Ahhh, it's predicted to be a lovely weekend weather-wise. I have SO much I need to do outside. If I think about it too hard I have panic attacks, so...one..task..at ..a..time. I found that my heliotrope under the grow lights have a tiny sprout, when I wasn't sure it anything was going to grow, and my Ginkgo trees from the seeds that I swiped from the Philly historical garden (shhhh) are doing well. And the roses that were under the overgrown boxwood that I cut down are all starting to perk up nicely (no idea at all what kind they are, they've probably been there for years). So, it's all good! I'll even have some things to bring to the Round Up. For some bizarre reason it never occured to me that perennials do spread (OK, it's been quite awhile since I've had a garden), so I'll actually have something to bring after all.
Spring NE Roundup - Saturday June 28th
Nancy - I know just what you mean......as I walk around the farm I see other things that I can dig up to bring to the RU. It's just amazing how things multiply before you know it!
Kassia,
Yeah..Lynda
Me too, I'm saving all my plastic nursery pots and cells and putting starts of things in them.
I still haven't decided what we'll bring. I think I'll just walk around the gardens the week before and see what needs thinning.
What about foods, Kassia? What shall we bring to the feast?
whatever you want to bring...
Lets do a list for food.... after I will add to the first posting...
Maybe you could make a second 'sticky' post ~ just for the food we all will be bringing.
Here's what I dug up today for sharing: 5 yellow evening primrose, 3 helianthus, 2 or 3 heliopsis & 1 fern; We are also planning to dig up several lilies of the valley. That's my start. Any interest in those??
As to food, I will bring a bowl of chicken salad & sandwich rolls, along with a dessert of some kind. If needed, I can bring other stuff as well.
Can't wait!
Yes in lily of the valley and chicken salad!
in case mine got missed.... randys mom, Michele is bringing a pasta antipasto..... and I will bring some sort of dessert most likely a pie & some cupcakes
Not sure what I'll be bringing yet, as it's a toss-up between potato chips (easy to provide) and home-made brownies, (of which I would have to make a TON!!!) I'm leaning toward the brownies, especially if it rains during the week before so that I can stay indoors and make them.
If our Dave is still coming, and if I can figure out how to do it and load the car the night before and stuff like that, I may bring this decadent Mocha Chip Ice Cream we were talking about.
IT's a MONTH away!
That's right, Amy, but I think it is much easier to dig things up as they come up rather than a month from now when they are so much bigger.
Right, and to divide before they're bigger too. (That fragment makes no sense on its own.)
any one need some blanket flower..... I have a few volunteers to dig up
Yes........Allison.....I'd like one!
The problem is where to go with things in the meantime!
I will bring a few up with me then.... some started last year.... and i have new ones from this year I will leave... amazing how that thing is self seeding.... sort of glad i don't deadhead towards the end of the season... but right now they are all jammed up together
I have an area of the patio with empty winter sowing jugs, all of which have little divisions of plants in them. Anyone want a lot of yarrow?

Amy can vouch for it.
Amy - I am just sticking my RU babies in a corner on my porch and watering them as needed. But Yikes......39 degree "real feel" tonight and even lower on Thursday. I don't think it'll be a problem for any of the perennials for the RU, but I don't know how the tomatoes, peppers & cukes will like it!
i am overloaded with strawflowers (again). They grow in anything i put them in. Check my tradelist for other stuff.
Kassia,
I have procrastinated enough but would like to come if I can bring our daughter who is also a gardener.
We are bringing
Brigitte - German potatoe salad
Angela - Lasagna
I have never been to a round up before and I am lost at what to bring for trades ? what is exspected ?
PLMK,
Brigitte
Amy, may I have some of your Firewitch Dianthus - I promise I'll plant it this time! And the blue anagalllis - if you can hang on to some seedlings for one more month . . . I love those. You gave me some seeds in October but I didn't think they'd actually grow, and ask Michaela, I have sooooooo many seeds!!!!
Brigitte - this is how the plant trading goes! And that which is not worked out in advance, happens then and there. Even if you have nothing to bring, come anyway, because we'd love to meet you! I have already a spot under a tree with little pots full of divisions to trade with people. Some are ear-marked for certain people who have asked for them (but I forget who gets what)! Just bring what you have extra of (if any) and even if you don't, you'll still go home with a full car.
Carrie
Oh Brigitte come... and yes bring Angela!!!! what a blessing!!!! well, you come and bring whatever you want... if you have plants to trade do it... if not come anyway~~~~ oh I am so pleased you are coming!!!!
Carrie,
We moved from a farm where I always had loads and loads of flowers which I shared with DG members for postage.
Here is a big clump of Blue Flagg irises I can bring some from.I'll come up with something I am sure :-) do you still want seeds ?
Could you tell me how many plants people are usually bringing ?
BTW Carrie,as I wrote you a long time ago Angela lives in Milton just like you so you can meet her as well.I'll drive down on friday and stay in Milton with her.

Kassia,it will be truly a pleasure to see your gardens with all your roses and of course the turtles !! Angela and I are BIG animal lovers :-)
We would LOVE some Irises. No more seeds for me, please. Oh, Angela LIVES in Milton? Oh wow! I remember you had a relative who lived in Milton, but I didn't put 2 + 2 together to get 22. Well, we should all go together then, to save gas money, you think? I just mean from Milton.
Great! I am counting on both of you coming!!!!
Anyone want to carpool from CT?
This is just getting bigger and better all the time. What fun we will be having!!
If the iris that Anna and I need to divide are past bloom, we will dig and bring some of those. I also have a small lilac sapling that needs a new home. As of this writing, I am not sure what else will be ready, unless it's some of the carpet phlox that Anna would like to thin out.
Looking forward to seeing you and your daughter Brigitte. Don't worry about bringing enough plants for everyone. As things are right now, I have nothing to bring. It's not so much about trading plants as it is about seeing the people we've been conversing with for ages. The plants are just inevitable since we are all gardeners!

How close are you to Boston?
i am looking at making a trip to Boston for an event the night before, but then i am really not sure about plant transport and storage in a hotel or car if i stay over...
Amethystsm, I would give you a ride but I'm not sure of my plans yet. My daughter wants me to visit her in Rhode Island, but I'm not sure how that's going to work out yet. We can put our heads together as it gets closer if you want!
Thanks. i'm not sure what my plans are either just yet!
