Excellent, Susan....glad you're making it up!!!
DC area - Spring Swap, May 24th
Ok have been looking at what I could bring for you ladies...
I have Easter Egg plants, I also have some little red geraniums, I can bring cuttings of my begonia's , I could bring some cuttings from my passion flowers if they grow a bit more and they should in a months time... Also is there anyone here coming to the swap that I said I would give a plumeria to? I know I have 3 people from another group but was not sure if someone here was suppose to get one... I am going to have to start selling some as I have WAY to many.... Is the story of my life..LOLOL Oh we are also moving the hibuscus bushes so I will have shoots of them I can put in pots and bring.. They are pink... If my six yellow butterfly bushes live until the end of May I already promised 2 to a person but I could give one more away... Now mind you these are TINY..... but they grow pretty fast.. I also have a LARGE pothos that needs a new home...
So let me know if these are good things and if anyone would want any....
Hugs,
Susan
Seeing Susan's list sure is making it tempting to get in the car for two weekends in a row and head north. I might be someone who decides on Saturday morning whether I will come or not. Oh well, sometimes that is when people have the best times.
Sure do miss you folks though.
Ruby
Ruby,
I hope you do decide to come as I would love to see you.... I am coming because my friend will drive... I am not good with direction and she is wonderful... I have to talk with her still to tell her Kevin is going to try to get that weekend off and her husband Brian would come also..... I am so happy my new friend loves to drive...LOLOLOL

Pennefeather, could I have some? Apparently it likes dry, rocky soil. That have plenty of that. LOL
Hart,
Absolutely. They just need transportation.
Hart -- Are you coming to the swap?
Penne -- Are you not coming to the swap? I might be able to swing by your house on the way and pick up you and/or plants, but I'll be late (leaving DC around 1:30pm).
Actually, I don't know what hours Becky and Chantell have in mind.
I'm planning to be there. With bells on. :>)
Ok. Half the equation is in place. What about you, Pennefeather?
Good question, happy...I don't want to guess for her...neither of us are early risers ^_^ - so I'll wait for her lead on this one.
Happy,
I'm not going to be there. That's why I was trying to find out if anyone could take these plants for the swap.
Ok, well it doesn't look as if you are far off-route, so I can probably stop to pick them up for Hart, depending on when the swap starts. It would be somewhere between 2 and 3 most likely.
Oh I am so happy that I will get to see you all again.... YEAHHHHHHH Now mind you I will more then likely forget all of your names as I am brain dead...
Hugs,
susan
ps Hart I will always remember you as you were my first swap and you were sooooo nice to me.... :-)
Hart is so nice to everyone. She and a couple of others on here kind of took me by the hand when I first came here and helped guide me through a few tough months. This group has become very dear to my heart.
I was so very impressed at Hart's swap because of the kindness and spirit of giving with the whole bunch. I have never met so many giving types in one setting. It helped restore my faith in mankind.
Each of you are very special.
Ruby
hart- your white lilac baby and the patch of heirloom irises are looking great, getting buds on the iris
Awwww, who could not be nice to you all. You;re all such sweetie pies. And Ruby, like a lady on Gardener's Diary said the other day, gardeners are people who like to share.
Sally, I'm so glad your plants are doing well. I keep hoping my dark purple lilac will start sending up sprouts but not yet. Maybe next year.
I've had such a thrill seeing everything from last year coming up this spring. Sally, the pink daffs you brought me are blooming right now and are so pretty. As I said in another post, the mayapples are up and the hostas and lilies of the valley you gave me Ruby.
I started a new bed under one of the black walnuts with those and everything is doing very well.
The yellow corydalis has been pretty all winter and is now blooming. I love that plant! And the chrysanthemum pacificum from Gita has spread! I tucked a couple of those in some pretty dry spots and they are thriving.
Everything is doing great in my garden too! I think of everyone everytime I see something new come up that I brought home last year. All my hostas are coming up from Happy, Ruby and Brent. The solomon's seal and even the little Sweet Kate Spiderwort Happy gave me is coming up. Still waiting on Sally's and Holly's sensitive fern. And Gita's pregnant onion is taking over my laundry room. Need to get that baby repotted and outside.
And here's one of my new favorite plants I got from Happy. I'm absolutely delighted by the Wood Poppy.
I'm so glad you like the wood poppy. I love them. They make very nice colonies, and the foliage stays pretty, pretty much all season. I have more if anyone wants some . . ..

Happy, could I have some wood poppies please? The one you gave me last year is what I managed to kill. I have no idea how I managed to post this in the wrong thread before.
Of course!
just want to share this funny post from another thread.

Happy,
If I make it can I have one also if you have enough? Pretty please...
Susan
Well I'm finally able to catch up on a few threads and I'm so envious that all of you will be getting together on the 24th - without me!!! Last show of the year that day in Harrisonburg but still hoping that some of you will be able to come to Lexington the next weekend? Even though all the great plans for my projects have been put on hold, I'm hoping the gardens will be weeded and looking good by then at least. One of these years when I'm able to retire??? I'll be attending EVERY swap :)) I love what I do, but I miss out on so much! I'll be following along regardless to share your enthusiasm and of course, I'll want pictures of all the fun after the swap!
Debbie
Absolutely. So wood poppies for:
Hart
Miata
Susan
I think I promised them to some other people, but I've forgotten. I will go back and check the posts, but if you know who you are, please speak up.
Chantell,
I'm coming up with Susan51 and I was wondering if you would save me some of your Japanese Maple seedlings?
If anybody is interested I can bring:
Purple shamrocks (Oxalis regnelli atropurpurea)
Selenocerus grandiflorus - a night blooming cactus
Small Jade plant
rat tail cactus
Willow Oak Seedlings
And possibly these if I can root them:
Hatiora (dancing bones)
Mandevillia "Red riding hood"
Chinese Chestnut tree
Euphorbia Ferox
Trailing Rosemary
Greek Oregano
Thyme
Sage
I'm glad you're coming, DragonFly!
dragonfly53 - ditto, so glad you're coming. IF you like cacti (was looking at your list...LOL) I'm happy to send both you and Susan home with plenty...long as it stays alive for me where I tossed it - this rain is killing me!! Be happy to dig those baby trees up..they're just tiny guys.
Yep, Chantell, I do like cactus, especially outside ones. How come you tossed it?
I like tiny trees, I seem to have more luck in htis heavy clay with plugs and such than with bigger trees and plants! If anyone has weeping willows to give away, I would be happy to take them too!
I had a whole cacti patch out front...but my DGD lives with me and is turning 1 this week. First time she was toddling along on the sidewalk and almost fell into one of them....well I decided I didn't NEED them that bad. So 99% got pulled - PP's/Chollas...not sure what if any else. Some of it's already spoken for by Karen (if I only have one) but the rest ya'll can split up.
I could root you some corkscrew willow. I also have a couple of nice little wild black cherry tree seedings. They're very pretty, fast growing trees. Beautiful blooms right about now but the cherries are small. The birds love them. I could bring you some hybrid poplar cuttings - you just stick those in the ground. That's another very fast grower. I have some box elder seedlings too. They also make a nice sized tree fast.
Wonderful to see that you are coming to the swap Dragon. I am going to try, but was just reminded of Debbie's Open House on May 31st and June 1st. I had wanted to do that too, but now see that is three weekends in a row that I would be traveling if I decide to do all three. Decisions, decisions.
I will hate having to miss another swap, but it may be in the cards. Of course hopefully there will be a fall swap and I won't be having surgery then.
I will have to be like Debbie, there in spirit.
Ruby
Hart, Sure thanks! I will take anything. I'm trying to get some more shade here, make the area around the pond look prettier and crowd out the sweet gums and prickly vines.
Ruby,
Gee I am sorry you can't make it but I understand, it's a lot of travelling to do in order to hit all 3 weekends festivities! Next time!
I'll bring you a bunch. If anyone else wants some, let me know.
Ruby!!! I sure hope you can come. What surgery?
yeah, that's what I was thinking - surgery?!?!
Alrightey then - I am baaaaaaaaaaaaaack - lemme see here - I like the "title" suggested - whatever y'all wanna bring for foods is fine - ethnic or not - and please, please bring on the Brie! :-) I like the appetizer idea - I'll be ordering some trays from Teeters - fruits and sammiches - I know I'll have a pop-up tent - plenty of chairs - need a couple of tables - and I'll have a huge cooler for ice and drinks - I'll provide plates & silverwear and "needed" decorations :-) Y'all are welcome to stay as long and late as you want - hubby and friend will be kicked out of the house - and bring friends - the more the merrier!
Chantell is 150% correct - neither one of us are "early birds" - does noonish sound good - for those who wanna come early there are about 3 nurseries within 3-5 miles of my house - please d-mail me for directions to my house and address!
So, I just came back from a 2000 mile "walkabout" in the "American Heartland" - I drove the southern route to southern Illinois - about 30 miles from Paducah, KY - beautiful trip - and when they say southern Illinois - they mean it - I spent 5 days there, and then headed to northern Illinois - around Decatur - flat, flat and more flat - the hills of VA looks more like mountains now!! On Monday I headed to Columbus, OH, met DH's cousin for dinner, I was going to stay over night there - but, finding a hotel that would let me stay with Bandit - my little driving buddy - was a bust - so, in the moonlight and no traffic I headed homewards - used Mapquest and that is SO not a good idea, took me over the continental divide - I had no idea MD had 3000 ft elevations - needless to say I swore a bit as the car was chugging its way up the inclines - still in the moonlight and thankfully no traffic! :-) Got home around 7.30 AM this morning - tired and wore out - got a good nap and had to get to work immediately :-)
Now I am slowly getting caught up on work and tomorrow it'll be house and plants :-)
Get some rest! Whew! I'm exhausted just reading about it!
Becky's back! Sounds like a pretty hair raising drive back. Noonish sounds great.
Hey, y'all, please check out the crazy idea for the swap thread and see if you're interested. Hellebores, fancy brunneras, pulmonarias, way cheap.
