I used to garden, you know grow pretty flowers.....I did that before I started writing, going to lectures on growing flowers, reading books on flowers, watching TV programs on flowers, chatting about flowers, taking my mother to the grocery store 8 times a day......:)

Here is some pictures I took of what I think are flowers I grew between going to the grocery store and listening to my favorite garden radio show.....:)

Paul - love your pics! Why is it I can go into Wal Mart for 10 min but if I take my mom we are there two hours...oh I know...she loves to shop more then I do and I love to garden more then she does, so I'm in a hurry to get home and she wants to gab to everyone she sees LOL

rednyr, Too cute! I love those little face add ons for trees, And the sign in that photo goes great with it!

Paul - loved loved loved the rubber snake story!, congrats on the pictorial and article in the local paper...its does make one glow to know others find their hard work beautiful doesn't it! I also really liked the picture of your mama by the trellis - if you get a chance ask her if she has a good ginger cookie recipe...I bet she has a dandy one and I so love them and lost my only true good recipe an Amish lady back home in Indiana gave me....your mom and your wife Linda sound like a great group to support and inspire you...oh BTW - let me know when the book comes out...'cause I love the way you write...Welcome to Carolina Gardening and look forward to seeing you and linda on the threads!!!

Iris you're welcome and thanks for looking.....

rednyr.....Your mother unfortunately has the very same disease as my mom....its the dreaded, "I'm only going to pickup a couple of things" disease.....its not fatal don't worry, but if you're with her when it breaks out, you can forget gardening for a while.......:)

Deanna, yes the story in the paper was nice, tickled my mother pink.....As for the ginger cookies my mom is an entree cook, she can wow with all kinds of stuff, but she couldn't bake a batch of cookies if her life depended on it.......beats anything I ever seen...my granny, she could do ginger cookies, and if you're serious I'll take a look at some of her old recipe cards and books and see what I can come up with.....nice meeting you too Deanna.....

The bee balm is blooming. It's a favorite of the hummingbirds, as are the feeders of course. It's good thing they're not any bigger, they're aggressive little guys.

I'm a sucker for any thing labeled "candy corn." In this picture are a couple cuphea, a lobelia, a gloxinia, anisacanthus, echinacea and some zinnia.

I like your "candy corn" combo. It's very nuanced- as opposed to chaotic which is what I have, lol.

Actually most of my garden is not this bad.
