?
I should ask the patio guy about a 'muddyback' guarantee...
Rain starting again!
We had sunshine until 4:15 but never did get any downpour. It rained a short time and the sun is out again.
We haven't gotten the promised rain yet - sprinkles overnight, not even registering in the rain gage, cool today.
Heading toward Pirl now, according to the radar.
What an unsettled day! We had a high of 82 with lots of humidity. It grew dark with thunder and we had a few short showers, but nothing to help with the dryness. Now I see it's supposed to get down into the 40s tonight and won't be above the high 60s tomorrow with lows in the 30s(!) tomorrow night. Time to bring in the few plants I dared to put outside.
We had 2 whopper storms----branches down, parking lots flooded, debris in the roads. I was at art class, & have to travel narrow roads with tall trees--but it rained when we got there, & rained just before we left. All I saw was the damage. Hope my veggie seeds did not wash away! The air is cooler now & tomorrow will be a great weeding day---sorry about your muddy mess, Victor---doesn't the rain always come at inopportune times? Spent yesterday at the blueberry farm----my son's FIL still doesn't know what he is doing with the thousands of bushes----blueberry pie, anyone?
Thanks, Robin. Blueberries ripe already?!!
I was looking at blueberry bushes at the nursery with lots of green berries, I still want dwarf blueberries.
The berries or the bush?
The bush, the ones at the nursery were 4-6 ft tall, but I think I read about some that were only 3 ft?
Low bush types are small.
