Water Cooler - 7

Anyone growing basil? Please pass some through the comp. I dont have any and cant go out.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Here you go... i have lots of sweet basil seedlings and a few red basil too.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Can I send you organic basil thru the internet??
I'll try

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Ha.
Celeste, here is the lovely Notahoya blooming yesterday. i really do like it more than the pictures of Ahoya - it still goes with my Modred, but in reverse, and it is not so spidery. You picked better than i did, it seems!
Any ideas on what it is? (To me it looks paler than it appears this picture, with the red parts a more soft burgundy...)

Amy..looks like 'Bonanza"......SORRY!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

No, sincerely - i really like it better! Funny how these things work out sometimes...

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

And, according to PF Bonanza is a rebloomer, and Ahoya is not, so i really think i got the better end of the deal here. and it will look perfect between Happy Returns and Sir Modred when he wakes up.
(Here he is on July 4 last year...)

Amy! tou seem to have the skinny on DL's.
I planted Shady Lady last year and it is blooming this year BUT the blooms are on stems that are only a few inches long, not even above the leaves.
What gives?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Ah, Celeste is the expert on daylilies. i know nothing, except what i learn here and from PF...

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

And here is "Baby Tiger Paws" (my 2nd pixielily to bloom) on 6/15:

Thank goodness that is indeed "Baby Tiger Paws"!

Plastic peanuts can sometimes be recyled through UPS company stores, if you are near them.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

hahaha. Ít is indeed - and the picture is about actual size...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yup...thats why "Baby" is in it's name! LOL I love little mini flowers!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Me too - you also sent me "Little Cadet" - i'm looking forward to seeing it in action. On the larger side, "Fire Tree" looks like it's getting ready too. There are no pictures of that one in PF...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

So you can be the first to add it!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Celeste, all of the DL's you gave me are looking really good. None blooming yet, but it has been so cool here. My stellas have lots of buds and the 200-year-old ditch daylilies that we rescued from an old cellar hole in the woods have bloom spikes, but they are always on the early end. I think of you every time I walk into my garden since I put them all along the new black metal fence I have at the house end of my veggie garden.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

mellymass - thanks for sharing your experience with your neighbour. I have lots of plants that I have started and thought I would send out into the neighbourhood, inspiring people to start tending their gardens. Now I realize how upset I would be to find the plants just abandoned.

I will bring my extras to the RU

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Ladies and gentlemen, i give you the latest pixielily to bloom, "Fire Tree".

and now she knows why it's called 'Fire Tree' LOL

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Very nice Amy!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

That is a stunner!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, WOW! I want one of those!!!! It's a knockout!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Wow!!
That's a keeper pixielily!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

It is extraordinary! And the flowers are quite big - at least to me! i have another bloom today. The foliage in the pictures is mostly from a "Happy Returns" next to "Fire Tree", which is blooming on a scape that leans way out in front of the plant. But it feels very sturdy, not like it needs to be staked - and there are lots more buds.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I also have a 'Happy Returns', but it doesn't have scapes yet. Lucky you!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i meant the "Fire Tree" is leaning, so it looks like part of "Happy Returns". Though they have scapes too.
o we HAVE "Happy Returns". The landlords bought like 8 of them 2 years ago. Also some mums. Almost all yellow mums.
i bought a Sir Modred (pre DG) because i thought it would go with the "HR"s, boy was i surprised. Last year i bought an "Always Afternoon" which seemed a more reasonable choice. Then Celeste posted something about DLs for postage, and that's how i got everything else! All credit belongs to her, i just stuck them in the ground...
i know nothing about DLs, but i know "Fire Tree" sure is pretty.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm so happy you like it Amy and it is obviously happy in it's new home!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Ooooo, I love it!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Next in the array of pixielilies™, "Little Cadet", another small bloomer, but with taller scapes than "Baby Tiger Paws"...

Amy:

'pixielilies™', I love it! How marvelous to trademark our beloved pixie!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow Amy...little Cadet must be very happy in it's new home too as the colors are as vibrant as they always were. It also is the opposite of Fire Tree....colors were turned inside out so to speak!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

BTW.... I kinda like that TM! LOL

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i think you should use it! There must be zillions of lovely pixielilies™ all over the NE by now
"Little Cadet" is right in front of "Bonanza" which looks really great too!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I agree with you, Amy. We should TM pixie's lovelies!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

How do you make the mini-TM?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

It is in the character map on your computer which i think is in the control panel. (Some people have shortcuts but they don't work for me.)
This is also how one can make: ©, ½, °, ®, ☺, ♫, ♥ and many other shapes, and also foreign alphabets...

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Oh, I have a Mac. Does it work with these?
