It's my favorite color in general, and tied with pink in the garden.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

DH says I have a fixation with it, I recently changed my blue livingroom to beige just to prove him wrong!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Do you listen to the blues??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

a little, I like a little of everything , was just listening to pan flute music yesterday with DH.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You sound like me. I have very wide ranging taste in music.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I think it's cause we were born in the 60's,,,flower power or something! hee hee

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Laurel, Just heard that my refunded good May days are on back order. I think you are right.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

speaking of the blues...everyone hear that Bo Diddley passed away?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, I did. It's weird. His name popped into my head the day he died. DH told me about his death the next day.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Flowerjen, I did hear about Bo Didley. We've lost an American icon for sure.

Dave, May's already out of style. Soo yestermonth. June is really what's happening!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hee Hee yestermonth...that's funny.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yestermonth.....LOL, Laurel!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Bo knows Didley

Remember when he joined the" Bo knows "ad series?

Laurel, I'm into July already.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Well, I got my second Bluestone order yesterday. The asters, daylily, hostas, brunnera, and azaleas all look great. The achillea 'terra cotta' looks a little thin, but I'm not worried - they're a tough plant. Except for the (blankety-blank) styrofoam peanuts, I'm pleased!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I lost nearly the top layer of peanuts yesterday due ro slight breeze.
It was 90 w/ humidity to match so I just let everything go.
I might have to re-evaluate Bluestone, especially when I open two orderes a week for three weeks, it nuts, sorry about the pun.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

You guys are so quick and witty this week!! I have almost choked on my coffee twice! I love this stuff!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I am waiting for my bluestone order - it was shipped on Thursday and will be delivered on Monday - five days on transport in this heat????? And then it will be too hot to plant until Wednesday. . .

How are everyone's plants holding up with the heat wave?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Got my last four plants Thursday, the peanuts are driving me nuts.
Helianopsis were really lanky and dry, Its been a few days with a good watering now lower leaves are turning yellow, don't know what to do except leave them where they are and hope for a small recovery.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Most of my plants look okay... I'm starting to wilt.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

It's okay Harper. A sprinkle of fresh herbs, some balsamic and extra virgin...you'll be chic all over again. Wilted is "in" like June.

Mmm, sounds good. I should also take a dip in some cold water.

My rant for today for those who can feel my pain. I was thinning out some of my daylilies this weekend and decided to offer up some to my next door neighbour. She is always commenting on how much she loves my gardens. She took them and said she would make sure to get them in the ground soon as I left. Four days have passed and they are still sitting in big empty pots on her front porch with no protection from the sun.. It is a little upsetting to me.. She could have at least put them out of my line of sight lol.. Am I overreacting? If she didnt want them she could have said no thanks..

Oh well you live and learn.
Melissa

I would be aggrevated and go from point A to her door and ask why they are not taken care of. Then I would go into a big speil and talk her ear off so she would not want to listen anymore and take care care of the plants.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I do feel your pain. I have a life long friend who is a bit of a phony always compliments about everything always wanting plants from my garden ,same thing happened to me. I sacrificed a plant that could have had another year, took a bit of it and gave it to her along with papavar oriental.
She left them for days and wondered why they never came up.
I fell for this three times DUNNNH.
Now I just say "I'll be digging them later this summer" she forgets in the meantime and I'm happy.
The sacrifice plant was never the same it took two more years for it to fill and look nice.
I have a new credo "No more bending over backwards for anyone" as far as gardening goes.
Thanks for giving me the chance, I have never gotten this off my chest.

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

Phew thanks you guys! I felt like maybe I was taking it too much to heart. That being said she sees how much of my free time (which is limited) that I spend out in the garden. She has to know it is bothering me!! I will not fall for it again.. I will make a post here next time offering them for shipping to someone I know will love them rather than have them wasted.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Pretend she doesn't have the sensativity you do and doesn't have a clue about your feelings.
Just be sure she doesn't get on the recieving end again, she doesn't need to know why.
My fault is I'm too eager to please anyone who wants something I can give, I need to stop and think who is doing the asking, then act accordingly.
She won't be offended if you make a lame excuse and go on with what you are doing.
If she REALLY wants plants she should take up gardening and buy some for herself.

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

You know you are right JoAnn. Your last comment sounds a lot like a gardening blog I read this past week. Something along the lines of there being those who want the end result of having a nice garden but would rather it be by someone else doing all of the work for them.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was so angry when my friend failed to put the plants in.
I spend a lot of time looking for things that are different, put a lot of effort into the garden. I won't hurt myself again like that.
If it happened once to you just let it go and remind yourself not to get taken in again.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Melissa, I am bringing mine to the RU at Kassia. I KNOW they will be well cared for and loved by anyone who takes them home.
I started a thread last year to give away DL's....all I asked for was the shipping cost, the response was great!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

..and they are doing beautifully, thanks!
^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL.glad to hear it Amy!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

if i'd ever get around to uploading pictures, í'll show you! 2 have bloomed so far.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pandora's Box and what else??

(Just a guess on PB)

I will take the box and polish it up. :-)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Ours have not yet bloomed, Pixie, but they are looking so healthy and so happy in their new adopted home.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It is disappointing but most folks don't care about plants the way we do. Over time I've begun to realize which people will take care of plants and I give to them.

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

Yep I think you are right Dave. Really hard lesson learned for me. Even harder when I have to see the flowers I gave her still sitting there uncared for. Oh well.. The ones I took them from are about to bloom. I hope she comments on the blooms like she always does and I will make sure to mention they are the same type that I gave her.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

That's the way to handle her, subtle, she probably won't get it.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

You were out of Pandora's Box when i found you...
Baby Tiger Paws has bloomed once, and i've had several from the one labeled Ahoya but i don't think it is - but i like it better..! ^_^
