welcome Lynn!
DG Names.....What's your real name??
I AM Tommy. Tom to some, Tommy to others.
Gracias! Ha, ha!
Hi Tom! I was at Adam's today. Lots of great things. - Lynn
Welcome Theresa! Hi Tommy!
Tommy, what do you think of Marist College, right in your neighborhood? My daughter wants to go see it next week, any good or bad pointers? Clemen
Welcome Lynn and Tommy. Great to have you with us! Eleanor
Welcome Theresa and Tommy! Glad to have you with us.
Hi Lynn , Hi Tommy....Welcome to the Northeast Forum !!
Welcome Nanegoat66 to the Northeast forum and Maine!!!!!!
You picked some great days to be here in Maine....it has been beautiful! I'm sure Orono has a little bit of snow left as it is farther North then I am, but a very pretty area. Aroostook County huh? Gonna grow potatoes?? LOL It's very pretty there, lots of farmland thats for sure and very peaceful!
Clemen,
Yes, Marist is nearby. LOTS of dorms for the kids, they're killing us tax wise here. 80% of our fire district is tax free so we are getting HAMMERED tax wise. As far as pointers go I have none, it's supposed to be a great college. Small mall across the street. Careful on Rt.9 near there, very busy. Be careful walking across 9.
Welcome nanegoat!
My son may be picking up some work in the health office at Marist, Clemen. He says the view of the Hudson is spectacular! If you have time, you should head north on Rt. 9 and see Roosevelt's mansion, the Vanderbilt mansion and/or the Culinary Institute. Tommy is right, be careful if you are crossing Rt.9 and the traffic in that area can be a bit crazy. But it's supposed to be a good school. Besides it and the Culinary, there is also Vassar College in the Arlington section of Poughkeepsie. Even if your daughter isn't planning on Vassar, it's a beautiful campus and area and well worth a stop to see it! - Lynn
I'm gonna eat potatoes and garden and photograph birds. Sure wish this housing market would pick up.
I (the great RE guru, of course, ha ha ha) figger if you sell at a depressed price, you'll also buy at an equally depressed price, no? At least that's what we did. Everything was depressed 30% when we sold the old house and bought this one. So we lost a bundle selling the old house but made a theoretical bundle buying this house. Plus, we've been living here for a loooong time - nearly 15 years. It feels like a long time.
I guess what I'm saying is if the housing market picks up, what you're buying becomes more expensive too. xx, Carrie
Great way of looking at it Carrie. I would rather be making that monthly payment on a place in Caribou than here, so you are right! Time to dump and run(skip).
Well, don't quote me to your accountant. xx, Carrie
Like Lynn, I just noticed this thread. My name is Marilyn, but please stick to ROBIN or ROBINDOG ---he is my rescued airedale--psychotic due to abuse & neglect before we adopted him, & I just don't want anyone to forget him. Both my DH & I have had airedales, & we know how funny they can be--at age 5, he is just starting to trust us & have some good times. My other rescue is a GSP mix & a doll, so all rescues are different. I live in the Litchfield Hills of CT & have been gardening all my life--my earliest memories are of walking with my Gram in her garden.
Robin it is!
Hi Robin! How did we miss this? I grew up with gardens and one of the plants I especially remember is the huge Bleeding Heart in my grandmothers garden.
- Lynn
Do you grow them now, Lynn?
I used to have a large one right outside my front door - it was amazing. I had to remove it when it impeded getting in and out of the house, and never grew another. I should consider putting one back near the woods. Does anyone know whether they are deer resistant?
Deer usually don't eat Bleeding Heart.
Great! I do love them and that's about the only place where I have semi-shade. The deer lurk back there just waiting for hors d'oeuvres.
LOL deer hors d'oeuvres! xx, Carrie
is it Robin or ROBIN?

Is it amy or Amy? xx, Carrie
Is it carrie or Carrie? Are those "xx" kisses or do they mark the spot?
I know someone's real name is Robin, so if it is capitalized, I know it's me--or the dale! But anything is OK. Lynn, my Gram had a huge bleeding heart & my sister would pull the blossoms & turn them so they looked like a lady in a bathtub--she always was a vandal--my Gram used to yell at her, but since I was the baby, I guess I was spoiled--a little--by my Gram, anyway. I have 3 bleeding hearts--fern-leaved pink, regular pink, & white--I'd like to try the variegated leaved one to brighten up the shade--anyone have it?
Funny you should say that about your sister, ROBIN. My aunt used to take the flowers off my grandmother's plant and show me rabbits and an open heart and something else (I can't remember what, now). I don't know if my grandmother ever knew she was pulling off her flowers!
Can't help with finding the variegated form, though. - Lynn
Carrie always signs her name Carrie, it's only her member name that is lower case.
But i am always just amy...
When I sign my art work, it is debi, otherwise it's Debi and sometimes it's Debbie!
Hi everybody!
My name is Ursula, but the name was already taken when I joined, so I used my initials. I hang out mostly on the Orchid Forum, but I do lurk on this one and a few others.
Hi Ursula! Welcome and please feel free to jump in anytime!
Ursula! Can you believe they took me in here? Got a great basket idea from you. Must send photo.
Laurel
P.S Awesome Enc. cordigera in bloom here.

This "Maypoplaurel" chick sounds like a keeper! Anyone who names a room in their house after Beaver Cleaver is right on !
