Murmur..I think the adventures of Maurice & Bridget will return this weekend. They had travel delay's of one sort or another this week..but it looks like smooth sailing tomorrow! Be on the lookout!
:)
Whats blooming outside your door
Yes Carole, hope does spring eternal, especially on a day like today. Hope you and Steve are doing well today.
Bea ~ I don't mind at all that you saved the picture, which actually does not do the flower justice. The little white stripes on the petals in the picture are actually yellow. She's really quite a stunner. And for your last pic...I LOVE purple! ^_^
outtamygourd..now look what you started. This plant species is so awesome.Check out pacific bulb society web site and all the different scilla. Awesome stuff...

OMG Bea ~ I LOVE the siberica! So blue. Thanks for the link. Now I have to build a bed devoted entirely to scilla! Sheesh!
Found a company that sells both varities of the scillia.Prices seem ok. Must give them a try...

hi guys!!
pretty pics of everyone flowers! one of my FAVORITE rhodies is blooming now called midnight mystic pic.... just love it! im hoping (but maybe not this year) that another kinda rare one i have called black widow will bloom, but might not. this is the link for greer gardens and the bloom on the front is black window. soooooooooo cool!
http://greergardens.com/ weve had the dumbest weather lately. stormed horridly all morning until about noon then cleared up and was sunny....... sigh. ran out between raining and dug up a few baby armeria and carex and started those in some pots for trading.
Beautiful Rhodie ! Yes this weather has been crazy! Warming up again this weekend, then who knows what. Had hail this week the size of peas.Thunder,lightning...my plants are so confused! ;(
Brrrr. It's been cold here, but just the usual drizzle precipitation. Today is supposed to be dry and sunny and so far it looks like that.
This weekend is supposed to be dry. And I'm going to be home. Yippeee!!
HURRAYYY for you!!! ^_^ It's a whoppin' 46 right now. WOOHOO!!!
Susan
So maybe it'll get up to 50 today? Wouldn't that be nice?
Happy May Day, everyone! Don't forget the warm sweater if you're going to be in the garden......(That sounds so wrong for May!!!!)
It's dry here, but there have been some very chilly wind gusts today, currently about 52'.
Feels more like the beginning of April instead of May. It's supposed to be 49 today, hopefully it will jump another degree and hit 50! It's usually in the 60's this time of year. Not going to happen until maaybeee the week-end. In the mean time we're going to wake up to mornings like this while we're irrigating.
Susan
I love it when I get home from work and go out to DRY weather!!!
Later!!!
Carole - That is an awesome picture. Do you mind if I share it with my family? You should post that to the bird watching forum. They'll love it there.
Carole, save that for the contest. that is just awesome. and one in flite. I want your camera. LOL
Tills, I love my camera - it's a Sony, and I've had it for 1 1/2 years. I was sitting on the ground beneath the feeder (which is on my deck) and using a 300 mm lens. Great fun.
Kathy, I'm honored - feel free to share!!
This one was taken at the other end of my deck (a very long, narrow deck) and I was only about 5 feet from it and using the same lens.
I haven't posted on the bird watching forum for a long time due to circumstances at home. I'll get back to them one of these days - I was looking at it tonight and am literally in awe at the fine, fine photography there.
These are incredible. My SIL and her dad are avid hummingbird watchers, but I don't know if they ever get pictures. They will love these!
Murmur, Lovely hummer pictures! Every bit as good as the others in the Bird Watching forum!
Murmur you are so fortunate to have those hummers! I put up a hummingbird feeder but I have not attracted any to it yet. I wonder how long before they notice? We have them around the garden, of course, but I was hoping to attract a larger crowd.
I wish I had a photo of these. I'll take one tomorrow if it's nice out, but my wallflowers are in full bloom after being cut back about a month ago. They are not only beautiful, but their fragrance is amazing. I had no idea they smelled so good. I was standing outside the greenhouse sniffing the air, wondering what the wonderful smell was and realized I was standing by it!
Thanks for all the nice words about the hummer pics!
Pixy, we have Anna Hummingbirds all year long - and one night recently I counted 7 of them buzzing around one feeder, fighting each other off . . . it was amazing! Tonight one hit the window and I was quite distressed, but it was just stunned and took off when I went to check on it.
I had wallflowers at my West Seattle house - they were wonderful!! I'd forgotten until you mentioned them.
Murmer, where did you live in West Seattle and when? I lived there from 1955 until 1960. Down on Beach Drive on Alki and up on 30th and Holden.
We lived up in the Admiral District - a few blocks from the library. DH and his first wife (she passed away early in 1990) bought the house from DH's parents. I moved in with him in late 1991 and we stayed there until 2002 when we moved to Whidbey. It was a darling house, but the taxes kept going up and up, the viaduct was becoming an issue (still is!), and the thought of being in a rural area, with a yard that might be bigger than a postage stamp, was very appealing. So when I lost my downtown Seattle job and DH was getting closer to retirement, we started looking and found our house.
Nice pics gordon, whats the one next to the BH.
That is a butter bur, Petasites variegata. It's a runner from my mil. I have the plant on the other side of the house where it is full sun and growing just the same.
I think Pixs gave me one but I dont think it made it.
how is you neck?

I love the fall then now pics. My first visit was in March and it looked diffrent then too.
If you want some let me know and I have some for you. Grows like a weed, but great leaves! I am meeting Jim next Sat and going to the Naylor Creek Spring sale. Maybe we could meet there, or I could drop it off since I will be on the island. Would be fun to see your place!! Let me know!
