Congrats on the rose, Sharon! Nice shots. That's some wisteria - how old is it?
Spring Blooms - Part 5
I started it and the one in back about 20 years ago, but now I have to keep them trimmed back. I still continue to wrap the wanderers around the tree, so it will continue to get sturdier. I started one of the babies 2 years ago in another part of the yard, it is doing well, but it will be awhile before it looks like these.
I would say it takes a good 10 years for it to really be pretty and to stand alone.
Nice Wisteria!
thanks Debi.
Sharon, that is a "WOW" Wisteria.
I kinda like it too, Venu...but I have an almost identical one in the back yard. It s even sturdier than this one. Thanks. You want a runner when they start growing?? Anybody?? It's KY wisteria so I don't get many runners, but I do get some. I think they might grow well in 7a.
Victor, have you had any paw paws yet?
Hey, onewish you can bring some of that rock down here!
Daisy, I don't know how I missed that pic of your quince, How gorgeous!
beautiful wisteria Sharran. That's amazing.
if I am ever heading down your way sure... we have huge piles of softball size and smaller ... every time i dug to put a plant in I was digging out small boulders... the first two years we were here i went through more garden soil to fill the holes the rocks came out of

yes just got in... watching my friends band last night... dogs do know time... the little one had to go stand on my chest and give me kisses just now... told me i was sleeping too late and then went back to sleep
You have columbine already? I can't find any of mine. The only ones I have are the ones I've wintersowed and they are just little sprouts at the moment. The funny part is that I have one that either reseeds or is perennial and I had flowers last May already.
Victor - great pics - jealous of everyone south of here. Still waiting for the show to come. It is close and most ot the redbuds are starting to show some color., even the forest pansy for the first time.
Sharran great wisteria. Did not know about wrapping new growth around the trunk to help the support. Will not be trimming those again.
If anyone ever feels the need to plant chinese lantern's think twice. My wife had me plant it severaa years ago and I noticed it starting to creep into the lawn. I decided to make a new bed out of the area fo rsome plants i've ordered and have spent two days tearing out the roots. About two wheel barrels full and I know that I am not getting all it. The smallest little bit let behind will just start up again.
Wha I planted 3 in a large container...(thank god).... the next year there was 20 or so... never saw them bloom.. this year someone must have plowed into the container by my mailbox the the pot was smashed to pieces.. we just threw the whole mess out
Yes, Polly, I have had them - they're sloppy but delicious! Anita - that columbine bloom was newly planted so it's not representative. However, I do have some with buds ready to open in a few days.
Sounds like a fun night onewish. I don't like this at all. Today is only the second day in over a month that were are not 20 degrees below our normal temperatures, not snowing/raining, and I'm going to work! you'll all have to enjoy the nice weather for me.
That view is not hard to take at all!! Thanks again for more great pictures.
Wow.....gorgeous (!!) photos, everyone! Victor......I can't believe you have so many things in bloom already! That pond shot is spectacular......that is such a peaceful spot! All of your shots are so pretty!
Sharon - your wisteria is stunning! I also think your first rose is lovely too! Nice job! Thanks for the tip about wrapping the wisteria runners around the trunk.
redchic- I'm not familiar with the blooms you mention on the acer ......what do they look like? That's a very interesting shot!
Eleanor - I just showed your pretty rhodie bloom to my DH and we both decided we are probably going to be missing some pretty blooms by getting back a bit later this year! Lovely shot!!
Dwaine - interesting shot of the greenhouse!
Sharran, love the rhody. Is it "Blue Peter"?
Donnie--- Interesting blooms huh! The straight species (Acer Negundo---box maple) is pretty common on the east coast, or at least where i've visited. But, the blooms are fairly inconspicuous on the straight species since they are smaller and the leaves hide them much better. I took another picture of those blooms today, but I don't know if they turned out any better since a pretty dark cloud cover today. I'll post them tonight when I get home. Actually the best picture is one that I posted in the blooms 4 thread.... nope it's up above in this thread! I'm not at a good spot for doing much computer stuff or else I'd link it. It's of Acer Negundo Kelly's gold. So, imagine that same tree with darker green leaves and purplish blooms!!

Wow, Victor that's a great view of the prison yard. HEE HEE
Thanks all.
Thanks.
Redchic, yes, the rhody is Blue Peter, I have had it since 1973, and I am afraid it won't be around much longer. You can only see the few blooms, the other part is dead, dead, dead.....
Great photos, Victor, and all the rest of you, too.
Great shots again Victor.... you have me so interested in the stinky boy
Victor - is your peachy coloured tulip a "Wendy Love"?
i planted 4 in a pot, 3 came up, but only one has made a bud. The others look like they ought to, but haven't yet...
It is lovely, whatever its name....
I love the nightowls around here!
Donnie, the three following pics are about as good as it's going to get for me and getting a picture of these blooms. But it was a good adventure. It's really not worth it to try to get a picture of the whole tree because there's another larger tree growing 2/3 of the way around it The blooms that aren't spent are higher up in the tree... so there's a little climbing involved to even get close enough to take a picture of the blooms. But, I had fun doing it!
