My boys are coming in tonight. Ethan just told me that if his daddy doesn't bring him NOW, he is going to drive himself to NANA's. (those 2 words were pretty loud.)

So...you folks have a good next few days, I might be pretty scarce, but enjoying my little guy and his Dad. Take care and hugs.

Laura, how cold does it get? No snow right? Anxious to hear that the delivery went well.. will look forward to seeing a peak preview of the quilt..bet you are getting so much satisfaction out of sewing..I'm not that fond of hand sewing, don't mind the quilting, but not the block hand sewing...no patience...

Guess it's a work day for you? Feeling better - over the flu?

So cute Shar..drive himself..that shows he's been missing his grandmother...do enjoy! Photo's please..

Good eveining everyone. Was having a wonderful, relaxing day working in the yard and making real progress. Then a sheriff's car pulled in the driveway. Seems they had found a women on the highway in extremely bad condition (beaten is all I know) and they had tracked the person responsible into our area. We were told to go inside, stay in and keep our doors locked. You can hear the bloodhounds and helicopters flying around the lake area and our cul de sac has a state tooper and country sheriff parked here walking around the area. Not a good feeling. Sure hope they get the person responsible.

Where do you get all your energy Betty? I get exhausted just reading all the neat things you do and love the pictures.

How exciting, Down Under, a new baby! I have gotten you a piece of fabric and will send soon. No mailings here until Tuesday. Hope it will go with your friendship quilt.

Good for your grandson Sharran!!! They know the special people in their lives. LOL

Dragon Fly and Cat hope the weather doesn't get really bad. It seems this year there has been more than the usual number of tornados in the mid section.

Gotta go see what is happening, 'copter is buzzing really low over our houses and noise is getting louder from the dogs!!! I had planned to finish my work, clean up and sit on the dock with a large glass of iced tea and relax--not tonight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG, must be giving you a fright..stay indoors for sure!
Must be serious to have helicopters included in the search as well...do hope the lady is ok..will say a prayer!

Outdoor work can wait!!!

Well it's that time of night, I'm not as lucky as you all are and have tomorrow off, don't know why, Jaye said I was an honorary USA citizen, perhaps she should have called my boss to tell him...seeing as she hasn't I'm off to bed..pleased with my accomplishments this weekend...

Best of today...just enjoyed puddling around the yard...
Worse of today..decided to eat..now I feel yukky again..
What did I learn..ponds must have plants to keep them clean! or at least I think they do...

Night everyone, do hope you are enjoying your long weekend...

Hi guys, lost ya for a while. I have been busy lately so have not posted much. Nothing much to say except that I am going up the coast to San Simeon to Hearst Castle on Tues.-Thurs we will be gone for our anniversary.

I miss the closeness I had w/ all of you, I have now become out of the loop.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

you are never out of the loop, Dawn!!!! Never! we miss you when you are gone.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi all!

Sharon, the batiks quilts are AWESOME!!!! Thank you for sharing the link!

Yes, I have been busy! I stayed at work friday till 5:30 to get stuff done so I wouldn't have to come in this weekend. One of the guys I go to school with works at a landscaping/nursery over on the southside. I was given a $100 gift cert. to there from my team at work for admin week so I decided to go down and see what he had. I was in the market for a Japanese Maple - Acer palmatum dissectum "Orangeola". It a very lacey leaf maple that has slightly red leaves - bright, bright red in fall. Anyway, my friend got me a grat deal on it so I had enough left over to buy 2 geraniums,1 impatiens, a red coneflower plant, a hummingbird ming plant and a varigated sweet potato plant. Their prices were very cheap!!! I am so glad I don't live near it cause I'd be there every day! So with my new tree, I decided to clean out my front flower bed to make room for it. Have you ever started diggin in your garden and planned to "just take a few plants" and then before you notice, everything is gone? Well, that was me today! The part of the bed I cleaned was left over from the previous owner and had daylilies (orange and yellow) which I can't stand. I also had a ton of Spiderwart which reproduces like rabbits. So I decided to dig them up. Well, the yarrow and the old coneflowers were also in the way so all of it went! (heck, I can just buy new stuff to fill it all!!) Since planting this bed, my river birches have grown and it is very shady now so a lot of the stuff I had were for sun. Anyway, I now have it all cleaned out and I just need to go buy some organic soil to add and mulch and I can plant the tree! I'll take a pic once I get it all done!

We're off tomorrow so we are surprising the kids and taking them up to Scottsville (in the mountains) canoeing. They don't know what we're doing and it's driving them CRAZY! In turn, they are driving us CRAZY!!! Ruby, I'll wave as we go by!!

I did take a picture while out in the front yard this afternoon. There is a momma robin who is trying to raise FOUR babies in one small nest. I am so afraid they will end up fall out as they grow. I know it's all life but I hate seeing any baby birds die! So here's a picture of the cramped birdy quarters.

Oh how sweet, GG. I worry about baby birds, too.
Have fun tomorrow and be safe.

I have a huge red JM in my back corner, it is beautiful and about as tall as my house. I have a low growing mint green one, forgot it's name...in a curved bed in the front. I love JM. You surely got a nice gift, and know you deserved it.

You all rest well tonight.
Hugs.

Well we have been real busy for last couple of days. It's all cool..ohwah...I am hearing thunder bif=g time!

Julia graduated from Off campus with high marks, lots of certificates. I have got to say...again how very proud I am.
Here was my girl, barely wanting to get up in the morning, She pulled all of her resourses with a wonderful group of people on her side.
My Girl! Pulled everything she had to get through eith flying colors!! I might add. Sometimes, life makes you wonder how you will survive or just get through aday. Seeing, first hand all the up,downs and all arounds through the eyes of my child...is certainly my best!

Worst, Not really anything I can think of at the moment.

Learned: Really missed you all. Was wonderfulll to come and get cought up. So much to read and beautifull photos.

Gita, thanks for the photo's..look at that spread..can tell I'm HUNGRY!!!
I especially love the cake!!! Now how many of these beauties (plants) did you go home with?

Wish we had a round-up near us..we are so widespread that they'd have to drive hundreds/hundreds of miles..maybe one day...

Started my morning with a bang, two bangs actually...was thundering like crazy, poor Sailor was having a fit..wouldn't leave my side, then when making a coffee another bang, dropped the milk container..milk throughout the refrigerator..days got to get better after that..called Paul to say I'd be riding with him today, left mess. on his cel. but he'd forgotten so I drove in myself..stopped for gas about 1/2 hr from home only to find out I forgot my wallet..no drivers licence/no money, thank goodness for the $20.00 I always hide in the ashtray for moments such as this..so,I've an envelop in the safe here that I always put $50.00 in most weeks so that when I have something special it's treat money..guess having no money for lunch is a bit more than a 'treat' right...so that's all before 9am..let's hope the rest of the day improves..lol

Dawn, honey you are always 'in the loop' you disappear from time to time, but I always know the threads you are on so I can make sure all is well in your world..usually I d-mail you the new thread, must have forgotten to do so this time...

Laura, spoke to my girlfriend from Ireland last night and they had a 'long weekend' as well..was it a long weekend for you as well...looks as though you've the quilting 'bug'...how are those grandchildren doing, we've not seen photo's for some time, find that camera and share please...

Shar, are the boys there visiting with you today? Bet Ethan has grown inches since you've last posted his photo..

Abbisgramma - ????what's happening, did they finally arrest the culprit..are you still housebound..hope not, with it being long weekend and all, wouldn't you hate not being able to spend the day outside???

Judy, hope you are resting today, you've had quite a few weeks of it..was she surprised to get her special award? You will find life pretty dull now that graduation is over with..is sister still with you celebrating this long weekend? You are at the cottage right?

Liz, I sure hope that you are out putting lighthouse pots together...lol...

Jeannine,OMG look at those lovely birdies..how lucky you are to see them up close...hope you are enjoying your canoeing today and that you've great weather...was at Bernice and Cliff's on Saturday and all you hear and see are birds, yet I live across the street and try to encourage them to visit (birdies that is) but not much luck..squirrels are always in the feeders and guess with cats they know better...

Had to move the beautiful 3 piece hummingbird feeder yesterday as I noticed that a bit of the juice was dropping from time to time and ants were gathering..not good...so I'll miss it's beauty close up..

Hi everyone,
Oh mu gosh, Betty you are right i have been super busy...Will be through this weekend next weekend then i think I can relax for rest of summer!! And just play in the gardens, woopie, yahooie!

Ok so i am going to go a little bit backwards here. My sister and DH left in a big hurry, had a major fight so that was bummer, they straightened everything ouut now so thats good. Anyway Julia was indeed surprised. The Seniors had to write a paper on why they deserved this scholarship and give 2 dollars for grade transcript. Well she did not have the 2 bucks so just handed in the paper. The teachers all voted it was her unanimously.
This is what the Plaque reads:
Susan E. McGee
Memorial Scholarship
Presented to
Julia Suter
In recognition of the positive contributions to the
Glenbrook SouthBand
and serving as an inspiration to others even through adversity
while demonstrating grace, good humor and compassion.
May 2008

Everyone was really happy for her. Plus the money will be donated towards her college directly to the college!
Another really neat thing is this particular award was just created by the family.
Julia is the first to receive it. One of the Band moms said She has really set the standards high.
What a nice compliment.

Remember the school receiving the Grammy? I finally got a picture of it up close.
They showed the clips of it at the awards!

OMG Judy, that is beautiful...Julia is an exact replica of you .. you should be proud of her! Bet she's on cloud 9...

Liz, you are an enabler, trying to give me ideas...more ideas means more work..already takes me forever...lighthouse is adorable but I'll pass..lol..steps are a cute idea..how much land is left at your house, seems you have every square inch almost spoken for...lol..

Had wanted to mention...don't shake your heads..Christmas is coming..and in early November some of you will want to do our 2nd Annual Craft day via DG...

So know it's early but it's the right time of year to go in search of a 12" tomato cage..you know, I've looked all over and can't find 12" ones, so before the gardening season ends and you think you might want to follow and make one or two or three as gifts, out you go to pick up that tomato cage...lol...

Hate to move us over, but the thread is getting long and difficult for some to open..
