Whats blooming outside your door

Poulsbo, WA

Here's the pink tree.
Any ideas?
The guy who takes care of the maples in garden
sent the photo to University of BC and the specialist
there didn't know what it was either.
I would pay handsomely for a graft! :)

And my friend Celeste lives there now. Sound familiar?

Does someone here own it?

Haven't actually checked the mileage,
but I live close to Ansell.
My DH passed away in January,
but he stopped by the Hilltop 76 everyday for coffee
on his way to take care of the grounds at the yellow house
and matching espresso stand at Four Corners.

Ever see the Pygmy goats there?
Well, they are mine now! The owners gave them
to my husband because he was the only one that the
goats would let pet. He loved those goats like children!
He built the cutest little house for them.

Hi Neo,
Welcome! :) We'd love to have you join us at Dragonfly nursery for our tour and get together, if you're interested.

So sorry to hear about your DH. :( :(

(The goats are adorable, and the goat house is wonderful. )

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Neo ~ my heart goes out to you. So sorry about your DH. Must be horribly difficult. Hopefully you can find joy in the soil and nurturing of new life through your green babies. The goats are awfully adorable as well! Hope to meet you soon!

Poulsbo, WA

susybell, thank you. We were married two years and
he died of a heart attack at 47. He was such a scavenger
and now I am throwing work parties to get it all cleaned up.
Very sweet man who did every thing for me. He is missed.

I will see if I can make it to Dragonfly on Sunday.
It sounds fun and I would like to meet everyone!

The yellow coffee stand is on the same side as the tavern, I can not remember the name, I believe it started with a c that owned it, and She had my dog one time, on one of his outings and called me on her cell phone, I have your dog, he went shopping with me and you can pick him up at the coffee stand, I was blown away, worried where my dog was, but he got I more trouble than you could think, He also went to school, I got a call, I have your dog would you come to and get him out of my car, had to go to the school and get him. God rest his soul Buddy was the best dog I ever had.He was Killed in a car accident in front of four corners.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

And I am sorry for your loss. I lost a husband in 85 its not a happy story. I really know the pain. So Sorry.

Poulsbo, WA

Darlene sold the espresso stand last year,
another reason I have the goats.
The new owner painted the stand a reddish color.
I was disappointed because I always loved that
property with all the matching yellow buildings.
My DH made a birdhouse to match, which
Darlene took with her.

Thanks, Tilly, we had the best two years!
But it does hurt to finally find the man of your dreams,
and have him taken to soon, but I consider myself
blessed to known him and given him my best two years,
and I know he gave me his as well.

My neighbors and friends are all helping to get
things in order so I can enjoy all the fun things
he built around here, like this nice white screen
for the patio. The Fushia basket was my birthday present
last year. It still has green sprouts,
so I am hoping to coax it back to life.

Bea -

Beautiful tulips. I say pick them while you can - the weather is unpredictable.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I use to drive that way every day for 8 years, but they close the store I work in (Sequim), and now I have to commute to Lynnwood. And that was a year ago, hate it.
I have aways wanted a Pigmy, Had a Nubian, but she had a brain tumor and I lost her. Please come with us. we all would just love it.3

Neo, my heart aches for you. My DH is very ill right now and we're not sure of the future as yet. Yours was so young, though.

Tilly, I didn't know you'd lost a husband - please share the story sometime.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Shokami- So sorry to hear that your kitty crossed over the rainbow bridge, they bring so much to our lives. Hang in there.

Neo- Welcome! I love your goat house and your pygmys! When is your doe due? Are you hoping for twins? There is nothing cuter than a pygmy kid, I love to watch them "spring" around! I raised pygmy goats and showed them in 4-H and Open when I was a kid. I haven't had goats since I moved to Olympia three years ago, hope to get some again this summer, I really miss them. Hope you can join us on Sunday. I will dmail you the info right now. Rachel

Kingston, WA

welcome neofarmer. I'm sure you will love everyone here. I love your goats and am thinking of getting a few. I have tried to introduce Jessie Girl to a goat on bainbridge and man did those two want to kill each other. Maybe if I got a couple of babies they would like each other. She loved little scrappy man. I think he smelled like puppy of her breed. If you ever have extra maples and want to sell some I'm here. Hope to see you Sunday. Heidi and Dragonfly

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

hey all...
thanks again for the chin up for kitty. Neo......so sad and so sorry. made me get all teary again. but good memories are priceless. i love what you are doing with everything. cant wait to see it when its done!

you WA peeps have all the fun! there is nothing going on down here.......... boring. no cool nurseries to meet and play in. sigh............. have fun!!

Poulsbo, WA

Murmur, very sorry to hear your husband is ill. They say hindsight is twenty-twenty, but I wish I had been more attuned to his health. He had a heart attack four days after we were married, so I had put him on a healthy diet. When he started gaining weight over the holidays, I just chalked it up to being lenient on all the goodies. He LOVED chocolate! Apparently it was congestive heart failure. I say this just to remind everyone to keep an eye on their beloveds, don't hesitate to call the doctor.

rachierabbit, Olympia, eh. DH's mom and family live there so I am still in contact with them and go down to visit every couple of months. I brought a buck in on December 22, but he didn't show much interest for at least several weeks. Then the doe just ran from him constantly. I rehomed him to a good sized herd in Roy, where he is happily chasing lots of doe girls. I assumed that my doe was not bred, but it "feels" that I am wrong, considering the good hard thumps under my hand.

So it wouldn't be before May 22, but hopefully later. I don't know what I am hoping for! When we decided to breed her, DH was here and he was the stay at home "dad" while I worked in Seattle. I start back to work this summer so goat babies, rabbits and babies, plus two orders of chicks arriving in June are going to be a handful!

I originally wanted to breed her for milk to make goat milk soap. Yeah, right! Like I am going to have time for that. :) I bred her to a kinder goat (half nubian/half pygmy), so the younguns will be mostly Pygmy with a bit of Nubian for better milk. Obviously I am hoping for at least one doe.

cattledogs, thanks for the welcome! You gardens look wonderful! I am looking forward to being there. Hopefully mid afternoon will be ok. Is there a particular time? Save one of the bright blue primulas for me! ;)

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

neofarmer - I sent you a d-mail (and it looks like Rachel did, too). At any rate, for you and for anybody who is going to Dragonfly in the afternoon only:

We're meeting at Dragonfly Farms between noon and 1. Eating whatever we brought for picnic lunches while everyone gathers during that time.

Kathy

Neofarmer, welcome! I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your dear husband so soon, and so young! There is something just not right about that. It's really great that you would consider joining a group like this already.. That's a good way to celebrate living. I love your goats! I would love to have goats someday. Have to live in a different house, though. I'm pretty sure we're not zoned for them. Hope you can make it on Sunday. It's going to be a lively time!

Here's what's blooming in my yard today: this evergreen clematis. It just keeps climing up the birch tree more and more each year.

shokami, so sorry to hear about Mija. I'm sure you have many fond memories. I lost my oldest cat at 16 one month shy of his 17th birthday. His mom was Siamese.
When I worked at the boarding kennel down the road I used to take care of a black cat that was 22! I was always afraid that she would go over the Rainbow Bridge before her mom would come back. She was a mean little @#$%#. I think she had wildcat in her blood cause she was nasty. I often told myself she was just too darn mean to die! LOL!

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

thanks gardner.......... yeah ive come across some cats with a nasty demeaner. just old and grouchy lol (know alot of people like that too!) :P

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Me too! Unfortunately my neighbors, only they aren't old they're alcoholics and just vindictive! :-(

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Whats blooming outside my door ? Not much, but 512 posts down I can show what there was to see at Roozengard this morning. Still lots of Tulips not open yet. This weekend should be great viewing in the Skagit Valley.

What a fantastic day!! No rain..temps in the high 60's I guess.. Was out in the yard at the crack of dawn and finally had to quit 8 hours later. Tired, achy ,but loven the sunshine while it last. Planted almost 5 flats of perenials , 30 daylillies, pulled weeds, plucked up a few slugs..yuck...& even ate my yogurt for lunch in my garden chair...in the SUNSHINE!
Took a few pictures.
My ranunculus are very pretty..now that they have opened.
All they needed was a little sunshine!

Every one & living thing was happy in the garden today! Talked to the lady bugs. They kept falling off the plants. I would give them a helping hand to upright themselves and even a lift some of the time back onto the plant. They are such hard workers and to darn cute!!
Fantastic day!

Bea ~ Love the bee! (and the flowers)

Bal ~ Gorgeous. I'm still waiting for my 10 tulips to open. Big buds...trying hard. I can only imagine all of those up close and personal!

It was a glorious day here on the peninsula as well. A bit chilly in until the afternoon, but sunny and great. BIL is here visiting from Missoula so went for a geocache hike at a local county park. Then made DH drop me at the house while they continued on their journey. I weeded the freesia beds and started performing thistlectomies around. Didn't accomplish a whole lot but being outside doing absolutely nothing on a sunny day is better than just about anything!

My Scilla peruviana has a few more flowers on it...can't hardly wait to see the whole thing in bloom.
