13 pregnancies and 4 kids? Your poor mother. That stuff can be really hard. xxx, Carrie
DG Names.....What's your real name??
I'm the "baby" and was born right before her 43rd birthday.
I have 8 brothers and sisters, and my mom had at least 2 miscarriages. Love a big family. So, why did I stop at one?
On another note, as it were, Johann Sebastian Bach, who wasn't Catholic, had 21 children. There were two different wives, however, and not at the same time, either.
xx, Carrie
My mom was the baby too. My grandmother was 41, I believe.
This thread is now unstuck!! The list is posted at this link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/837873/ and it is a sticky. It is just for the list of names and not for messages. You can post messages about the names here or d-mail me. I will try to keep it up-dated. Remember your real name doesn't have to be listed if you prefer not to have it posted. Eleanor
p.s. I'm been trying to sell your names for a million dollars but no one seems to want a list of first names. Maybe I should lower the price!! I'm just kidding, your names are safe on my list!!! I won't tell anyone on other forums that carrielamont is really Carrie!!!
Being Catholic, and coming from a family of 7 kids, we weren't considered a "big" family . I went to school with lots of kids from families with 10 and upward. Of course, the cost of living wasn't as high then, either.
Same here....the Grenier family had 18 kids...Aunts & Uncles were in the same grade as niece's and nephews!!
My sister has a niece who is older than she is.
Thank you, Eleanor!
Yes, same with my mom - nieces and nephews older than her. I have first cousins in their 70's!
The first cousin I was closest to, and who was my Godmother, would have been 88 this year.
I am a first: first child, grandchild, great-grandchild and niece. Does this mean some day I will be the matriarch? Such a burden!
A burden indeed...but it does come with a LOT of influence !
I am the queen-to-be if not the queen bee!
I'm the middle child and irreparably traumatized...
The queen-to -be says it all works out in the end, Victor!
Me too, Victor !
How was your golf game ?
Lynn, I don't plan on being a matriarch. I'm going for Queen. Someone has to be queen of the family. Isn't that what happens when you get promoted from princess? I was an only child/princess until I was fifteen. Then the second in line, the other princess, arrived. My mother was 45 at the time. I must be next in line for the throne and since we observe matriarchal lineage in our family, my DPD (Dear Princess Daughter) will ascend the throne. As it should be.
Oh Victor, that makes you a people pleaser, yes?
Laurel, we queens must stick together. When my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother (13 years younger than moi), I prayed the baby would be male. I got my wish, thus keeping me the sole princess. My family is patriarchal (?) but I am the oldest and that trumps all. Vive la reine! P.S. - I had sons.
Haven't yet figured out what it made me. Golf is not for me, Mike. No fights.
Try Little League....they always have good fights...usually between the parents !
I golfed both Friday and Monday - I enjoy it. It took getting better to really enjoy it though. Actually I'm not that good.
Deb, you are a better golfer than anyone I know.
xx, Carrie

Shock - an 'unkind' remark by Carrie! Can't leave out insulting or offensive. The 'old biddies' can speak for themselves but I will speak for myself. Carrie, I am beyond sick of your garbage. Please do not respond to any post of mine and do not mention me in any post. I don't care to see any non-apologies or any other explanations. You're proof that one can ruin it for all.
Calling the women who post here "old biddies" is insulting and in extremely bad taste. Not to mention a complete "downer" for a fun thread.
I was including myself, but it's gone.
For all to see:

It's being a people-pleaser that got Victor where he is today - chief rooster to a bunch of old biddies. Ouch, Carrie, that was unkind, Victor is friend to all and steps on no toes (not like me, who tramples on toes before I've even had breakfast).
Deb, you are a better golfer than anyone I know.

This is in addition to just these few that pop into my head: Last Memorial Day she wished everyone 'Happy Dead Soldiers Day'. By the time I contacted admin about that, it was already deleted - apparently I was not the only one offended. She addressed some of these same 'biddies' a few months ago when they were complimenting my new tile that I posted photos of by saying, 'It's just tile, you ninnies!' And of course, we can't forget the 'unkind' remark about books actually existing in KY. As I said, these are just a FEW that immediately came to mind. I'm thoroughly disgusted right now and seething so I will stop.
Gee, this was such a fun thread. What happened?

okay- we're talking about real names here, so I have a question. Is anyone here part of the aboriginal origin? In other words, do you know if your name is native to your ethnic origin?? I have always been interested in this, and I do recall seeing someone from Mass. post that is the real deal. But, the rest of us may have aboriginal origins from Europe, Canada, Aussie, etc. ???
Edited for bad grammar ;)

Hi, I'm still Laurel. I've left Atlanta and moved to Maypop. Spent the afternoon planting heirloom tomatoes. Speaking of names, love those heirloom names...Amish paste, Arkansas Traveler, Boxcar Willie. I've got yellow pears that I saved seed from last year. Wanted one called 'Mortgage Lifter', but my DG source dried up on me.
Regarding the people pleaser comment, there have been studies that loosely define the three child family as the first being the over achiever, the second being the people pleaser, and the last being the clown. The first is the one with the angst, stress and insecurities. The second is usually the best adjusted. A team player, moderator and fence mender (surprise here). The third is the one that you're always getting called to the principal's office on. The prankster, the underachiever, the one most likely to experiment with the wrong stuff. I always thought that, although a broad generalization, it fit with our three kids. There are ways to adjust for fewer or more kids in these studies. Anyway, just a point of interest as the middle is usually most likely to be a humanist.
Laurel
If Carrie's term is over, I bid to be chief biddie.
Laurel, which were you?
I don't want to be a biddie, I'm still thinking I'm a young chick!
I could be a young chick if arthritis is allowed.
Ha, ha! Don't I know! I'm still a young(ish) chick no matter what anyone says!
Laurel, I have a few seeds of Mortgage Lifter left if you want them. They are a few years old, I have to tell you. May have other extras of heirlooms if you are interested. Cyndie
I was an only child for fifteen years. Then my artsy, bohemian, career mother got pregnant at forty five. So I became a sister and a mother and a tenth grader all at once. Don't get me wrong, there were some big perks here.
Sounds like a unique, interesting, life!
