Sorry everyone! The pic I posted was for a plant that I need an ID on. I don't know how I missed that one. This is a pic of the Rasperry Ripple Sage.
Spring blooms - Part 3 - What do you see?
I got these in a trade a few years ago. They didn't bloom where I planted them, so I moved them last year. I thought they were going to be pink lilies... They are definitely not pink (they look blue in the photo, but they're actually a beautiful purple), and I don't know if they are lilies. Are they?? They sort of have an iris-y look to me... But then I don't know a whole lot about either lilies or irises, so I could be wrong. :-) Whatever they turn out to be, I love them! They are spreading, too, so I'll have some to share at the next RU.
They are an Iris...
That's what I thought. Thanks, Mitch! :-)
Tracie, I love your Spanish rose. It kind of looks like my Maggie. This is her only bloom so far and I was shocked this morning to see it. I saw the bud and it looked like it had been completely devoured by something. Half the flower is missing, but it's still pretty and its fragrance is wonderful.
I had to be careful to step around a fire ant hill to take this picture. They are supposed to be one of the best predator bugs around and yet look at this beetle on the rose. What the heck are those ants doing!
Placeinciarita, I didn't even know that there were yellow knock-outs! Gorgeous! I might get one to replace Sunsprite. It's a new one for me. The flowers are huge, clear and fragrant, but the plant has been a magnet for mildew.
I love it! It is so fun to see the different plants that we all grow. I have never seen an Angelonia dressed up in those colors. Snazzy!
I am waiting on my yellow iris to bloom. It doesn't most years but when it does, I forgive it all its' sins. LOL
Tabitha ~ I will watch and see if you get an ID for your lovely lily. I have one that is similar but blooms later. A Crinum I think....
That looks like my hardy amaryllis. Is it a big bulb type thing?
All beautiful pics everyone.. your season is just starting up and ours is winding down..
Dale,so nice to see you posting again with your wonderful always interesting pics .I hope you are keeping well.welcome back!!
Is that noid a small plant? If so it is the Batchlors Button "Blue Boy" - they reseed and will be back year after year for you.
Mitch, it's about 18"-24" tall and about 10" wide.
Carla, I agree! I just got mine in the ground last month and it's already blooming! Extremely vibrant!
Sounds right - what do the leaves look like? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/74201/ - this is the link - no photos saddly... Here is the general one with more info - http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/186/
Thanks Mitch! The wife loves these!
Easy to grow from seed and will always be in my garden with the cosmos and zinnia that I never have had to replant!
broncbuster -- that's an amazing picture of a hummingbird moth! I usually only see them right before dark when it's almost impossible to photograph them and then they are so fast. I've never gotten a photo of one. I'm amazed. That sage is amazing looking too.
This is a bromiliad. Can't remember the name of it. It's been blooming for a bit and I've ignored the poor thing. Just noticed four more shoots. It gets cool black berries on it too. I also left it out all winter with no protection which is pretty cool!
Yep, I had to use the flash. They also love the dianthus. Beautiful bromiliad!!
Linda it's Lapeirousia, a relative of the fressia.
See> http://www.silverhillseeds.co.za/ByCategory.asp you might find out which species.
