(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin' all..

Mama.....Just wondering if I can still get the obedient plant... misc. daffys... and purple bee balm from you ??? Purty please?

cocoa... May I have one of your pineapple sage... and the salvias??? Please?

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I see mama's up way past her bedtime and beck is after the early bird worm. Me, I'm a 'tweener. I slept late this morning cuz I couldn't rest last night. Burrrrsitis! It is awful! Makes it hard on a girl to garden.

I'm going to take some cuttings today and see what I can get started rooting. I wonder if anyone needs some golden barbary? How about witch hazel? Wygelia? They will all be freshly started rootings if anyone wants any.

Charlene

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin' Charlene... I was up late with mama, but had to get up early with DH. He went to Beaumont to gett preadmit for hip replacement surgery this Monday... he just had his 12 th (!).... back surgery 5 weeks ago.. He has been through the ringer..You normally won't see me on early...lol

That bursitis hurts bad.. I sure feel for you! Have you had cortisone shots in the joint? That really helped me, and my shoulder was torn a little... haven't had any trouble in about 6 yrs!!

I would love to have a cutting of the witch hazel and wygelia... please???

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

;-pppppppppppppppppp

Sorry Beck, you got'em. I'm just slow to edit.lol

I've decided, I'll never do a co-op! I do have the utmost admiration for ya'll. Hang in there, kitties :0)

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Mama is that all you got to say? LOL

I'll have you some starts on those Beck.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, the hosta coop is going great! Factoid for the day: 9.5 out of 10 coop participants are fine with substitutes. :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, I don't know if I will be coming, but I sure would like to have some Witch Hazel
Could you save me a cutting or two?
Thank you very much.
Josephine.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Josephine.......you haaave to come!! Who's gonna tell us everything we see in the woods? We just took a drive out the back and I asked DH what is that grass? He said I don't know, I I know is it volunteered and I wish it wouldn't volunteer out here in the pasture. I said well Josephine will tell me what it is and I'll find out how to get rid of it. (After I take some up to the house and plant it.)LOL

I hate that you can't come, and I will attempt to have the witch hazel rooted for you by October. I rescued the shrub last fall from my daughter's house as she was moving. It was in a sad condition. It is looking pretty good now. I am working on shaping it into a ball. There is a place in Palestine that has a row of them about 3 or 4 feet in diameter in perfect ball shape. When they bloom it is awesome. This time of the year the leaves are a dark purplish color. They are pretty now also.

Oh, well if you don't make it, I'll probably be photographing stuff for you to identify. You are usually the first one to know what things are.

Josephine, just so you know this is the witch hazel that I have. It may not be the one you were thinking of.

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.nichegardens.com/images/plants/loropetalum_ruby.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nichegardens.com/catalog/item.php%3Fid%3D2223%26PHPSESSID%3D42271a4b096b99c3d22917aee9dcbd45&h=93&w=127&sz=79&tbnid=BHbfRFDySzEJ:&tbnh=93&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dloropetalum&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=1

It really is pretty, but when I google witch hazel, I get other things also called witch hazel.

This one is the loropetalum or chinese version.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well Charlene, you are right that is not the one I was thinking about, I was thinking of the native kind, this one;
http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=HAVI4
That is why common names can cause confusion.
I do want to come and will do my best to make it, I would hate to miss seeing my friends and all the fun.

Charlene, Could I have some Passion Flower Incarnata. Mine did not return.

Mamajack, can I get some spiderwort? I'll take as much as you want to give and it can just be thrown in a baggy at the last minute. I have two clumps in the wild area behind my fence and I want more. Also, a brazilian rock rose?

cocoa, I'd love a Baptisia alba baby.

I do hope you can make it, Josephine. Just wouldn't be the same without you.

Sweezel, got you down for the baptisa. You know what I want. I've passed up purchasing the Tagetes twice this Spring.lol

I'm adding three Russian Sage,
Perovskia atriplicifolia rooted cuttings to my list.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

* taps Cocoa on the shoulder* umm excuse me missy but I do not see you listed on the head count page...I know it is just an over sight on your part...it better be since you talked me into coming...heheheh...besides DH asked me if he could trust me going someplace with you since we always come back with plants..ROFL..and yes he does know I am driving from my place and you from yours as it would be silly for you to drive over here then down.
Get over and get your head counted!!!!! ROGLMAO

Opps, I'm accounted for. I think we both have to go through Athens. Maybe we could meet and take my car car from there. lmk

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mm well I'll look and see which way is shorter I was thinking going through Palestine and over as if I was going to Austin
but will look and see which would be better

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine...... If you are interested, DH and I plan on going down and you can ride with us if you want to. We will be returning that day.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Cocoa... yep, I was waiting for your request. Gotcha down :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Sheila, it is that I just don't know yet if I will have the day free, but I appreciate the offer.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Sweezel... nice to meet you !!

I would like to trade with you....I would like the acanthus and nana coreopsis.. please

Becky

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, ok I understand . Hopefully you can get away, it wouldn't be the same without you.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Josaphine,
I know you said you would like to be with your friends... but you have a new friend that is dying to meet you !!!... hint hint

Becky

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

If anyone wants eggs, please bring egg cartons. I should have a few dozen to offer. Nice dark yellows and umm good. Only organic food and they live in a chicken tractor, so they get fresh grass to graze and bugs to eat.

If anyone wants baby chicks, let me know how many and I'll get 'em started 21 days before the RU and let'em hatch that day for you to take straight home. I have some mixed standards (all large egg layers) and some Buff Laced Sebright bantams.

If anyone else has any chicks, or eggs, or gunea's eggs (how dooo you spell guenea?) to trade let me know and we'll put up a separate thread for that.

Also some people may have produce available. Don't forget to bring that to the trade.
My bursitis and my family's two major illnesses (one in Iowa and one in Orange) (Both in and out of ICU) have kind of slowed me down this year.

I think produce would make a nice gift for the prize table drawings. I may add some eggs to the prize table.

Charlene

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Sweezel, May I have a trade of some of the following if you have any left?
Mexican Marigold
Potted Coneflower Echinacea
Flame acanthus
Charlene

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

OOOHHH!!!! Sweezel.......I absolutely have to have a Hercules Club tree....please???? It is a larval host plant for the Giant Swallowtail that I don't have.

Charlene....In my excitement I forgot to ask you for a start of your Passiflora Incarnata please.

I had no idea the hurcules club tree was good for anything except to cut yourself on... I dig them up all the time... Maybe I better save 1... but do you want another one Sheila?? I know where I can get at least 10 ...lol

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

gotcha sweezel. i can bring so much spiderwort. might even find you some different colors.
the rock rose i will search for. if anyone has the regular rock rose can you bring that for mibus as i haven't found any babies yet.

sweezel.....i want as many of those dychoriste linearis plants as i can have. i have to research that a little more but that may be just what i'm looking for. between that and sheila's speedwell that might just get me started on something i want to get done. can you walk on this stuff? would you call it "INVASIVE"? ALSO, s. darcyi and sinoalensis if you have them.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

poot dave. i can't edit anymore. sweezel help me remember to add you to my list tomorrow up at the top.

poot, dave!!!!!!!!!!!!! whyon't you fix 'at?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a couple of rock rose seedlings. They are just seedlings, but I'll be glad to bring them. Don't know how easily they root, but I can try that too.

Hey, sweezel brought me one of her Mexican marigolds last fall, and I just fell in love with it! Really a great plant if you have a hot spot.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sweezel......I would love to have two HC, just in case I kill one.

Beck.......btw...Two foot would be max height on the pine tree.

I will list more this weekend, it has been hectic at work and I can't think, much less bend and dig this week. Will look and see what I have.
One thing I know is Horsetail Rush, Liarope, and a couple Lizard tail and other water plants.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY, DAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!!!!!!!!! come fix this thing. it still won't let me edit. says i've reached my quota and i haven't even done one yet.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin,

Sheila... ok that will be what I will look for ...2 foot pine

Charlene... I am hoping to have lots of vegies by then so count me in there

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

sweezel if you have plenty of that sedum i would take some of that too. since i can't edit i'm just going to ask for stuff.

anybody for i think apple mint....tall furry plants. really pretty, soft looking foliage.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

mama..... welll if you'd quit hollaring like a banshee... and "knock" first... ol' Dave might answer you.................. (ROFL)

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Beck, I haven't heard anyone use that word "banshee" in a while. LOL

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene I got you down for the Mex Marigold & Coneflower, but I only have one of the flame acanthus and beck claimed it first. It's the only one of last year's seedlings that made it through the winter. I'd be glad to try starting a cutting for you. I have never tried to grow it from cuttings, but I will start a few today.

Sheila, both of the hercules club are yours.

Mamajack, I don't know if I would call the dychoriste linearis invasive yet, as I have only had it a year, but it spreads very well be underground runners. My little 4" pot size plant I bought a year ago is about 18" in diameter. I am going to dig up around the outside perimeter to bring. Same situation with the s. sinoalensis. Not sure about walking on it either, as I have not tried. I will try to get a picture and post it in a bit.

As for the sedums, i will bring you a cutting of the 'Brilliant' and S. Mexicanum. Maybe you can claim one of Sheila's gallon size S. Kamtschaticum. That's where I got mine originally anyway, back in fall '06. :) It would be much bigger than a little cutting.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Charlene.... I will trade you an acanthus for?? LOL ...no, if you want it I will be glad for sweezel to give it to you instead. I have never grown it... and you know us Texans... we have more silly sayings than Carter has little liver pills... lol now that is an old one too...do they even make those pills anymore??
