Received my two cryptos from Bloom River yesterday. Photos to follow later. They look very nice. First time I ever saw a large shrub shipped upside-down! No damage or loss of soil though.

Maybe you should plant it upside down and see what happens.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I tried - hurt my neck.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

depoitras, I got Asao last year and it is absolutely gorgeous!! good luck with yours.
Victor, did you end up ordering from Tiny Treasures?? Hope your neck gets better!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, Weeze. Didn't want to wait so I went with Bloom River.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Did BR have the knap...(that's all I can remember about the spelling..it's been a long hard working weekend) I can't get that one out of my mind. Gotta have it!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - Knaptonensis and Spiraliter - those are the two I got. Here is Knapto. Those are full-size vehicles alongside.

I must stop watching these threads--who knew those dwarf iris were so cute--nice shrub, Victor--does it have a common name? I stopped by my fav local nursery today to get some pansies for my art class--$130 later I was back at the car with just a FEW boxes of annuals--too bad my DH was also in the car--he's like" you spent an hour getting pansies?" Then he looked into the boxes---oh, well--I figured if I waited longer, they might have been picked over--but disappointingly, they did not grow Cape Fuchsia or penstemon this year--they said I was the only one who liked them! That their daughters planted the leftovers all around their property last year. I can't believe NW CT gardeners are so stodgy!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes Robin - it's Cryptomeria japonica 'Knaptonensis'. A mouthful!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

And beautiful, Victor!

I bought a hibicus tree yesterday to plant in the backyard. ~~NINNY~~ Never below 50*

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

And here is there new home. I took about 10 wheel barrels full of rock and one stump out of this area that is roughly 30 x 30 and brought in 8 - 12" of new top soil. Somehow teh rototiller survived. I hope they like it here. Still need to edge and mulch. This will be the blue garden I mentioned earlier.

Nice, Bill! Looks like quite a few have tried Rosy Dawn. I'm glad. I was very happy with them last year. I might still place a quick order if they still have stuff.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful, Bill! That was quite a job!
It looks like it will be a very peaceful place.

I bought a Rodi today!!! yee haw!!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Now you're talking!
Our rhodie has just two blossom buds on it this year. Very disappointing to us.

It has buds but are they going to bloom? I am going to plant it NOW. I will take a pic of the house with nota nutting............... Then the baby rhodi :-)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I can't wait to see the photos, Sherrie.

Well it is only one rhodie for now. But I got more plants coming :-) DH is going to rip up the stepping stones and pour 3 foot cement and take out the big rocks. So as far as I am concerned I can play and plan and if he don't like it Tuff....

Here is before

Now I have planted my first big plant a purple Rhodie :-)

Congrats! What's the plan for the grass?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Noticed while planting my cryptomeria 'Knaptonensis' that the label said 'forms tight bun'. Nice bonus.

Victor to tell you and everyone the truth and nothing but the truth. I dont know what I am doing! This is the little start, go from there. DH saw it when he got home from work and was looking as he walked by and had a smile on his face.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor : You notice everything.

What have I done wrong all ready ? I feel tight vibes and buns.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Lovely grass, Sherrie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

There's nothing wrong with the grass, Sherrie. I thought you were planning on planting that entire bed. For now, just leave ample room around the rhodie and mulch it. Will help prevent mowing and trimming accidents.

Thomaston, CT

Good start, Sherri---if that side gets plenty of shade, you can mix in ferns, hostas, coral bells--how about some hardy azaleas? My flowering crab looks like a giant cotton candy--I'll try tomorrow to get a pic of it--too tired from babysitting!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh, coral bells would look wonderful there!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Robin, my cherry looks like cotton candy.

Nice going on the rhodie Sherrie!! Purple. Mmmm, that's gonna be beautiful.

My cherry.
