They breed in DC.

Given the choice between chocolate chip cookies and ice cream, which would you choose?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ice cream with a chocolate spoon. (grin)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's the spirit!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ice cream all the way!! My one weakness. LOVE the stuff.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!!!!
I am addicted, especially in the summer.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

The best is Edy's Girl Scout cookie thin mint, I can eat the entire carton!
We have a wonderful ice cream palor about 1 mile away that makes their own, YUM!!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I have a list that is determined by the time of year and my mood.
I like Edys even better than Ben and Jerry's( I named my tabby cat brothers after that brand)
Summer rainy day, TV movie with HUNKS in gladiatoe skirts - - has to be some kind of caramel or butterscotch with a hint of heath bar.
Winter depression -- Chocolat swirrl with marshmellow and I add Cashews just to boost the fat.
I don't eat icecream in the spring_--- dieting the winter and former summers fat off.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm watching my figure...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Just thought of another combination for rainy day.
Edy's Buttersotch Swirl w/ cinnamon toasted walnuts
and "The Guns of Navarone"
Love Gregory Peck

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

How about New York Super Fudge Chunk and An American President, Michael Douglas and Annette Benning.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I second NY Super Fudge Chunk and Gregory Peck, but make it To Kill a Mockingbird

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I have such a hard time with To Kill a Mockingbird.
Scout was my life, and the nostalgia buildup is overwhelming.
Harper Lee's friendship with Truman Capote was magical, too bad it's her one and only novel.
The following are images I opened this AM, hope the link works and everyone enjoys the day.
It didn't work. It's an email not a website.
I need help to post it.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It is amazing how she wrote one great book and stopped! What a father, what a man, Atticus was.

Sorry that I can't give tech support.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I understand the book was autobio.
Didn't we all have a Boo Radley in our lives?
My major males were my Grandfather and my father, they seem like Atticus in my memory.
Life was much simpler then.
I'll try to get Victor to help w/the images mail.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the one hit wonder authors always intrigued me. Like Margaret Mitchell.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

John Kennedy Toole, "Confederacy of Dunces". Brilliant. Won a Pulitzer. He killed himself before the book was ever published. His mother found the manuscript and took it to a reluctant publisher. He was only in his early thirties.

A little off topic but has anyone seen this article on REUTERS Oddly Enough? Kinda funny...

"Sexy orchids do more than embarrass wasps?"

Very interesting! Inflatable orchids?? Better watch the stinger...

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

Hahah Victor!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh my!
I never realized that floral nature would do that to the poor, unsuspecting wasp.
It just goes to show you what a sheltered life I have led.

I am lost. Is this some kind of joke or something? What wasp?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

How do people find the time to research this stuff??? and just to find that the wasp finally stops doing it, at least he's not THAT dumb.

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

Sherrie,

You have to click on the REUTERS link above and it will take you to the story.

Jen,

You know I was wondering the same thing. That would be some kind of job to talk about to your friends. Hey guys! You wont believe what I learned about the male wasp today!

DH sent me that link, too. Will wonders never cease, DG and DH acting the same way!

So David, when we're at Kassia's, you wanna sneak out for some NYSFC? I used to make chocolate hot fudge sauce AND whipped cream to go on top of it, but was finally persuaded that it detracted from the raw chocolaty goodness of the ice cream. But a few bites of that stuff last me a long time. There's an ice cream place very near here called "Dairy Freeze" that makes the usual soft-serve chocolate dip with sprinkles summer stuff, but they also serve a hard ice cream that is about twice the normal limit of butterfat per ounce. My favorite flavor is mocha chip, which should be called mocha slab - it has virtual slabs of chocolate in there with the ice cream. But again, it is so rich, half a serving would be enough. Maybe I'll bring a gallon of that to Kassia's on the 28, if I can figure out a way to get it there without it all melting. (Cooler lined with frozen packs like the kind they deliver - hmm I dunno but I have a bunch in the freezer!)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

mmmmmm ....
chocolate!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Those wasps aren't the first guys to think they were hooking-up with a female! (L_O_L_A- Lola)

Sounds good to me Carrie. Plus I may get to eat my serving and half of yours!
