You got me. They are too expensive or I am too cheap.
What have you bought so far?? Pt.5
Clematis - Comtesse De Bouchard
Asao
Phlox - David
White creeping
Kniphofia - Flamenco
ANTHEMIS - E.C. Buxton
Roses - Peace, Mr. Lincoln, Circus
Can't think of anything else right now but I know there is more.
Received my two cryptos from Bloom River yesterday. Photos to follow later. They look very nice. First time I ever saw a large shrub shipped upside-down! No damage or loss of soil though.
I tried - hurt my neck.
depoitras, I got Asao last year and it is absolutely gorgeous!! good luck with yours.
Victor, did you end up ordering from Tiny Treasures?? Hope your neck gets better!
No, Weeze. Didn't want to wait so I went with Bloom River.
Did BR have the knap...(that's all I can remember about the spelling..it's been a long hard working weekend) I can't get that one out of my mind. Gotta have it!
Whoa, those are one BIG bushes :~)
I must stop watching these threads--who knew those dwarf iris were so cute--nice shrub, Victor--does it have a common name? I stopped by my fav local nursery today to get some pansies for my art class--$130 later I was back at the car with just a FEW boxes of annuals--too bad my DH was also in the car--he's like" you spent an hour getting pansies?" Then he looked into the boxes---oh, well--I figured if I waited longer, they might have been picked over--but disappointingly, they did not grow Cape Fuchsia or penstemon this year--they said I was the only one who liked them! That their daughters planted the leftovers all around their property last year. I can't believe NW CT gardeners are so stodgy!
Yes Robin - it's Cryptomeria japonica 'Knaptonensis'. A mouthful!
And beautiful, Victor!
And here is there new home. I took about 10 wheel barrels full of rock and one stump out of this area that is roughly 30 x 30 and brought in 8 - 12" of new top soil. Somehow teh rototiller survived. I hope they like it here. Still need to edge and mulch. This will be the blue garden I mentioned earlier.
Nice, Bill! Looks like quite a few have tried Rosy Dawn. I'm glad. I was very happy with them last year. I might still place a quick order if they still have stuff.
Beautiful, Bill! That was quite a job!
It looks like it will be a very peaceful place.
Now you're talking!
Our rhodie has just two blossom buds on it this year. Very disappointing to us.
I can't wait to see the photos, Sherrie.
Congrats! What's the plan for the grass?
Noticed while planting my cryptomeria 'Knaptonensis' that the label said 'forms tight bun'. Nice bonus.
Victor : You notice everything.
Lovely grass, Sherrie.
There's nothing wrong with the grass, Sherrie. I thought you were planning on planting that entire bed. For now, just leave ample room around the rhodie and mulch it. Will help prevent mowing and trimming accidents.
Good start, Sherri---if that side gets plenty of shade, you can mix in ferns, hostas, coral bells--how about some hardy azaleas? My flowering crab looks like a giant cotton candy--I'll try tomorrow to get a pic of it--too tired from babysitting!
Oh, coral bells would look wonderful there!
very pretty
