Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt 21

(Zone 7a)

Hosta, which I didn't get a pic of, apparently.

And two roses. The one in the back is St. Patrick. It's by my wall and trellis.

There's one in the front, as well but all roses look the same freshly planted. LOL

Beautiful tulip, Celia. I have not heard of tulips changing colors although I know that hydrangeas do, depending on the type of soil.
I wish I had a forsythia. We had a huge forsythia bush that had lots of "babies" at our other house but I didn't have time to dig any of it up when we moved. We sold our house and moved in 3 weeks time. I was much too busy packing to dig up flowers!!
What color is a St. Patrick rose? Is it a climber? That is one of many which I don't have. (I have about 33 roses altogether). They started out this spring doing just great but then the rains came and kept on coming and several of them got black spot. I had to strip them and then I noticed aphids yesterday on the buds that remained. I sprayed them with insecticidal soap which I mixed up with Dawn liquid and water. It does the trick on the aphids.
Gardening gloves help to keep your nails from breaking. I bought myself a good pair this year. They are rubber or something similar on the fingers and palm and fabric on the top and wrist. It makes it easier to just wash the dirt off them.
It does feel good after a day in the flower beds doesn't it? It's tiring but it is a "good" tired. I love it, too.

(Zone 7a)

It's some sort of virus, if remember correctly, that makes them change color. I have a good pair of gloves, I just forgot to trim my nails before charging outside! LOL

St. Patrick's is a yellow rose with a hint of green. The other I have is Iceberg. Do you have that one? If you do, I would like to see a pic. I planted it in a more shady area of the front. I thought the white would show better there.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I do have an iceberg but just bought it back in March so I haven't been through a blooming season with it. You might be able to find a pic in the plant files.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I haven't had a chance to take pics. I still have tulips that are just opening. One is my Spring Green which was in a different location than I thought. It's my favorite.

Just got home. Met up with Leaflady so she could get her purse back and she wanted to see my house and my grandma's so I took her around and we talked and talked and talked. LOL.

(Zone 7a)

Mau, you and I will have a rose adventure together. That'll be fun.

Amanda, don't worry about when the pics come. When they do, they do.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Yeah, Amanda, we'll wait patiently for the pictures. Glad you had a nice visit with leaflady and that she got her purse back. :o))
Celia: an adventure--what fun! I can hardly wait till my roses start blooming. My climbing Don Juan is loaded with blooms. I took this pic yesterday.

Good morning, everyone. Overcast and rain coming. I can smell it. I really do like that that. Such a spring smell.

Mau, your rose is such a vivid color.

Early to work today. I have to get in to see mom. I haven't been all week. I'm a bad daughter. She's going to scold me.

(Zone 7a)

Boy, I don't feel well today. I came home early and fell asleep on the couch. Darrell's gone to get me some food. Maybe I'll feel better then.

Good night, all.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good afternoon, Celia. I'm a little late getting to this thread today. Sorry you weren't feeling well yesterday--hope you are all better by now. That was some hail storm you had--I hope it didn't damage your roof or any other part of your home or your flowers. It seems like it is just you and me on here these last couple of days. I wonder where everyone is?
Anyway, hugs to whoever is out there!
Mau

I am running around so not on much yet. lol. Today I was gonna do laundry and saw my neighbor out so I went and talked to her. Found out there is a stud colt in the neighborhood now and he has gotten loose at least once so I have to get a halter and lead rope so I can catch him if I see him out again.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning all! Hope all is well with everyone. Did you see your mom, Celia?
Pepper, let us know if you get to catch the stud colt! That should be an adventure--LOL!
Tomorrow morning early (5:30 a.m.) I'll be leaving to join some other DGers from Arkansas to drive to Rita's Nursery (Randolph's in Jackson, TN). We will be meeting up with DGers from Mississippi and Tennessee. We'll shop for sun perennials and then all have lunch together before heading back home. On the way home we are going to stop at Gardens Oyvey which is right on the way. It should be a good day of fun and fellowhip and shopping! I'm looking forward to meeting several of the DGers whom I talk to here on the Mid-South forum.

Today our weather should be nice until possibly this afternoon. Our high should be around 80º and sunny but afternoon and/or p.m. thundershowers are forecast (40% chance). We don't need anymore rain right now!

You girls have a good day!
Hugs to all,
Mau
edited for spelling--lol!

Good morning, everyone.

No, Mau, I didn't get in to see mom but I did talk to her on the phone. She SEEMS fine. The nurses say she sleeps about 7 hours a day now and all night.

I want to help catch that guy, Amanda!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. He hasn't gotten loose yet and I hope he doesn't. I hope to get a chance to go check him and the other horses out but I am gonna wait til I see them out walking before going to visit. They have at least 3 maybe 4 other horses also back there. Only one is old and trained.

(Zone 7a)

There's a feller up the street from us that keeps paints. I'll see if he'll let me get pics.

It was another good day.

Good afternoon, everyone! Two DB just left. We saw two movies, had lunch, irritated my Darrell beyond measure...LOTS of fun!!! LOL(Darrell wasn't irritated, he was laughing, too!) Now we're off to Target to get a laudry basket for the bedroom. We found on we can live with and that goes with the new furniture.

And then to see mom in the morning.

Tomorrow we're going to se how much of that reed we can out of the ground before collapsing! LOL

Have a good day!!!

Got some pics for you all now!!

Beautiful! I especially like the orange tulip. Oh, wait...that's your cat. LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Orange tulips. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Oooo...! Those are pretty, too! I have plans for parrot tulips this year. I love some of the newer colors.

I noticed buds on my irises this morning. I'll get pics of them When they come out.

Have a good night, everyone and have a better tomorrow!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

My irises have a ways to go before bloomimg. It won't be later next month at the earliest.

The orange tulip in the last pic is a Darwin hybrid and the other one is Spring Green.

This pic is a close up of most of my tulips.

Hi everyone. Me thinks me spoke too soon ;( More problems and more additions to my meds. Still tired, but a different kind of tired, a better tired. I can't explain it. Today we take my BIL back over to Moline, IL to get his new glasses. I did get out and beds all cleaned up. Helped of course by my dear sweet husband. Krista fell on the dishwasher door last night and I fear it's broke beyond repair. sigh. complain complain complain ;(

As for tulips changing color? I had some white ones and planted in front of them were some red ones. In 2 or 3 yrs. my red tulips and my white tulips were then red and white tulips. They had marbled. They came up that way for about 3 more yrs. then went back to white with the red in front. I spoke to anybody I felt was in "the know", but they hadn't a clue.

Our weather has been nice...or so the thermometer says. It was in the high 70's the day I worked outside. We're now back to 40's and 50's. I received my order from Prairie Nursery, but it's getting hard to get them acclimated outdoors when it's too cold. Hopefully they live. They're in little plug pots is all.

I also bought a new computer. It runs Windows Vista. This sure is different. Amanda? I no longer have your e-mail addy. Please e-mail me so I can have it again. Please and thank you☺

(Zone 7a)

Hey, Terry! Welcome back! Sad about the dishwasher but happy about the new plants arriving! Is Krista okay?

The tulips are funny. They are a very pretty color. I hope they stay that color. I'll get a better pic later. They've become a beautiful color.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good afternoon, all. Lovely tulips, Amanda, and the pot of mixed plants is nice, too. I am sure it will be lovely once the plants start growing and filling in. Most of my tulips have "done their thing" but I have a few left that are still blooming. However, the most recent rain (this morning) has beat them down somewhat.

I went to Randolph's Nursery in Jackson, TN yesterday with 2 other Arkansas DGers. We met up with about 20 or more DGers who also made the trip from various parts of TN and MS. A good time was had by all. We came home loaded down with plants, some from the nursery and some from other DGers who had brought plants from home and on the way home we stopped at Sheila's house and she dug up more plants for us! Are we obsessed with plants or what?
Here's a pic of part of what I brought home. I think I was most thrilled with my "Hot Lips" Salvia. Also, Celia, I bought two different types of corn plants and I think one of them is that one you found in the catalog some time ago. It's not big enough to be showing the various colors, though. If you can't find one, I will send you one when this one gets big enough to separate.

(Zone 7a)

Woo hoo!!! Like I've said before...You are one special lady!!! LOL Is that a Caladium on the far right? Awesome!

I think I might be able to order the corn plant somewhere but...is that it behind the peony?

I was able toget some pots at work for a buck a piece. They had a sale of items used by our visual dept. I also go two BIG plastic pots, a plastic palm and a plastic ficus. Love it...

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Yes, that is one of those speckled caladiums--I bought two of them. I went out to look and see what the name of it is and it isn't labeled! I couldn't believe it!
and yes, there are two corn plants behind the peony--one is named "jester" and the other one is named "rainbow". However, the taller plant behind the peony with the red and white blooms is the "Hot Lips" Salvia.

Here's another tulip.

Thumbnail by pepper23
Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh, that one's pretty, pepper! does it have a name?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I think it's one of my hybrids from wally world.

The ones I know are named are Spring Green, Gavota, Ballade, West Point, Gudoshnik,,Florette, and Praestans Fusilier. A couple more may be named but I don't have tags so don't know what they would be.

(Zone 7a)

Astilbe coming up nicely. The moss will green up and grow over onto the sidewalk.

Very pretty tulip!

Thumbnail by kwanjin
KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

My astilbe is coming up as well though yours are looking better at this point. I thought I lost mine to the freezes last year but it came back.

(Zone 7a)

Good morning, everyone.

Mom is doing so-so right now. We went Sunday and she only talked for a couple of minutes then went back to sleep.

I was sick all day yesterday and still don't feel up to much today. But I do have to go to work. Yuck...I feel tired.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning, everyone!

So sorry you are feeling poorly, Celia. Glad you got to see your Mom, though, even if she was only able to talk to you for a couple of minutes.
Beautiful weather here, though a little on the cool side--still lots of sunshine which makes it good gardening weather! Pau and I got all the plants put in the ground yesterday. We were tired but it was a "good tired". We have to go get our blood drawn so I'll check in with y'all later.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I finally got all of my marigolds in the ground. They are in bad soil though so I need to get some compost from the store and add to them. I will get rabbit stuff hopefully at the end of the month. Almost all of my current annuals are either in the ground or in big pots now.

Celia, glad you got to see your mom. Seeing her a little is better than not at all. :~) And get to feeling better. Don't overdo it either. That will make it hang around longer.

Mau, our weather was the same. Coolish but nice. Sun was out too so that helped.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

This is the end of the month, pepper! LOL What "rabbit stuff" are you talking about? "Inquiring minds want to know" LOL

We're heading for a high of 80º tomorrow and sunshine. Perfect weather for the "track and field day" at my DGS's school. I'll be there to help out--it's lots of sunscreen and water for me! (and the kids). I won't have time to check in until tomorrow evening. Everyone have a good night and a good day tomorrow!

This is my Sunsprite.

End of May I meant. Rabbit poop from a rabbit farm run by Dave719. Great stuff and can be put on fresh.
