Not sure where everyone is tonight. I wanted to alert people to the fact I start taking a new/different medication tonight. It causes dizziness and drowsiness, so I guess we'll see. Been there done that with both newest meds, not wanting to do it again. I guess I have no choice.
My dad had his cancer surgery redone today. He came thru it well. There was more cancer found in his bladder, it was all removed. He was released from the hospital around 5pm and he and my mom are staying the night in a hotel in Iowa City, they'll be home tomorrow. There was no cancer in any other part of his body found. He starts chemotherapy in 3 weeks, again in Iowa City. Bad news is that once chemo starts, my father loses his private pilot license, which will break his heart.
If I'm not heard from in awhile, you know my new medication is not working too well for my body. I might be passed out in a chair. ☺ Please keep your fingers crossed for me. If at all possible, I might even post some unreadable message..lol
Love and hugs to all,
Terry ♥
Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt 21
i hope it works out well for you - i know that different medications can really wreak havoc on your system. And i hope your dad does well with his treatment...

Thank you Amy. Seems the older I get, the more my body just doesn't bounce back like it used to. ;(
I'm not leaving any other possibility open for my dad. The treatment will work and he soon will be flying in the skies he loves so dearly.
Mau, meant to say that since dad is starting chemo in 3 weeks, I won't be flying down anytime soon with him. John, Krista and I are still planning our yearly vacation in AR late June into early July. I'll let you know the dates when the time is closer.
Oh Mau. Too much to catch up on. I'll read it later. So glad you're okay!!!
Can I pass the pics along to a friend of ours?
Good morning, everyone. Don't have a long time but my Crystal is here. She came in last night and we're off to see her grandma. I've had news that she (grandma) is giving away her worldly possessions. Even the rings off her fingers. Huh. Won't be long, now.
We're going to go to WallyWorld after and then HD and Lowe's for plants. Yippee!
Have a wonderful day!!!
Well, Terry, if you are "out there" and not "out of it" (due to meds) just let me say there is NO CHANCE our builder will do one single thing about the roof. Period-- end of discussion. I would have to write a book in order to tell you that story but some rainy day I may sit down and do just that and email it to you! LOL We hired some guys to replace the shingles which were blown off and they did the job for $150.00 and we considered ourselves lucky. Pau bought the shingles himself. Our insurance deductible is $500.00 so no need to involve them in this thing. Roof is "fixed" and we are happy. Roof has not leaked so far since we moved here. Pau says lots of roofers are leaving off the tar paper nowadays and as long as the shingles are applied properly there shouldn't be any problem. Time will tell.
Sure hope you aren't having problems with the meds. Also hope your dad will do well with his chemo treatments.
Yes, Celia, feel free to send the photos along to your friend. Hope all goes well with the visit to see your mother. Keep us posted about her, please.
We have a beautiful sunshiney afternoon taking place right now. That sun sure looks good and feels good, too. Pau and I did some clean up work in the yard but it is still too wet to do much work in the flowerbeds. I need to get my seedlings planted outside but that will have to wait until next week. Here's a picture of my neighbor's dogwood tree.
Crystal just left and I don't like it!!! I miss her already! She's not coming back until June when we take our vacation. She'll be house-sitting for us and she wants to save her money until then. In the meantime...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank goodness I can talk on the phone to her any time.
LOL. June isn't that far away. It will be here before you know it!!
No, it's not but...I get you. It'll be here before I know it. ☺☺☺
It will be slow at first then next thing you know she will be there. :~)
Thanks, I need support! LOL
She's my only chick.
LOL.
I had to console myself with new plants. Two roses, a juniper and a forsythia.
LOL. I won't get new plants til next week at the RU I am hosting, then end of month when co-op plants come in, first week of May at IA RU, and second week of May when I go to a garden party in southern MO. LOL. I have no idea where I will plant the stuff.
I would LOVE to go to an RU but there's nothing close yet.
The two roses I got will go in the backyard. One is Iceberg and the other is St. Patrick.
There aren't any close by? Then you need to organize one. ^_^
I'm laughing. You have no idea how bad at organizing I am! LOL Maybe I can talk someone else into it? I'm pretty good at that. Heh heh heh...
It doesn't take much. Just provide a yard, a grill and directions and everyone else will take over. You won't even be allowed to cook. That's about all I did for this one and it's a 2-3 day event. lol
Hmm...maybe I'll give it a try.
Good morning, everyone.
It's cloudy and rainy outside today. We got our reed cut down and some of it pulled out so I can, very soon, get my other plants in the ground.
And I dropped my camera!!! The lens doesn't come out smoothly anymore! I have the warrany on it, though. Now I have to find that. I took a couple of test pics and it still works but with that lens not extending properly, that won't last long. Waaaaa...again.
Talk about bad luck!! Sorry to hear about the camera but that warranty will come in handy.
Supposed to be cool and rainy tomorrow but won't know til it hits. Supposed to rain tonight too.
Hi, y'all--just checking in. This will be quick. We took a trip up to NW Arkansas today --drove almost 300 miles round trip. It was a beautiful , beautiful day. However, all that driving made me tired.
Celia, I bought an iceberg rose a couple of months ago along with some others that were on sale. All of the roses we have planted are leafing out really nicely and a couple of them have buds on them already.
I'll post a couple of pics and then I'm off to bed. Talk to you girls tomorrow!
This is one of my lovely daffodils.
Good morning, everyone.
Mau, those are pretty! I've been advised where to put the two roses for the best show. Can't wait till I can get them in the ground.
Love that tulip mau!! Morning to both of you!!
My tulips are budding. Good morning, Marie!
I want tulips !!
My small bunching tulips are blooming and I think some of my regular tulips may have buds on them also. Daffies getting ready to bloom also. Assuming we don't get zapped by a freeze this weekend. Supposed to be 32 on Sat morning and 35 Sunday morning. Will have to wait and see. Chance of snow too. No snow wanted or needed here now!!
NO MORE SNOW!!! Althought I heard, at work, that we are supposed to have more of the icky white stuff. YUCK!!! I guess this is the end of our drought. Now watch, just because I said that, we'll be back to water rationing.
You've been a quiet bunch. I was afraid to come on and not be able to read what everyone is talking about.
I'm still alive, but feel like I'm on drugs. Yes yes, I know I'm on drugs, prescription drugs, that's not what I mean. I feel like I'm on street drugs. Not fun. I do today, start decreasing 1 of the pills I've been on since Jan. I just want my life back to how it was. Isn't going to happen, but I can certainly dream and wish, eh?
My dad is so so. In a lot of pain. He was put on a prescription that I've heard are sold on the street, so I sure don't blame him for not wanting to take it. I don't know how you spell it, but I think it's pronounced oxycotton. What do I know though. If tear drops were wishes, I would of cured him and he wouldn't be going thru any of this.
Now to the good part. You all know how I don't like people being taken advantage of. To show I'm no different for myself, that semi drivers insurance was driving me crazy. I couldn't get a straight answer from that woman if my very life depended on it. John and I drove up to see our sheriff on Mon. Got right in. We told him what had happened and what was going on. He looked the incident report up on his computer and he could tell that nobody had made a request for it, unlike what the insurance lady said---over and over again she told me. He then told us to sit tight, he was going in to speak to the State's Attorney on our behalf and would be back soon. When he came back, he said we could if we wished to pursue it, but what we really needed to do was to get our insurance involved. Our insurance knew and notes made, but it wasn't being turned it because it was supposed to be taken care of by the driver. Paid in full by the driver. I decided to give that insurance lady 1 last chance to tell me the truth of what was going on. She didn't. Same claim as before. First she said she was waiting for the driver and a copy of incident report. When I questioned her on the driver not calling her back, she back tracked as I expected and said no, the incident report. I didn't tell her that I knew she hadn't even made a request for it. So I called the drivers boss. I was on a mission and letting him know. He says over me, I'm going to hang up the phone..I was NOT threatening him or his, so he's going to hang up on me? I stopped. All he wanted was to make sure I had spoke with the correct person at their insurance co. Who else was I going to speak to? I only had her extension. I answered him and then he told me, in his British accent, to carry on then. When he chose to threaten me by hanging up? Insurance lady has been lying to me for what I now know to be a week? That was truly my last straw. They're being idiots over $456.67? I told the "boss" where I was going and I told him I was doing EXACTLY what the Bureau County Sheriff AND our State's attorney told me to do, I was on my way to OUR insurance company and with that, I hung up on him. We went out and spoke with Amanda, who wasn't going to turn it in, but she took every phone number of all people involved with not paying us. Oh, here's a good one. The Sheriff? Told us that the insurance company could come back and assign us 10% responsible for the accident. Why?, you're thinking to yourself? Because we were on the road!! So anyway, Amanda was getting the incident report and she would fax it to the other insurance company. When we returned home from speaking with Amanda, I called once again up to the Sheriff's office and asked once again to a deputy this time, if our incident report has been requested by anyone. No one, but Amanda had and they don't automatically send it, it must be requested. I called the other insurance company. I asked her if she knew that she had to actually REQUEST the incident report, it was NOT something automatically sent to her and I also told her that no one, but our insurance company has ever requested it. I spoke with the Sheriff and I spoke to another deputy, no one except our agent has requested it. She gave me another line about doing it on-line, which I know is a crock. She was making it sound like because we're a very small town, our internet is somehow not up to snuff as hers is. The next morning I called the deputy, Penny (I've known her forever. Her dad retired from my families company as a driver one of the rigs) and I asked if all incident reports have been sent. She said they were. I then called the other insurance company. Well I'll be dipped, but all of a sudden, they're accepting 100% responsibility and would mail me a form. We fill out the form "correctly" and mail it back. Then and only then would she send us the check. I repeated myself yet again and told her the appointment to fix my car was already made. I then asked if she could fax it to me. She did. She said nothing about having it notarized or witnessed, the cover letter says nothing about it either. Right on the form though, it says "Notary signature" and also said "witness signature". So I walked into one of our employees office, whom I know is a notary, and she notarized and signed it. I then took it back out to the other employee who watched us sign to begin with and she put her signature on it. It was then faxed back to her. I called that insurance lady with-in 2 hours and by golly by gumfry, the check is in the mail. John also picked up a copy from Amanda of the incident report. In it, the deputy leaves no other choice but that the semi driver was totally, completely, 100% responsible. We left 65' of skid marks and we then traveled another 79' down the ditch and into the farm houses yard.
So ladies! STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!!! No one else is going to, it has to be done by you. Assert yourself.
Now my head is throbbing from typing this all up, I'm so tired I'm going to fall over and my tummy hurts something awful, so I'm off it sit in my chair.
Terry: "You go, girl!!" or should I say: "You did it, girl!" Okay, so the "check is in the mail"---let us know when you actually get it! LOL Sure hope you get the meds all worked out so you don't feel like you are on street drugs!! So sorry your dad is in so much pain--that's a bummer! :o((
We went to Harrison on Monday and were gone all day. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a drive. We have a house guest who is moving from Colorado to Harrison, Arkansas, and we drove him up there to look around and just "scope out" the place. Harrison is a beautiful little city in the mountains--not mountains like yours, Celia--Harrison is only 1350 feet above sea level but it is a gorgeous little city and great views are to be had everywhere. Pau and I are thinking about moving up there, too.
Celia, that is a great photo above of the night sky. Sorry about the issues with your mom. Did you do the scrapbooking "thing" this past weekend or is that coming up? That daffodil you asked about is called "Gentle Giant". I only planted six of them but I'll be happy to send you one of the bulbs this fall, if you like.
We had more rain last night and this morning but it stopped before noon and the sun is peeking out a little. It's still mostly cloudy, though. :o(( I sure do need to get out in my flowerbeds but it is much too wet to do anything.
Here's a dark purple pansy:
You go Terry!!
FYI everyone: That's not me she's talking about in there. LOL.
Been busy here. I took a hard fall on Monday when I went riding. I dismounted but my boot got stuck on the stirrup (rubber soles) and it went inwards and touched Flassh's stomach. He freaked and took off and while I got my foot out in time to keep from being dragged I lost my balance and went flying backwards and landed pretty hard. I have been sore for the last few days though today was alot better.
We have more rain coming in tonight on top of the rain we got Monday. We are extremely saturated and creeks, ponds and lakes are high. The rain is tonight, tomorrow, then snow/rain on Friday and snow on Saturday.
Our rain is tomorrow and Sat., snow mix on Sat, possibly Sun.
Mau, I will let you know when the check is in my hand. They can't get out of it, since they faxed me the other papers and those are still in my hot little hands LOL
Harrison is only---what? 30 miles from Bull Shoals? Would rather live in Bull Shoals and take a drive down/over to Harrison! It's gotten so big, but the little downtown area is still quite unique and reminds me of here actually. Nice square. When you left Bull Shoals and headed to Flippin, did you notice the views along the highway?
Celia, Mau sure doesn't know what "small town" is!! Come see me and I'll show you small towns, including the one in which we reside ☺ 7550 is the population, no 4 lane roads anywhere to speak of, only 4 stoplights till you're heading to the interstate and run into more because they widened that overpass, but still not into a 4 lane. Why, Main and Peru streets were just made to actually have a designated turn lane! No malls, no strip malls...ahh...I love small town living!! We actually moved up from the other town that we lived in 5 miles from here. Pop there is only 1000.
And now, I've blessed you all with my presence twice today and I must find my chair again.☺
My town is even smaller. Less than 300 people, one gas station, a BBQ place, some industrial places, fireworks store, and some semi sellers. That's it. And it's all spread out in different areas. No downtown, main street is a highway that is a speed trap. Don't speed in my town or you will get caught. Guarantee it. :~)
Terry, Harrison is further than that from Bull Shoals but I'm not sure how much further. Probably an hour's drive. There are great views in all of north central and north west Arkansas. Also, there are advantages and disadvantages to living in a small town. I mainly like the advantages and don't like the disadvantages. LOL (Do I sound like a dumb blonde?)
Pepper: sorry to hear about your fall. I hadn't noticed the "Amanda" in Terry's post about her insurance co., etc. I went back and re-read it when you made the remark about that not being you, then I understood what you meant. LOL
No Mau, Harrison isn't an hour away. You didn't take the shortcut remember? Cutting thru outside of Flippin and bypassing Yellville also? Fer shame fer shame LOL It might be 32 minutes, but in no way is it an hour!
I was talking about another Amanda!! LOL
We're supposed to have high winds, hail and over 2" of rain starting tomorrow. Who knows how much, or how little, we'll actually end up with.
Amanda, pepper, in the town we used to live in, the cop had nothing better to do than to sit on the side of a grain bin, hiding himself. 1 mile over the speed limit and sirens were blaring, lights flashing. Have to say he was a huge improvement from the cop they had YEARS ago who was beaten senseless by some kids and from that time on, wouldn't exit his car. Great cop, eh?
I told you girls they didn't know who they were messing with when they tangled with Terry!!! HA!!! Yes, let us know when/if the check actually comes. I'm just glad you didn't get anyomre hurt. THAT'S the important part.
HA!!! Again, I say. I have you all beat. When I got married the first time in 1978, we lived a little podunk town called Manila. POP: 150. 1 gas station/store/PO, 1 restaurant, 1 tavern. There was another tavern just over the border in Wyoming. Today it's a tourist spot and has boomed like mad. I have no idea what the population is now.
Thanks for the compliments on the picture.
And I was telling another DG friend of mine that I want to jump in my truck and come visit ALL my DG friends, including those absent.
I have friend at work who is from Iran. She left 6 months ago to visit home and family. She came back this last week and brought me a gift. It's a hand-carved wood bowl. The pic does not do it justice.
Way to go Terry!!
Pepper sorry about your fall and thankful you did not get hurt worse. My Dh got thrown off of our horse broke his arm so bad he was in a cast and a soft cast for 6 months!!
Celia what a beautiful bowl!!
Mau I love that pansy!! As for small towns I wish I could live in one. I moved to the outskirts of the city and it has followed me :o(
