Anyone else having a problem?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I still can't get posts on the Ohio forum to load. It's taking several minutes to get a few posts at a time. Sorry.

This thread loads really fast. LOL

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Thumbnails/photos are taking a long time to load.

The picture server ("lion") is a little overloaded, but that should settle down shortly.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Oh my, can't believe I even got in here, I timed out so many times! Come on servers!

North Augusta, ON

I hope it gets fixed soon...I'm having DG withdrawal!!

Just spent 15 minutes trying to get here, still getting the "connection to server was reset while..." message.

I might just have to do house work or something...eeks ^_^

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Yesterday it was all incredibly instantanious...Today it is sooooo slooooow, if I can even get in at all...

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

It's apparently still warming up, hiccuping, hope they'll be purring soon.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

It's slow for me too today, for the first time ever. We all just need to let
Dave get the new servers settled down. It's a big job.

The load on all the servers is now very low (meaning, they are now overworked and are ready to act). Is DG still being slow for anyone at this moment?

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Yes for me. I'm getting a time-out message.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

It's being slow and weird for me. When I click on Skip to New inside a thread it wouldn't take me anywhere....

North Augusta, ON

yesssss!!!!

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

most defintly......... frustrating

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Also, when I post a message it seems like it takes a long time to get back to the home page..

There is a lot of database activity while I'm replicating to a new slave machine, but this shouldn't be a problem.

There are a lot of forums searches going on, though, and this is the big thing that's slowing everything down. I've disabled the forum search engine temporarily until the DB sync is finished. Should be another hour or two until the search is back up.

So, NOW the site should be fast. :)

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

yes, slow again for me too....a good time to get some work done. all will be well soon. we've been through this before and it always ends up better than ever.

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I just got through reading DG's weekly newsletter. I read almost half of the articles before all of the pictures were loaded.

tracks posted while I was writing this, and it took me almost a minute to get back into the thread to see what had been said.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Still slow for me, Dave.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Me too.

Pretty fast for me...

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

It just sped up when I came to this thread after being slow since the above post.

Was having problems so decided to stay out in MY garden for awhile now the site is
Zoom Zoom!

North Augusta, ON

Unbearably slow for me.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Still really slow for me too. I even closed the browser and restarted my computer to make sure my computer wasn't causing my problems...

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Pictures are awfully slow and going back to the previous page is unbearable.

Very strange. Well, I'm looking into it. It's loading decently fast for me. The server is pushing out about 10Mb/s of bandwidth right now, and incredible amount of data being served. It might be that we're completely flooding our pipe and the bandwidth is constricted. Still looking...

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Now I'm having problems just getting forums to load. Couldn't get the Lily forum to load. You need one of those Cray super computers or an IBM Deep Blue. LOL :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Better now.

North Augusta, ON

I was just about to say it's better, then I got the time out trying to get here, soooo...

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'm having trouble today. Restarted Dave's and still a little slow to load pages. Uploading photos is very slow and when in a thread with photos, the photos are really taking a long time to load.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I found it took 24 hours for everything to balance out after plugging in new servers when using RAID

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Maybe it's not DG's computers fault. Maybe something is going on with the internet in general?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I found most of the bugs gone immediately after using Raid.

I think this is a bandwidth issue, not a server issue. I think our ISP is capping our bandwidth at 10Mb/s and I'm on the phone getting that resolved right now.

30,000 people get the DG newsletter each Monday and they are all opening the newsletter at the same time and downloading thousands of pictures per minute. This is what is clogging the ISP right now. Once most of the newsletter openers are finished (after lunch, historically) things will calm down and we'll be back in the comfort zone.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

booooooooooo. LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think it's all the smileys.^_^

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

I can wait for that. Lunch isn't far off and the boooooo was ment for Victorgardener and his RAID/Bug remark. :) LOL Not your explanation of the problem. :)

I thought that was the case. ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Better check the 'sps' spec - smileys per second.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Heh heh, it took me a few seconds of re-reading his remark to get it. :) I really shouldn't have given up caffeine. LOL
