Spring Blooms - Part 5
I tried growing a wisteria once. I gave up after several years as it never bloomed. I tried everything. Fertizlizer, cutting, moving, root cutting...anything I googled to get it to bloom - nothing -
It's probably blooming at the landfill.......
Victor - beautiful backyard. How large is your property?
I think I'll try corydalis by seed.
Nice shots, rc. Amy - I will check the tulip marker or my receipt. Anita - about 6/10 of an acre.
it seems much bigger from your pictures.
What a great weekend! Spent Saturday with the dirtiest hands (soil) I've had in a long time.
Started by loosening all the soil in what we call the long garden, mixing in some good soil and then mulching. Went from sad looking dry to healthy dressed bed.
Next project was Marilyn's herb garden. One end (shady) was in real sad shape. Dry, sandy, clay type of soil. Turn over the whole bed, added a mixture of peat moss, good soil and manure and mixed in the whole bed. Wow, what a difference.
Couldn't finish the day without something new so we went to a local (large) garden center. Bought a Mountain Laurel (Minuet) and a Foxglove (Strawberry) for the long garden. A cinnamon fern and a Salvia for the herb garden. Also got in the mail, a Monkshood (bicolor), Man On Fire (daylily).
Am waiting for 4 more DL's;
Clothed in Glory
Raspberry Masquerade
Moonlit Masquerade
Siloam Little Girl
The hill garden is really lookin great this year. Most everything that was planted seems to be coming back.
Now I need to find some ideas of plants for the shady area of the herb garden.
Hope everyone had a great weekend,
Chuck
i've promised myself to clean the house today... boo hoo.. but the rain is GREAT
Everyone's pictures are beautiful, and Victor, you must feel like you are walking around in a gorgeous park when you stroll in your garden.
Later i'll see if I can post some less than perfect pictures of whats blooming up here. Not too much yet- we're still in the forsythia stage... sarah
Sounds like a very productive weekend, Chuck! Amy - the tulip is 'Marit'.
Great pics of all your pretty shrubs Victor. Hope my Fothergilla looks that nice in a couple of years. Love your view too.
RC those are very pretty shots. Love the purple and blue.
Chuck sounds like a great weekend gardening, congrats on garden beds coming back so well.
Tulips waiting for the rain with everything else.
They should be getting plenty of rain today ngam! We're getting drenched.
It has stopped raining in Northcentral, Pennsylvania. This may or may not be good news for others. Unfortunately there is a short break planned here and then we may send some more your way.....all week in fact.
Enough....enough....enough allready. Need to dry up for a few days here. No flooding here but gardening is out of the question at the moment. If it does not warm up and dry up we are going to have fungi problems at start up for our gardens.
Victor wrote;
Current view out my LR back window.
Chuck asked;
Can I move in? I don't eat much.
Soundsl like a wonderful weekend Chuck!
I was busy gardening this weekend too. My muscles are achey and sore to proove it.
Rainy today. I'm glad. We need it and I just planted grass seed in the back.
Redchic - very cool photos.....I hope I didn't put you in jeopardy to climb up there and get those!! Thank you! The corydalis are pretty as well! I transplanted one from our woods and lost it over the winter last year. sniff.
Ngam - beautiful shot of the purple tulips with the blue flowered ground cover!
Cute little bud, Sherrie!
Donnie, nope no danger. things like that always make the day more interesting! Grew up out in the woods with only boys for neighbors. Climbing trees was almost a necessity for having friends! Climbed the trees to build a treehouse to slide down the rope, then repeat process. And to ultimately end up a big mess by the end of the day. Sorry to hear about your corydalis. I would sniff just the same. I get worried every summer when they dissapear even though I fully know that they do that only to return in the fall.
Victor: i agree with chuck. Is there a good time to move in?
Great rose schicken!

Redchic, I loved your hummer and cat videos. Great!
Thanks, rc and Chuck. Think we have a full house, though! Videos? Did I miss something?
Oh good! I'm glad that people are still finding them since they're a little lost in the threads.
Ohhh.... not sure that they're all that interesting, unless you like cats and humming birds. there was a little dialog that led up to this very early one morning. the first vid (about 20sec.) is of the many hummers after I restocked their food one morning last week. And the second, which looks like a black box but is a viable video, is of my cat doing a trick that she uses to get what she wants. :-p it's cute enough that it's nearly 100% affective.

I like both and I enjoyed both videos! The praying is hilarious - she has an angelic look while doing it!
Cute videos, cat looks like it's saying "please pretty please"
She has the look of the cat from Shrek!
Kitty high five?
Is it a federal offence to kidnap hummingbirds? What I woun't give to have just one of those beauties!
Yes it would be cool having them fly around the house. I'm sure my cat would love it!
Haha. She does look like the cat from shrek playing patty cakes! I'll be sure to give her a "high five" for work. Now everyone knows why I have such a spoiled cat!
Try to teach her to 'raise the roof'! That will be real cool.
Ohhh boy would you have fun here! There's more birds than that. I'm thinking of putting up a third feeder. But, good luck catching the buggers! Actually, they wouldn't be hard to catch. They've been coming around for so long that they're quite used to us and will actually sit on the feeder if you're holding it...... albeit not for very long!
victor... wouldn't your cat go insane after a while? couple days of not sleeping while trying to chase it for 48 hours.
Yes, I'm sure he would. I have never had more than two at my feeder at one time. I just have way too many flowers that they prefer to the feeders.
kitty video is very cute and if i ever saw that many hummers i might have a heart attack.... in the 3 years we lived here i only saw 1 and only twice
Great shots, Deb!
