oh my, beck, i haven't heard that one in a while.....except they were just carter's liver pills to us. never did know what those were.
thanks sweezel. do you have a sedum collection? and i wouldn't want to walk on the salvia but i am looking for a groundcover that blooms blue. when does that one bloom by the way? sweezel, help me remember you.....we met last fall didn't we? you are little and cute and a near kid, aren't you? lol.
i am going to see if i can edit now. did dave come in here while i was gone?
Central Texas Near I-45 Trade List for June 8th RU
beck, what did you ask me for that last time? i tried to read back but can't see it.
Mama.. you have it listed... I couldn't find the post either..and I know I typed it.. just don't know where it went... and if you have any more ox-eyed daisies, please send them my way instead on the compost, please. I didn't know what they looked like, and tj posted a pic... I like!!
now i remember...it was sweezel's request for spiderwort that i didn't write down.
Hey mamajack, yep I was at the Arlington swap last fall. Well, I've always been told I look like I am a kid and am very petite All these years, I have been told I look so young - 12 at 18, 16 at 25, etc and told I would appreciate it when I was 30, 40, 50 etc. I hit the 30 mark and I still don't appreciate it quite yet. :-) My daughter (the red head) was also running around with your kids, I believe.
Well, I don't try to collect sedums but I guess I have a number of them. Really the only other three I have are a real common one that blooms yellow, and in a strawberry pot with the S. Mexicanum, a bulbus silvery green one that blooms pink, and 'Vera Jamison'. I had 'Purple Emperor but it did not return.
The salvia did not start blooming for me until September last year, but it was a new plant in May, so not sure if I'd go by it's first year here. It would be a great ground cover the way it spreads out, and is even pretty shade tolerant from what I have heard. It's not evergreen though.
sweezel.........i do remember you now. and i thought you looked at least 24. but i'd still have to card you if you were trying to buy beer. lol. well besides the tradescantia can i bring you something? i'm getting so many different ones from you.
mamajack, If you can find the rock rose, I'll still take it if you can get it, also a eupatorium greggii and some purple beebalm.
FYI -- I added two Black & Blue Salvia.
I have the following available for trade
Bulbine (orange flowers): Sweezel, DawninTx
Elephant ears (2 potted)
Angel Trumpet - double white
Butterfly plant (milkweed?) - yellow/red flowers: MamaJack, Charlene
Added June 2, 2008 - Also have the following:
White Shrimp Plant (1 potted)
Texas Star Hibiscus (I think they are white, not sure though)
Peacock Ginger (ground cover, lavender blooms)
Swedish Ivy
..Lynne

lynne, i want some of your milkweed.
Hello Everyone, I just found out that i can come to the swap, so please count me in.
I am so happy!!!!
I will be posting a list later, and also food and so forth, are we doing prizes?
Josephine.
Glad to hear you can come Josephine!
Lynne can I get some bulbine?
I have tons of Tropical Milkweed seedlings coming up in the beds, but they are tiny and I don't know if they would be worth bringing. I might bring some if someone wants some.
Hi Lynn... nice to meet you... wanna trade?
I would like the milkweed and the BRUG !!!! woopee!! PLEASE !!!!!
Goodie... I get to meet Josephine!!
Yea! Josephine is going to make it.!
I just found out this weekend that that is the same weekend my dh is leaving for a mission trip to Germany. I'm not sure which day he's leaving. If it's Sunday morning, I probably won't make it to Buffalo. Hoping it'll be Saturday morning.
PBtxlady I hope he goes on Saturday so you can come.
Yeah!! Josephine!
I want some of somebody's milkweed pleeease.
I just invited a neighbor to come. I will have to go get some of her stuff together for her to trade. She doesn't do the computer so she can't join DG. She has some gold colored lantana I know for sure. It was dark, so I don't know what else she has, but I'm going over there on Thursday to see what she has to trade. She is disabled but she gets around her 60 acres by riding her cart out to the trail and hopping onto her golf cart and off to the woods with her!
She is the worlds best cook as far as dumplings go. I may see if she is up to bringing a batch of them to the RU.
She had one plant growing that I took a flower from and a leaf so I could photograph it, but my darn batteries are dead. I hope the flower isn't dead by the time they get charged. I know Josephine will know what the heck it is. I need to know if I can propagate it. She and I have swapped goodies before, including chickens and guineas.
Charlene
pattie, we need to get together. is it over? lol.
Charlene..... I have two packs of seeds (Mex.MW 'curassavica' & 'SilkyGold' Milkweed) that I can share with you. They will be up and ready by the time Monarchs arrive this fall.
No, not yet! Another delivery coming today.
Thank you Sheila, my pretty butterflies will appreciate you!
Charlene
Oh my Gosh!! I just met my first Columbine! You guys who have been at this a while may think I am nuts, but I have never taken notice of a columbine before now.
The little flower I was wanting to identify and couldn't photograph because of dead batteries is a purple columbine.
They are beautiful!!
If anyone has any trades of these babies, let me know and I'll dig until I find something to trade with you for a start of these. I suppose I would like any of them even though I have only met the purple so far.
Charlene
P.S. Ain't God great? what purty stuff he has made for us to gaze upon!
You are right Charlene, God's wonders are plentiful, and sometimes we are in too much of a rush to appreciate them and be thankful.
Josephine.
Does anyone care for the following wildflowers?
Meadow Pink Sabatia campestris
Phlox
LMK
I have some growing beside my road and the mowers mow them regularly. I think they would be great in a flower bed.
I also have a few S Greggii growing in my wooded area.
Charlene, Sabatia campestris is lovely, but it is an annual as are most of the Sabatias.
So if they have already bloomed, I don't know if they would rebloom again since they have already cut them.
Do you know which kind of Phlox it is? some are annual and some perennial.
You are lucky to have the Salvia greggii growing wild, you should bring some to your flower beds, if you don't already have it.
Josephine.
The phlox are here every year, I don't know if it is from re-seeding or roots.
Charlene
That looks very pretty, I guess it is worth a shot, you never know with plants.
I think I will pot up some of all of these and see what happens. If nothing else, maybe I will capture some seeds. If they don't die from shock, maybe they will be alive for the RU and I can share with whomever is desiring them.
They are up and down the roadside and look so pretty before they get mowed. There are plenty more that are up soon after the mower, so I don't know if they are the same plants with new blooms or other plants just coming up.
I would like to know if they would get taller if not mowed. Maybe when I photo them you will know what kind they are and I will know then.
Charlene's off to the wildside to capture plants and pics. LOL
I says the get up to 20 inches, but the ones I have seen are usually no more than a foot tall.

com--------frey. i have comfrey. anybody?
Well my first daylily is blooming now and they have lots of buds and the flower is very nice and large. It is Zagora. It is a Tetrapoid and is a dormant. I will add one of these to my trades in case someone wants it. The mystery daylilies are going to get tagged, so those who wanted the mystery but named ones have first choice for this one if they would like it, or they can wait and see what else shows it's pretty face.
Charlene

I can add more incense passionvine to the list....they are popping up in my yard now, hopefully I can dig them before the mowers get them.
blue_eyes if you have some extra of those, I'd love to have some as I killed my last ones. I shared them at the October RU because I had plenty. They didn't come back this year.
Charlene
blue eyes i think dawn and i will take some too. the gulf frit cats ate mine up last year. so i'll take as many as i can get. i know dawn wants one kind of passionflower. no, it's not incarnatus. do you have any more constance elliot? was it you who had them? if not you does anyone have constance elliot for dawn?
Me too blue-eyes?
Charlene...keep your eyes peeled, one of mine didn't start popping back up until after this last rain even though my maypop has been up and growing for about a month. I'll put everyone down.
Kim
Coco_lulu, may I have a coral nymph? Don't toss them.
See if there is something on my list for you.
Charlene
Me, please, cocoa!
cocoa, me too please! Thank you.
LynneH_Tx,
Could I possibly get some bulbine from you? Is there anything on my list you might want?
