I like yours Celeste.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Deb, but they look entirely different don't they?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, they do.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Love the hosta and the DLs. DlLs do that I have noticed. Maybe different amounts of elements in the soil or temps like with roses that look totally different in color from season to season some times. Don't get us started on the JI again, I managed to keep from going there this year so far. Very hard to resist at this almost spring time of the year. :)

Oh how beautiful!!
I've GOT to start making a list. For one of my years that I garden in the future, that is.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Not sure about that...mine petals/sepals are always that off white/cream color. Here is a pic from Oakes DL's.

I hope I can get this to work...lol.

True, some DL's that I have the eyezone is not the same as what I've seen in other DL's of the same variety...especially when dealing with 'Black Eyed Stella' My BES always have a dark orangey/reddish eyezone, where as others have almost a brownish, to orange, or even a darker yellow. But, all are considered 'BES'

Here's a different photo and it's still not the same. Oh well, I love it anyways!

A beautiful DL no matter what--hope what I planted last fall from the VT company turns out as well. The iris bed is looking great, but my new hydrangea-grasses garden is a bummer--I hope it's just slow to wake up, & not that the dogs have destroyed it! They've pulled up a lot of the landscape cloth, & the mulch is everywhere but on the garden! Would like to try some river rock, but I'm afraid it would end up in the lawn service's mower, & they would quit!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, that is quite a difference!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Hemhostaholic I'm into Bonsai, so I have a lot of patience, but the areas I intend to cover total 130 sq ft so I might run out of time by dividing one clump of Angelina! ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Set your camera to time-lapse, WC!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

... I know! I plan to use it in that area next to the garage, a 20x4 ft section I will use as a cover for the plants I'm putting in. Then I have a 5x10 area at the corner of my property where Im thinking of putting a JM which is mostly shaded. Maybe I should ask Alex Rodriquez what he uses... ☺

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

I'm trying to start a tree peony garden down by my little pond. Here are some pretties which the nursery says they are shipping this week in dormancy.

Very pretty Daisy! I really like the yellow one, reminds me of s rose!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I like the yellow one, too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice. I'm trying one this spring too. I tried one in the past and lost it. Hopefully will have success this time.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Picked up a rock waterfall fountain this afternoon, can't wait for Real Spring!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool, Deb! You'll love the sound.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It'll go in the area with my new JM's. Yes, I'm looking forward to enjoying it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I still want to do a fountain using a large oil jar type container, if I can ever find one at a reasonable price.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

isn't it amazing how expensive containers can be?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I know! The components for a fountain aren't all that expensive, but boy! when you try to find some beautiful way to use them, you just can't find anything nice that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Absolutely. I want to use one that is glazed. The lowest one I have seen that fits what I'm looking for was about $450!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh yeah. It has to be glazed.

I'm actually thinking of finding an old washtub. Well, no, not actually, but jeepers!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

it's ridiculous...

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh you guys, I went to Big Lots yesterday for pots... just got one for $10.00 - a little one... I just finally forgot about expensive ones and do plastic... so I got different colors... the roses and other plants are worth it, but I can't afford... too many other things to get... I guess I will be plantind a lot ot thyme and creeping jenny!!!! and some other things that cascade!!!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I love tree peonies. There is a wonderful breeder in the Genessee Valley of New York State

Well worth the visit.
I remember someone asking about Nasturteums I just bought climbers from Lowes at the Burpee seed kiosk
I also bought Caladium bulbs and have no clue how to take care of them. Can I force them indoors? Next to my Cannas?

I just bought 4 of these from Biglots for 2.50 each. I thought it was a good deal? What do I do with them? It say's PLANT THEM NOW. I can't plant them now.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

You can pot them up in a good sized pot. If you have any of those 5 gal. white buckets they will work Just be sure to put drainage holes in them. You can keep them in an unheated garage if you think the temps there are too cold. They should be planted with the bud union at least a few inches below soil level as they look to be hybrid tea roses. Do not let them dry out. Harden them off before you plant them outside in their permanent location.

Thomaston, CT

You have to plant the caladiums, now GE, or they will take forever to come up---just put the corms in some potting soil---not too deep, & keep them near the furnace where it's warm--when you see growth, put them in the light. You have to dig them up in the fall. Sherrie, hybrid teas are hard to winter over, but rose cones do help them survive. They were so cheap, you could treat them like annuals!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Robindog: I have been busy today running around in the rain and snow mixed, buying fiberglass planters for the "garden on the deck" Lowes has pretty good prices and I had to lift them to be sure they weren't ceramic.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Thom, and everyone else... Ashdow roses has a gorgeous rose for a great price... the rose of the week is Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale (syn. 'Gebruder Grimm') so gorgeous... really a happy color...
