J.Plunket, thanks for showing us your tropical combination. It reminded me that I want to replace all of my caladiums with alocasia Hilo beauties this year. The caladiums are very pretty, but they usually fizzle out in sept. or Oct. and then you are left with bare spots in the garden.
LouC, when are you going to show us your new Tropical area? I read about all the nice plants RJ brought you last week. They should have perked up nicely now after the rain .
My plants are being stressed-out right now with all the sun that they are gettinng. I had to cut down a 20 ft. live oak that was shading them last year.
DdeTex, the BOP has been in the same pot for about 8 yrs. now, so I am sure it is root bound. It blooms sporadically all summer with a big flush of blooms late in the fall.
Tropical garden #9
Oh you should have gotten the alocasia Hilo beauties in the co-op we just had less than 2.00 each and they are good sized to boot. Very very nice, Chris was the shop we partnered with and everything in his store was at discout - stuning... really stunning... cannot wait to getmy treasures.
Christi - did you pick where you are going to add the 7 new types of musa to your yard at? The whole garden is so far tropial already I cannotwait to see it once the musa and alocasia all get going! Let alone the brug forest you have now - should be stunning this summer. The Root Beer plant - Hoya Santa - you can me is getting huge and the shell ginger is shooting up too! Thak you agai for both of them!
Rita, should you go to the Texas forum you will find "everything is coming up xxxsomething, something, something." Yesterday I posted a good many pictures of my garden at present. Will take a while to make the tropicals the focal point. Afraid my garden is more than a little schizophrenic...matches its owner. hahaha
After visiting Randy's garden last fall I have been craving his style. Being such a different climate not sure I can pull it off.
Always open to visitors. Randy was really disappointed he didn't get to visit your garden while he was here last weekend.
I do have a great deal of tropicals and am currently digging new beds and making room for all the gifts I have received from Randy and Mitch.
Blessed to have them be my friends.

Sunshine,
is that clerodendron blooming now? Mine are all finished already but I see new suckers coming up in the strangest of places. They must have one hell of a root system.
Fred
Fred, clerodendron is just about gone by. They do send out suckers all over the place, I just pull them up when I see them.
