Anyone else having a problem?

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I've had some odd problems tonight.

1. Several times I tried to go from one part of DG to another and got the dreaded "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and/or "Webpage has expired." I had to close out or back up and try again, and then it worked. Most recently was when I completed the original post of this thread.

2. I'm also having trouble accessing Hyperlinks. I click on them and nothing happens.

3. When navigating DG many times I have to click on an area twice in order to access it when normally I only click once.

4. A few times when previewing a post I'd just typed the preview wouldn't load. As a precaution I copied the posts while they were trying to load so I could save what I'd read. In one case the post was lost (thank goodness I'd copied it!) and I had to paste it in and try again. Just now when I tried to preview THIS post it happened again. I copied the post and then clicked on "Preview" a second time and it completed the preview. Weird, huh?

5. In one instance when I accessed a thread there were two posts, both of which should have had a picture: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/830676/ The first post did, but the second didn't. I posted that I could not see the second picture. When the poster replied I again accessed the thread. At that time the first post DIDN'T have a picture and the second one did. While I was typing a reply the picture in the first post magically appeared.

I cannot even begin to hypothesize why these issues are happening. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

Marilyn

I'd love to read your hyperlink, gg3, but see my #2 above. Can't access them.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I have been experiencing this off and on all day. I thought at first it was our computer at work causing it but when I got home it has been happening off and on on two different computers here also.

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Glad to know it's not just ME!...LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes, same symptoms here.

If you look on Daves forum you will see that he is installing new servers. That may explain it.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I've noticed things too with pages timing out before they open..I had been having problems with Internet Explorer (on other sites too, not just here) so I am temporarily using Firefox instead so I wondered if it was just a difference in the browsers, but maybe it's not!

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Could be. He was going to do that yesterday. Things seem to be a little better today.

I wasn't having any problems at all with any other sites or situations, so at least for me I don't think it was IE.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm still having the same issues today, Firefox keeps timing out and then asking me if I want to try loading the page again. It doesn't happen on everything I do here, but about every 3rd or 4th thing that I do that'll happen. And I'm not having problems on other sites, so it does seem to be a DG issue. But since I don't normally use Firefox I don't know if it always does that or if this is unusual.

I'm was timing out on google yesterday, nothing to do with Dave's.

I'm knocking on wood because I'm not having any problems here at all.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I've been having the same problems for the last few days.

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I'm SOOOO glad to know that I'm not alone!

I wasn't able to go to Dallas on Friday per my plan, as it was raining all day and I didn't want my $6,000 servers in the back of my truck in a storm.

I'm leaving in just a few minutes to go to Dallas today. The new servers will be online and serving DG tomorrow and after that every problem should be resolved.

Glad to know it's not my computer! Hope you have a safe trip, Dave. ^_^

I'm in Dallas now, sitting on the floor in front of our rack of servers, typing this message on my laptop. DG is mighty fast when you are directly connected via a ethernet cable!! ^_^

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks, Dave! I look forward to the changes. Have fun installing the new servers!

From one tech nerd to another, meant in a respectful way of course, have a ball! Are you going to tell us what kind so we can lust?

Each server has two quad-core Xeon 64 bit processors.

4 gig memory and 4 SAS SCSI 10K disks in RAID10 configuration. Pretty zippy machine. :-)

More important - do they make coffee??

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

and pour it and massage your feet?! :oD

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Oh Baby!

I'm pleased to say that DG is operating on the new servers now!

Thanks Dave. Weird thing is - it's pretty slow for me right now.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Me too, Victor. It is loading about half the page, then a delay of a few seconds, then it finishes loading. It isn't happening on short threads, but on long ones.

I'm doing a lot of work right now transitioning to the new servers. It'll be a little bit slower during the next hour or so while I finish the transition.

Pictures won't open for me. Very slow at DG.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Slow here too, but long threads aren't loading at all...

Thanks Dave, just read your message about what you're doing today. I'll try again in a couple hours! Thanks for all that you do!

Navarre, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes. Very slow

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Okee dokee, won't bug you until tomorrow, haha. Did you get any sleep, haha?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'd like to have one of those direct ethernet cables about now. LOL

Norfolk, VA

hope this is done soon..........very, very, very slow right now............ :o(

Navarre, FL(Zone 8b)

It's moving fast now!

Greensboro, AL

Me too. Internet Explorer cannot display the web page.

but, I found if I go to another site and enter from there instead of my Home Page I get here.

Challenges are interesting.

Have a good trip Dave!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I've also been having a lot of problems.

Dave i hope all is connecting as you want it to.

Has been driving me crazy, was blaming it on DialUp and that is probably part of the problem.

So anyway as still very slow and won't open pictures, so guess I will go out to the garden.

It should be quick now and remain quick through the day.

Remember also that today is Monday, historically our busiest (and slowest days). This is a good day to break in the servers. :)
