Just back in MA from Austin. The pink evening primroses were blooming at the airport. Saw them and Indian Paintbrush in the fields. Many bearded iris had finished bloom, but there were some late ones. The Louisana iris were at peak, like wet of course and habitually bloom after the tall bearded irises.
Spring blooms - Part 3 - What do you see?
IrisMA ~ did you enjoy your trip?
Great trip, the TBs were going past, but the Louisiana irises were doing well. They are late enough so usually not seen during a convention which is set for TB bloom. Also got a chance to see relatives.
Glad to hear all went as planned... pod
Podster, that one is called Brazillian Red Hots. My freebie from Plumeria Gardens! Michelle
Great ~ free plants are wonderful! LOL Is this is? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/159809/
Someone else will have to answer that Podster, but I wanted to tell you and Tracie how jealous I am of your tree frogs! I found one hopping around a cement gas station in 100 degree weather last year. I "rescued" it and brought it to my yard. I've never seen one since!
Today, I have Oak Leaf Hydrangea blooming!
Oops! I missed the new thread. Sorry!
Hi Elphaba ~ not to worry, we are still watching this Part 3 thread. Can you believe how many beautiful flowers, how much variety there is state wide... amazing!
Beautiful photos you have too. I will be interested to know if that is a shell ginger or cardamom or ?
I love the tree frogs when it rains. They will get on the glass door and from inside, I can see the suction cup toes. Really cute.
Purple I love!
Roses ~ Grrrr! LOL
What a pretty photo & a great memory you have!
Are you feeling any better? I am sympathetic although mine is not a cold but an allergy to privet hedges which are rampant here and bloom for about 3 weeks. Hope you are back to better...
Ooohhh ~ I'm jealous! The daylilies are putting on scapes but no blooms in these woods yet. There are buds on the Asiatics though.
Cocoa ~ I think smellin' is my problem. I actually like the way the privet hedge smells so I tend to breath deep. LOL
In your beautiful Iris photo, what is the foliage on the left side of the photo? It appears to be a succulent? I think spikey foliage is a weakness of mine.
Aggiegirl, that's a great noid pink lily! Really vivid pink.:)
Elphaba, I hope you have cardamom ginger there. Cj gave me some at the RU last year and it's coming up after a winter of nothing but neglect. I hope it blooms like that.
Great pictures everybody.
THAT is a gorgeous photo! What pretty plants you have. pod
Stephanie, beautiful! I've always wanted Veronicas, but I don't have any. Maybe they don't grow this far south. I'll have to look them up! Sage is gorgeous too.
Pod, thanks!
Bulb growers, I accidentally dug up a bulb yesterday. I thought it was a bald spot in the bed but actually the bulb was done. Once I accidentally dug it up, I saw that it had some yellow leaves, but the foliage was done. The roots still looked white and healthy. I only half dug it up, so I left it where it was and then I went ahead and planted the pepper plant right next to it. How bad is that? I was thinking that the peppers get thin and ugly in the winter when the bulb will be coming up and then when it gets hot and the bulb dies back, the pepper will take off. Sound OK?
Did any of you get free cucumber seeds (or was it zucchini?) when you ordered seeds from Parks? I threw some in a pot and today I have a bloom!
Stephanie, that sage looks like Salvia nemorosa 'May Night'. How tall is it?
I started a new thread b/c I keep posting to the wrong one! Sorry folks. Here's the new thread.

Bronc-It's not May Night. I have that in the front yard. These blooms are more lavender and the foliage is a different color green. I think it's plain ol' mealy blue sage, but since I didn't plant it, I can't be certain.
