Here's John engrossed in a conversation with someone. This was outside the Du Pont winter home. Ruby and John walked up there to wait for us while we all went intot he woods to see all the Tulip trees and the loft house.

Thank you so much Shirley and Gita for adding these pictures. Gita, I sure did miss a treat with the Orchid Room it seems. Both of you took some lovely shots. Kind of like Sally must feel each time that she looks at her pictures from Rome, in awe.

I haven't even looked at the pictures that I took yet. Will check them out at some point tomorrow.

Thanks again ladies.

Oops, you're right Gita, they are Tree Peonies. Regardless, they were beautiful!

And here I thought I did not like white Astilbes.....I just fell in love with these! They looked like powder puffs!

The main room in the Conservatory was filled with Clivias--both orange and the yellow ones. This is a close-up of a yellow bloom cluster.

Our last stop was the Bell Tower. Just such a beautiful setting...

LOVE the old stone construction! So--medieval looking....
This was the entrance into the tower. Then there was a winding stone staircase if you wanted to go up. Eeerie.....

This is the tower from the back side. To me--this looks just so grand!
Took this when we were winding our way back to the parking lot to devour some Apple Fritters I brought....

Here is a close-up of the plaque by that humongous Sequoia slab. Kind of puts it's age into perspective!

Awesome pics everyone!!!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Wow! Love that Grand Finale pic..thanks to all, for the wonderful tour.

When I saw the pic of the waterfall down the steps..I thought wouldn't it be fun to run through..but probably too slippery..and not allowed.
Gorgeous. blooms ...I liked all the white hanging baskets and Astilbe in the conservatory..must have amazing gardeners working there..so many interesting displays.

So nice to see all you happy Daves Gardeners too. Shirley..did any strangers ask about your T-shirt? I'll bet it got some smiles.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi everyone, got home safe and sound, around 3:30, we took the PA turnpike and then north on 79 this time, the toll was high $16.00 but saved us a lot of time and aggravation, it rained about 3/4 of our trip back and very heavy at times. Now I have some time before I go to work but I had a good nights rest so I'll post some pictures.

Just getting started, all fresh and eager to go!

You all did a wonderful job with the photos. Shirley, thanks so much for the tree house, wish I could have been up there with you all. What a great job of photographing the name plates for the odd varieties, I will remember to do that when I do go. The fountain displays look phenomenal and the wisteria is just gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing, everyone looks like they had a great enjoyable day with tons of memories.

hi ladygardener :) you're too funny! I'm really enjoying everyones photos and thinking...how did I miss that? Well, we missed some trail sites early on trying to catch up with you all!

I'm sorry we missed the golden chain tree in that first garden area and that yellow tree peony. I would love to know what peony that was...I'm looking for our first tree peony and I like that coloring :)

I'll add a few more photos up to the veggie garden...

this is similar or may be the same one Jen posted: this is 'Erin Rachael'

this was a nice veggie garden area outside away from the large veggie 'Idea Garden'. This was one of my favorite parts because it had a few really great pergolas and a compost bin that I wish we had!

I'm going to post more pictures of the pergola in the trellis thread I started so as not to bore you with the details here...I really want my husband to build us one so I took pictures of structural details, which I will post here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/844786/

I really loved this plant, and it was soooooo FRAGRANT....I couldn't find a sign for it so if anyone has any idea of what it may be, I would love to know :)
