I think this is some type of ruellia but I'm not sure...

That is probably a Ruellia elegans. Awesome flowers all and I can' t believe your hydrangeas are already blooming Red, mine are just starting down here. I have a blooming passi, 'Lavender Lady', but the darn thing is invasive here and it is a bear to pull out. I think it's roots go to China and back.

I love all these pics!

Rednyr, I really like your xeric garden.

Tropicanna, I especially like that Kniphofia. I hope mine blooms as pretty as that this year.

Here are a few of my May pics-

Jatropha integerrima. This one goes dormant most years for me, usually not until that last cold spell in spring - very frustrating! But, when it starts blooming again it stays like this until the following winter. The hummingbirds love it. The color is a little darker than it appears in this photo and I do have a pink version coming along which should be in bloom soon.

Rose 'Topsy Turvy', The intense red never come true in my photos. It is blooming now but I dug out this photo from last year because it really shows the reverse on the petals. i

Tropic--love the Kniphofia and the variegated catmint; when it starts getting really hot there (like it has been here ;( for a couple of weeks now) your totally tempted will look like this, all of the Cuphea's are perennial here.

Ardesia--love that Jatropha!

WOW!!! everyones gardens are looking so pretty....it just makes all the effort worthwhile to watch our gardens grow and I find it truly inspiring to see what others are doing in their gardens too!

Trop- love love that justicia carnea, and the martagon 'backhouse' it totally cool...I really have to come see your yard...your are my xeric inspirattion ya know!

Ardesia - I adore your passi! I wish my will get as beautiful as yours, the hib is awesome and I must say I have a huge spot in my heart for roses...they are difficult at times with blackspot and all but they are soooo worth it, your pic shows just why!

and Chamthy I can see why your 'new fav garden spot' is a fav! just makes me wanna sip a cup of java and listen if you know what I mean :o)

Iris - since you live so close to me if ya ever have any more passi seeds let me know, I have a passion for getting them all over my yard, be glad to trade you whatever you see in my yard LOL

ok off to go plant something LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

You know I never see seeds on mine, at least not like the old timey maypop seeds but they must be there somewhere because the little ones are all over. I wish they transplanted better, I could send you dozens. I have a coccinea that was almost a remodeling casuality but it has popped up again and I hope it will burst into bloom soon.

I use cornmeal for blackspot on my roses. It isn't perfect but it does help. When you sprinkle it on the soil around roses it gets some kind of corn fungus that eats the blackspot fungus - or so they say.

Iris, that Wild Horses is gorgeous!!!! I can't believe you got those fans at $3 a piece, that's amazing.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Those are amazing daylily fans for that price. I'll be in G'ville in June for the state Master Gardener conference, maybe there will be a few left at that time. For those who might be interested, the conference is open to the public; the dates are the 22-24 and it will be held at the downtown Hyatt.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Thankyou Bordersandjacks! I can't believe I got them for $3 a piece either, I was So Excited! I'm going to get me some more next week!!

Thanks ardisia! I'm pretty sure she is open until the end of June ( But, Not positive) You can see all the cultivars she has on her site in the classified's, I believe there are over 60 cultivars that are on sale for $3 a double fan, Plus a photo gallery with all the named ones that she has, Ones that are on sale and others that are not on sale ( And even those are pretty decent prices)
Thanks for the info on the state Master Gardener conference.
