Spring NE Roundup - Saturday June 28th

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

galinsoga is EVIL.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Allison, if I can try to finagle a way to go to this RU, I'd love to hook up so we could car pool. I'm not getting my hopes up that I'll be able to go though.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

galinsoga?

Amy, you are so right.....these weeds are SO evil! I'm determined not to let them get ahead of me this year, but it is not easy. I know they are out there germinating and growing as I write this.....just waiting with their little creepy round green leaves to torment me again tomorrow morning! LOL

Thanks, Harper! I'm lucky that my DH has a laptop that I didn't fry.....yet. LOL

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Until last year, i didn't know there could be so many of ANYthing.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Louise:

Don't feel bad. I don't know what the average life expectancy of a laptop might be, especially one that is on about 14 - 17 hours a day, but mine absolutely died after three years.

So, it was off to the nearest Circuit City, after speaking with my computer guru at Techs on Call, and I am now sitting here trying to figure out this new laptop.

The fact that your computer fried may not have been you at all, you see.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

What have you done to control them? I've tried EVERYTHING. Even Roundup didn't phase them. I think our only hope is to get every plant out before they can flower. Preen doesn't work, vinegar...no....plastic cover....no; just pulling their little green bodies apart......and putting them in a garbage bag...closed tight. Today I opened the garbage bag and they have grown a lot in it.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Apparently the seeds can germinate as the fall to the ground. i pull and pull and pull, and get as many tiny ones as i can, they are easier to get out then, but it is like a plague.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Candyce - you are very kind, but it was my fault for using my laptop on my lap......whodathunkit?! Now I'm forever to be known among family, friends and the Geek Squad as a Motherboard frier! Good luck with your laptop.....and don't use it on your lap! LOL

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Amy - I'm tempted to write to Preen and all the other pre-emergent weed killers to see if they can possibly add this weed to their list. I wonder how the commercial places dealt with them.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I use mine on my lap all the time - you just need to make sure not to block the vent.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

LOL, Louise. I saw something in one store or another that I was visiting this week. It looked like a little padded tilt table that you could put on your lap and then use your laptop. I wonder why putting a laptop on your lap would fry the computer?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

the combination of conversations is getting odd...
^_^

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes. We are odd, aren't we?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i think it was the inadvertent combination of Louise's pre-emergent weed killer and Debilu using hers on her lap all the time that made my head sping...

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

mmmmmmmppppffff!
There went my coffee again!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Candyce - Deb has the answer to the problem.....I blocked the vent. Now I have my DH's laptop on my lap, but on a tray. Duh...wouldn't you think I could figure that one out??? But no!

Amy - good thing that everyone on this forum is used to mentally shifting a lot, huh? LOL

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL - gallant soldiers not sufficiently vented on Deb's lap!! LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

you are more than welcome Jen.... my truck has plenty of space

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

HA, it was entertaining just trying to get through that last conversation thread! I think I've seen that little "cutie" in my garden, but it has so many bedfellows at this point that I wouldn't even recognize it. I need July 4th weekend just to catch up on the weeding. Ooof.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

You should all know that, yes, my lap is weed free!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We are soooooo funny!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ha ha ha NE forum definitely has the nuts!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Speaking of nuts - Carrie are you bringing girl brownies or boy brownies?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I was going to bring mocha chip ice cream* - i thought YOU were bringing brownies!

*if the crowd still is wildly in favor of mocha chip ice cream instead of, say, tofu burgers?

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow - that sounds awesome. I'll do both girl and boy.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

So, do boys have nuts?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

heeheehee.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Boy brownies do.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Never heard them called that way before.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

..innocently, "What do the girl brownies have..?"

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

The only difference is one has nuts and the other does not. I don't want to start any scandals here.... :-}

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, you guys are so funny! Girl and Boy brownies! LOL Do you get the feeling that there will be some laughter at the RU??? Quite scandalous, indeed, Ms. Nanegoat!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I managed to pot up 6 blanket flowers today... and potted up a few more foxgloves... going to have lots of stuff to bring up with me

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I like the sound of that, Allison!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh I am praying for good weather... such not a good prediction for next week...

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

They really can't tell this far ahead - it changes every day. We'll all pray with you. That should do it!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll pray for good weater with you Kassia. With all the people who are coming and all the plants that will be arriving, we need a few hours of good weather, at least!!

Allison ... what are blanket flowers?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
