Sorry for the cross post.
Water Cooler - 7
Thanks Celeste and Victor, but I was wondering about now. Mine are almost done blooming. Ensata suggests transplanting right after bloom but they did not address division.
I would say yes, once they are finally done.
Okay, but it is with fear and trepidation about the dividing aspect. I have no problem putting foot on spade to divide something like hostas or DLs but I think Iris need a bit more care? Any advice? I can see the natural separation of the fans. Is that my guiding force? EEEEeeeek, I'm scared! lol HELP
Harper is on the weed with Victor?!
Venu, I think thet are less delicate than you think.
Iris may 'look' dainty, but it's OK to divide them and not have to be too careful.
Think of 'gentle, but firm'. That ought to be just fine. And, you'll be just fine, too.
Nice to see you back, Dave! I hope you can come to the RU!
Well, I just moved several reblooming iris - BEFORE they bloomed. But they weren't doing well where they were, so if they take a year off, oh well!! LOL I think they will do much better in their new spot. A former law clerk gave me a collection of reblooming iris for my 50th birthday, and I haven't had the blooms I thought I'd have. We'll see now how they do. A couple are blooming that I didn't move yet. They'll move after their blooming is done.
Hi! Back in N.H.?
Sheesh. You know what I meant! I agreed with Victor about his weeds comment. Goof ball.
One of our crabapple trees is almost dead - yeay!!!
So, now I'm looking for a replacement, and think today's article might be an option.
Heptacodium miconioides
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1205/
I have recommended it many times. A multi-season gem. Gets pretty big - 15 X 15 is typical. Can't believe he did not mention that in the article. He used my bloom photo. I think there could have been a bit more to the article. Pretty brief.
Did any of you read Sharon's (Sharran) article about timing the perennial blooms? found it MOST interesting. Thank you for writing that one, Sharon. It was very helpful to both Anna and me.
I noticed your photo Victor, another reason I thought it would be good.
We golfed this morning, and saw a house with a rounded wall with a row of day lily at the front of the wall, and a row of burgandy shrub something behind the lily row. It looked great, so now I'm off to find some type of medium purplish foliage to go behind happy returns day lily.
Sounds nice debby. Will there be pictures?
I ended up getting Weigela, Dark Horse. I picked up 2, wondering if I need a third. The tag said 3'x3', but plant files says closer to 2'x2'. I want to fill in an area about 5'-6'. Anyone have this? Victor, I think I saw your photo of Midnight Wine which I think is very similar.
Midnight Wine stays nice and small and tight. I like it a lot. Wine and Roses and Fine Wine, both of which I have (a few of each) is leggier than I would like.
I think I'll get a third. Thanks Victor.
Nice!
Dave - yes, we're back in NH, and enjoying being where Spring is really Spring this year!
I love Florida in the winter, but I can't get enough of New England this time of year, and all summer and in the fall. LOL I guess it's the lushness and many shades of green that keep my heart beating. Sounds like you are pretty busy......hope you can take time for yourself and get your fingers into the dirt!!
I LOVE JUNE !!!!!!!
June is my second favorite month after May!
Me too! I really felt cheated this past May though. Lots of rain and cold. Once again, I will be submitting for a refund.
I know what you mean, Dave. Well, not about the rain, though. It seems that this season, most of the rains have been to our south (your area), like it is some seasons with the snows. I just looked at the weather radar, and it's the same story ... south of us is getting rain while we have barely a drop. Perhaps it will be more wet later in the day.
Dave, let me know if you get that refund!
We got rain here, Candyce......have you gotten some too?
Dave - I wish I could have shared our gorgeous May with you! (I'd even let you have a few black flies.......they've been horrible this year!) LOL Let's hope that your June makes up for your refundable May!
Dave, I've tried that, but all they do is send another May. Very slow shipping too. Takes a whole year.

He he he
Clever, Laurel!
heehee
Went back to the nursery after work today to get the third weigela, and saw Lithodora diffusa 'Grace Ward', very pretty. It did not jump in my cart though.Anybody grow it?

Not hardy.
Not hardy for you? It said 6-8 on the tag. I just looked at the one in plant files again and it said 8-11. It was pretty.
I have to try it....who knows, maybe I can zone push it!! LOL
I was just going by the link. I had never heard if it. Nice blue!
Yeah, I'm a sucker for blue too, and may also have to try...
I think Celeste likes blue too.
