Wow - now Google has launched Google Health. A place for all your medical records - yeah right! I find it perplexing why there has not been way more outcry with this company. People go crazy when it's the government that might have too much info, but hardly anyone says boo when it's Google or Microsoft, or whomever. Weird. Google started getting scary a few years back when they started digitizing copyrighted works without the authors' permission. They are too powerful.

I agree with you, Victor. Our Wild Blue internet satellite was bought by Google, and ever since we've come back to NH where we have to use the satellite, I've had nothing but problems with my computer. Every time I turn around, I have strange error messages ("Your browser's cache is full and may interfere with your use of gmail.....") etc. My DH thinks Google and Microsoft are at war in my computer. Ugh. I need to take it down to the Geek Squad, but it's hard to go a week without my computer. When I got the Google Health email, I had the same reaction you did. Come on!
I think Google AND Microsoft are too big for their britches! They began with good enough intentions, but now .... sheesh!!
Fairpoint has taken over Verizon here in NH. They are "promising" to bring high speed internet to all of us rural dwellers within 2 years. I hope they are for real, because I'll get rid of this Wild Blue satellite in a heartbeat! LOL
And I'll get rid of dial-up!!
But, I'm not holding my breath.
Fairpoint has been in the South China area for almost 2 years now.....I have DSL with them and it's pretty good.
FYI all DG'ers

Congratulations!
I've gotten used to loking at plant pictures in DG forum and saying to myself "I love that one" and go to Bluestone and putting in an order for it plus a few more. I have top run out of space sometime.
I have just made a graf paper so I can layout the 24 Hostas that are comming.
Jo Ann:
I have just been given permission to create a new garden (shade garden) down at the edge of the property! I am so excited. I will be doing a lot of research to see which plants will thrive down there near the pine trees.
We can hold hands and take chances together.
Alright. I'm game for that!
Sheesh BAD influences the LOT Of you!! I will resist I will not go to Bluestones site... Maybe if I say it to myself enough...
Resistance is futile!
yEAHHHH YOU know you can't resist buying plants at half price.
I just placed an order w/Brent and Beckys and realized the lilies and monarda that was in shipment, were now half what my credit card is showing.
Not to self wait for half price saled near end of May.

It's easy for me to resist Bluestone. I used to love them, but since I've gotten such small plants and some have been mismarked, only for me to discover years later that the blue bloomer is white, etc, I don't buy from them now.
Glad to hear that someone else does not like them. I thought I was the only one! I have no patience for micro-plants. They often arrived completely dried out, tossed around, etc. They have a guarantee but who wants to bother? Also, planting small plants like that increases the chance that my squirrels pull them out.

Yep!
So, where's Dave47 been lately?
Good question!
Hey, yeah! Dave, hope all is well and you're just busy in the garden.
Hugs and kisses,
Harper
From Bluestone, about a month ago, I ordered and received 3 Kniphofia and a Sambucus 'Black Beauty'. They were very nice looking plants, and are doing well. That was my first ever order from them.
I just re-ordered today, from their sale, six different items. We'll see what those look like.
I heard contacted Dave about a week ago (and he has posted since then). He said he is busy with little league.
Thanks for your input Primrose.
I have recieved dried plants too but for the most part I am satisfied with Bluestn. The peanuts packing is a hassthe.
Where else do you recomend Victor?
Yes, I did not even get into the silly peanuts thing. For perennials I generally buy from Garden Crossings and Deer Resistant Plants. GC is expensive, but you get big healthy plants and great customer service. And they do run specials later in the spring and in the fall. For specific plants, I do go to other places. Oakes for daylilies, etc.
Thanks I do have GC in my Favorits and will give them a check out. I like the way Bluestone has the picture layout of the plants and the culture info.
Some of the nurseries online only have the names of plants, that assumes you know what you want. I am a grazer shopper unles I see something on a DG post that looks good like most of your garden and Pirls and etc.
I love Bluestones advanced plant search, they do take back the peanuts and they send you a free s&h voucher. I use the peanuts in the bottom of my containers so they're lighter and you can use less soil. I can understand about the smaller plants and critters getting them. Any of the plants that the rodents don't like are doing great. In just a year they are really taking off.
Oh, I agree, Bluestone has a great layout format for their catalog and website. I studied them to learn about more and more perennials. Yep, they're really great about that.
Bluestone used to have 3 plants for about $5 and they were mostly 1/3 off.Customer service was great if you caught a bad plant or even if it died 2 years later. Now the listed prices have doubled. The discount is smaller and less frequent and customer service has gone downhill. They seem to have dropped the lifetime plant guarantee.
I'm here!
I wonder if they changed ownership or management.
Hi Dave!
Hi Harper!
I just compared Achllia between Blueston and Gardn Crossings and it's a toss as far as price is concerned.
Bluestone sends a three pack of small plants ( theones I put in late April are sturdy and doing well) for $13.00
Garden Crossing has Achllia one plant in a 5.5" pot for $14.00. All things considered it looks like a toss.
I also keep some od the peanuts to add to containers.
I will give GC a try next season or maybe for the fall sale to fill out whats needed.
Sparse gardens are comming along nicely. All three gardens have new plants so we will see what kind of room I will need when they have one season under their belts.
We missed you Dave. Glad to 'see' you again. May is such a busy month, isn't it?
Hi Dave!! Glad to have you back!
I just don't get why they still use the peanuts at all. So many other options. I would only use them to lighten pots for annuals. I made the mistake of using them with perennials years back and when I had to re-pot / divide, the roots were all tangled in it. And their use in containers does not improve drainage. Many people still believe that. Same for gravel, chards, etc.
Whats left for drainage?
