Wow - that Shirazz looks fantastic, Bill! Thanks. I have a feeling one will find its way to my garden. Other shots are great as well - especially the JM's, of course.

that one is beautiful

Victor just trying to get you to spend a little $$ after what I spent this week::)

I wish I had ordered a larger beni shichihenge - it is going to be a beauty some day. Everything this week was 3 ft.

Which one is that last one, Daisy. Looks like a doublefile, but which?

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

sjms, I love 'China Town'. Will have to try them here next year. And the 'Shirazz' is gorgeous too, wha. Every day I see more and more plants to add to the list. I ripped out a line of leggy Forsythia yesterday to make another flower bed. Too many great ideas here! My family thinks I'm crazy, I'm doing all this while I am expecting a baby in August. Makes for a funny scene- tree pruners, saw, shovels, and a big ol' belly! Here's the wreckage.

JM Bloodgood is the one I just bought. I planted it in a place that gets some morning sun, then dappled shade, then sun again at the end of the day. Did I pick an OK spot??

Beautiful, Dyane! Love that deutzia. Just planted my first one and it's still small. Yes, I agree with Celeste - don't do too much. Baby comes first - congrats! The spot should be okay, Celeste, though Bloodgood can take full sun.

Gorgeous blooms, DyanesGarden. Love that Deutzia. I wonder if deer like it?

Victor: I believe that Viburnum is a "Shasta"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Shasta is probably my single favorite one. Deutzia is supposed to be deer resistant and they have not touched mine yet.

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

I agree w/ your assessment of Shasta. It grows fast and in a very interesting horizontal aspect.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the horizontal branching is the best of the doublefiles. Mine are about six feet high and about 12 feet wide now.

The bugs are murderous today! If I stopped to take photos, they used me as a landing strip, or a fly-by restaurant! But, I managed to get a few pics.

This is one of the two Sand Cherry bushes that survived the winter. It didn't bloom last year, its first year, but looks really nice this year.

A tulip.
Poor thing! I have no idea what its name might be.

Another poor, no ID tulip. But what a beautiful color.

My very young Bleeding Heart plant is blooming, even though it is so short.
This is its first year here in this garden.

Lastly, here is a long view of the Front Garden as it looks today.
What you see beyond the front step is all new. That's what Anna and Taelar and I worked on last year. It more than doubled our planting space.
